I would like to create a directory of churches that are now pastored by former SDA pastors, and would appreciate any information you have. I am just looking for former SDA pastors who are still faithful to the Bible basics. I understand the following church is pastored by a former SDA minister. I will check more on it. Riverside Community Church 4850 Jurupa Ave. Riverside, CA 92504 There is also a former SDA minister in Vienna, VA who was starting a church. I will have to call him and ask him about it. Diana |

Hi Diana, thank you for your help. It looks like their URL is http://riversidecommunitychurch.com/. Worship services are Saturdays at 11 am. It looks like they still have some connection with Andrews University ... quote:RCC Worship, Arts and Media Ministry presents a mini-conference on Saturday, September 15 from 3 to 6:30 pm. The keynote speaker is Nicholas Zork and the featured clinician is Chariya Bissonette. Zork is a youth pastor and Director of the Andrews University Music and Worship Conference. Bissonette is a worship leader, recording artist, vocal coach and a Maranatha Music vocal clinician. Assisting in the musicians breakout clinic will be Bobby G, the Worship Coach at RCC.
That was all I was able to find out from their website. |

When I saw the sabbath services I did a quick search of any SDA connection. It was just a quick one. That may not be one that you want to list. Diana |

Hi Jorgfe, I think you have a great idea going! Would you consider distinguishing between former Adventist pastors who are still Saturday sabbatarians and those who are not? It might be a helpful point for some. I think of Eric Bahme, now pastor of Eastside Foursquare Church in Portland, OR. Here's his info: Eastside Foursquare Church 9727 NE Sandy Blvd Portland, OR 97220 503-226-4900 Pastor Eric Bahme The Lord bless you, Pastor Mark |

The Four Square Church is not Saturday-Sabbatarian is it? They are over on East Sandy, I think towards Costco and the Four Squares have never been Saturday Sabbatarian that I know of. Or maybe you just meant that he (Bahme) is former SDA Mark. River (Message edited by river on September 06, 2007) |

Pastor Mark, What a surprise to here about East Side Four Square Church in Portland. This was the first church my wife and I landed in after leaving Adventism. Jerry Cook (non SDA)was the senior Pastor at that time. What was so memorable about the church was the pastor and elders prayed over my wife and I for healing. We had great difficulty in conception and birth defects causing our unborn children to be lost. The next month (cycle) my wife became pregnant with our son (and only natural child) He is now 27 , healthy, loves Jesus, and a father himself. It was that experience that solidified our departure from Adventism and we have never looked back. It was a miracle for us and we praise God every day for His blessings. My wife just informed me it was the Eastlake Four Square in Gresham....opps... I'll post this anyway Jay |

Hi gang, It is my understanding that brother Eric is a former SDA. The Foursquare denomination is not a Saturday-sabbath keeping denomination, though a few of their churches have experimented with holding services on different days to reach out to different people groups. Hope this clarifies. Pastor Mark |

Jamundson, hey, what a testimony for Jesus, I have to confess to belonging to the Four Square fer about 15 years. Of course it was a small church. I have heard very good reports of Jerry Cook. Small world. The cleared er up for me Mark, the Church Bro. Eric has is a Motel model, I just saw one going into Portland this morning so it doesn't surprise me they experimented with Saturday services outreach. There is a ministry in Portland caelled the "Bridges" Ministry, they go out under the many bridges and take clean socks to the homeless who camp under there and pray for them. There are many good Christains doing a work out of a heart of love for our Lord. River |

Jeremy, thank you. My wife and I attended Southern (Missionary College) in the 70's when Jerry Gladsen, Ed Zachrison, and Lorenzo Grant were told to hit the road. They were all really great Bible teachers. I especially enjoyed Revelation class from Ed. I truly wish I had known then what I know now about Adventism. Gilbert Jorgensen |

Yes, Eric Bahme is a former Adventist, and I believe he is a Sunday Sabbatarian--at least he used to be. And Loneviking is right: Riverside Community Church is a full Adventist church with the pastor on the conference payroll. It's completely deceptive, masquerading as "just" a local church that happens to meet on Saturday. But they are Adventist with theology that is not orthodox Christianity nor orthodox Adventism. I consider it to be more dangerous than a mainstream Adventist church because it pretends NOT to be Adventist in its advertising...much like that Bible study, Diana! One last comment: the Christian Church (as in the First Christian church) of which Disciples of Christ is a subset is actually a liberal church which, in general, holds what we would call a "low view" of Scriptural inerrancy. There are exceptions, but in general it is very liberal church. There are members on this board who have had personal experience in the Christian Church who might speak more specifically to this issue... Colleen |

Colleen, how is a person a Sunday Sabbatarian? Isn't that an oxymoron? Gilbert Jorgensen |

Yes, it is...I've never understood how they rationalize that...but it's the view held by many Christians who believe the Bible teaches observing "a day". It's harder for me to understand how a former Adventist arrives at this position, but I guess some do! Colleen |

Any one know Pat Nave, he was up in the Washington Conf. Was in my area but I only heard about him, He started a small group www.thebridgewa.com then left for central California. While in this area he spoke several times at the Mt. Vernon WA SDA church, and was liked very much--some of the members attended his little church I understand. Which reminds me does any one know what happened to the Bridge church in Portland, or Milwaukee, Ore? It was started by a couple of SDA pastors, I haven't heard about it lately. They did meet on Saturday. Peggy |

Is the Riverside SDA church the one with the flamboyant woman pastor? Also, Gilbert, many people who hold to covenant theology consider Sunday the Christian Sabbath and I think would be classified as Sunday Sabbatarians. Check out the section on the 10 commandments in the Westminster Confession for more information Susan |
