Hey all, I'm wondering if anyone has done an online Bible Study here on the forum. Is anyone intersted? Do you think it would work? Anyone want to organize it? LOL. Talk about passing the buck. I would love to study some of the FAF studies posted on this forum home page. We dont have a formers group in the Atlanta area. Galations or Romans or Hebrew sound good to me. Maybe Galatians because it is shorter. I thought about putting it in the members section, but all the good stuff seems to go there, and I want to include lurkers if possible. Any takers? Lori | ||

My Bible study group is studying Galatians right now. We've had some really good discussions. We're using a software called iLunina Gold for our study materials. We have three couples and three single ladies. Last week we talked about the two covenants as represented by Hagar and Sarah. I get really emotional when I read where Paul quotes the Old Testament and says, "Cast out the bondwoman!" And the part where he says he wants those who are preaching a different gospel to be eternally condemned. Wow! Those are strong words! But, without such strong words, we wouldn't be able to grasp how easy it is for us to slide into salvation by works and how much we diminish Christ when we do that. Honestwitness | ||

Our women"s group is doing Galations and using Max Lucado's study. It's challenging--Colleen's studies meet the needs of formers somewhat more than the others, but it was in the study of Galations that I made up my mind to leave the SDA church. I could not deny the "other gospel" that was so clear. We will do Hagar and Sarah next week, Honestwitness and I am really looking forward to it. At the church I attend the people seem to have such a good understanding of the covenants and the plan of salvation--I am still in such awe and wonder. I think it might just work, Lori, and if we tried it, it could be good for the folk who are feeling isolated. We wouldn't know unless we tried it! Peggy | ||

I think Phil is right, we should ask the Tinkers what they think. In the meantime, I am going to read the book of Galations straight through this morning, so if anyone wants to join me, lets post what God speaks to us. Peggy, Max Lucado's book, In the grip of Grace" totally wrecked me for Jesus! It was one major turning point--the study of Romans.... It put the axe to my "religious spirit" and ushered in the beginning of a love and appreciation for the finished work of Jesus! | ||

Thanks Lori, I was at a small group for new members this past weekend and the leader of the group had been in Iraq as a Marine and was showing some of the pictures from his time there. I wasn't even close enough to see the pictures clearly but could see the general view of what he had seen. It brought back a flood of memories of my time in Nam as a medic and a lot of emotion "welled" up in my soul and it was nice to be among friends who were supportive.
