“the Gospel of Probation” Dead people cannot be partners in their salvation. The Adventist ‘works righteousness/partners with God’ salvation denies man’s sinfulness and God’s grace, while simultaneously rendering Christ’s death as insufficient. “the Gospel of Adoption” It boils down to ‘back to basics’. It was the realization of my total depravity, ‘DEAD in sin’, that led me to comprehend that by our sovereign God’s amazing grace I am saved through faith in Christ’s atoning death Everything hinges on our understanding of our absolute helplessness and total dependence on God to save us. I am fully convinced that when a person is truly convicted of these truths, the carnal doctrines of man (woman) will be recognized as false and discarded. John Douglas | ||

Hey John, "It was the realization of my total depravity, ‘DEAD in sin’, that led me to comprehend that by our sovereign God’s amazing grace I am saved through faith in Christ’s atoning death. "Everything hinges on our understanding of our absolute helplessness and total dependence on God to save us." Like the Lion said in the Wizard of OZ: "Ain't it da truth, ain't it da truth?" This is the common denominator of God's love and amazing grace. Ultimately, we get to a point where we cease trying to find satisfaction and peace in our own way, and just give it up and allow Him to lead. Steve | ||

Steve, That's it!! 'Let go and let God'. If we would just quit struggling and surrender to God's (the Holy Spirit) guidance. That is the peace beyond understanding-at least it is to legalists. I cannot comprehend why attempting to earn salvation is somehow more attractive than receiving salvation as a free gift. Rom 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; Rom 8:1 (NASB) Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. John 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. Act 16:30-31 and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (31) They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." John Douglas |
