Noorbergen wrote several odd books. One of them was "Prophet of Destiny", a slanted-biographical endorsement of Ellen White. At the bottom of the cover was a blurb for another Noorbergen book about psychic Jeane Dixon. Some years ago at a Revelation Seminar this book was being sold. The speaker did not realize that this book contained a Jeane Dixon advertisment until it was pointed out to him. He was obviously disturbed and said "well that kind of ruins it...hmmm" and left it at that. That did'nt stop them from selling the book. The pairing of Ellen White and Jeane Dixon may well be appropriate but still it is very, very disturbing. |

The only book I recall reading by Rene Noorbergen was "Secrets of the Lost Races". It was giving supposed archaeological "proof" that before the flood, civilization was so advanced that they had aircraft, vehicles similar to cars, and were basically as modern as we have been the last several decades. |

I remember, now that you have mentioned that Raven, hearing that the pre flood people had electricity and other things. You just jogged my memory banks. Diana |

IIRC Rene Noorbergen concluded, for whatever reason, that EGW was authentic and Jeane Dixson was not. |

I used the book, Prophet of Destiny, when I was researching the life of EGW. At the time, it was the only book I could find. Rene did suggest, in the book, that her head injury was what caused her to have her "visions". Back when I was doing my research there were no home computers and certainly no internet. Fortunately, we now have much better biographies on her life and things like this forum to keep us informed. Phil |

They used to have a preview page of that book, Prophet of Destiny, on http://books.google.com, page 158. It was all about Satan! Satan this, satan that. The whole page was about Satanic stuff. I tried to look at pages 157 and 159 (unsuccessfully), then it would not even show me page 158 again. I felt creeped out about then! |

We trashed the Rene Noorbergen book with the Red Books years ago. I think he co-authored a book with Jeanne Dixon. The story is that she wasn't financially honest with him. Dennis Fischer |

When I used books such as Rene Noorbergen's or Walter Martin's, I assumed they had some kind of bias towards the SDA church and read their materials with caution. Although I didn't know what Rene's relationship with them was it was obvious that he had special access to their official documents and was being as favorable towards them as possible. By the time I did my research on EGW I had been well ground in orthodox Christian doctrines and used the Bible as my prime source to expose her errors and came to my own independent conclusion the she was a false prophet. A born-again, Holy Spirit led, Christ centered Christian, using the Bible, God's Word, as the "Cornerstone" of true doctrine can not be led astray by Satan's lies. One of the "tools" of the Holy Spirit is the "Body of Christ". When we get an idea or thought concerning Biblical truth, we share it with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We grow and learn from each other. We need to be humble enough to have our ideas tested in a "public" way such as on this forum. Phil |

I am "squirreling away" all of these books in a special cabinet for "evidence". This past Sunday I loaned one of our Baptist pastors my Clear Word Bible. He was dumbfounded! I also showed him in the back of the 3Q 2006 1844/IJ Adult Sabbath Scoool Quarterly where they have a full page "official" ad promoting Clear Word, Clear Word for Kids, and Lonnie Melanshanko (from the Voice of Prophecy) reading the Clear Word New Testament. He is at a loss for words over how the Seventh-day Adventist Church so boldly misrepresents itself to the public. To him, rewriting the Bible so it portrays the cultic doctrine of Ellen White is incomprehenisble. Gilbert Jorgensen It has been 162 Years, 10 Months, and 26 Days since October 22, 1844 |

Gilbert, Until I wanted to research SDA doctrine, the only EGW book I ever owned was 'Steps to Christ'. When I let my family know I was interest in getting some of her books, they flooded me with all sorts of publications, never bothering to ask what I wanted them for. One book, I found in my grandparents abandoned home at Angwin. The place had been bought by my first grade school teacher and the book has her signature in it. I found the Clear Word Bible, which was only on loan to me, so offensive I made a special trip down to Oregon to give it back at the earliest possible moment. Rene Noorbergen's book was on loan from the University of Washington, so it was a simple matter of returning it to the library. Sure glad I didn't bother to pay money for it. As for all the other volumes, they are in my storage shed getting very moldy. I read each of your postings with great interest and know you a doing an important work exposing EGW for the charlatan her was, However, as for my own studies, I would rather spend my time in God's word.
