The legal limit for here is .08 and point .04 for truckers, .04 is about when the trucker goes into a bar and sniffs a beer in passing. Point being it is pretty difficult to drink at all without becoming Inebriated. Heh heh, now being a ex alcoholic teetotaler I should keep quite in this conversation, but I just thought it was interesting what the state thinks about drunken driving. If one exceeds .04 would that be termed driving the Holy Spirits vessel under the influence? River |

Luz, Tell you what: I will not say anything about what you eat and drink and you do not say anything about what I eat and drink. You are beginning to sound like an SDA minister standing at the pulpit. When I have alcohol I do not over indulge. One drink will last me the whole evening. That is not drunkenness. People very seldom rub me the wrong way, but your comments did. You can believe whatever you want and I will not question you. So, please, do not preach at those of us who do indulge in an occasional alcoholic drink. As long as we do it in moderation. After all Christ's first miracle was turning water into wine. Diana |

Non caffeinated diet Coke and water. There!!! I do not often let anything ruffle my feathers, and tonight it happened. Just goes to show I am human. It reminds me of something that happened when my son was about 12. I came home from work one day and he had fixed a simple supper of salad and beans. It was so sweet of him. BUT he had not done his chores. So I told him, Son, I really appreciate the dinner. That is so nice. But I appreciate it also when you do your chores. I did not holler, just spoke kindly and softly. My son looks at me and without missing a beat says, "You mean Mom under your shirt you just have your bra and pants and not a SUPER MOM t-shirt". I lost it then and we both laughed and he did do his chores. Diana |

Luz, Read Ecclesiastes carefully. Also, Jesus made real wine for the benefit of a wedding. Not encouraging you to drink, just offering a little balance. steve |

I think rather that the bible teaches to do all things in moderation. The thing is folks it teaches a lot of things we don't follow to the "T" Now you all know I belong to a Pentecostal church and it is the place where I can fellowship, but some of the people in a Pentecostal church will condemn you to hell in a drag basket for use of tobacco, yet there is nothing in scripture to approve or disapprove yet people will point a finger and call it sin, alcohol is dangerous to me because I am an ex-alcoholic, It would be a sin for me to begin drinking again, not for someone else, but for me, and yet I feel no inhibitions against anyone smoking cigarettes at all, I can be around someone who has a beer and I don't feel that they have sinned at all. People in these churches will condemn someone else for tobacco use and at the same time eat themselves half to death with a chicken leg in one hand and point the finger with the other calling out Unclean, unclean. Heres the truth of the matter the way I see it, this body will die because of sin in it, there is no longer condemnation for those who are in Christ. Here is what Paul said Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Thats the truth of all of us,yet we will zero in on something that the Bible does not even call sin and condemn another till it makes them beside themselves. We got to jump out there and take over Gods Job, I know I am guilty, but I want to grow and get better. I have learned so much on this forum. I am not trying to preach, I just want to approach it with honesty of heart. I want to grow and get better, I ask for that chance. I have made up my mind tonight to extend that same chance to all of you nomatter what. River |

sorry flyinglady if I have offended you. I didn't write those words myself, but just posted an article from a website. I was just simply wondering if it was ok, and asking questions. Didn't mean to push any buttons. |

Lizisbornagain, We each have to decide for ourselves if we want to have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer. As was stated above we are warned in the bible what happens when we over indulge. The bible teaches to do all things in moderation. I once in a while have a glass of wine when I am out for dinner and also when it is real hot (90-100 degrees) out. If you choose to drink or not no one here is going to point their finger at you and call you unclean so go for it girlfriend and have a nice glass of wine or juice and sit and relax. CHEERS!! haha It is so great to be free in Jesus and not have to always looking over our shoulders in fear of SDA. Love in Christ, Gail |

Luz, you are NOT allowed to smoke marijuana. But yes, you are allowed to drink wine. Jesus drank it, he served it up for his disciples, and he even made it for a wedding couple. Wine is even good for you if you have a little once in a while. Notice, the bible does not say that Jesus made "nectar" for the wedding. You don't have to drink wine, I only have half a glass maybe once or twice a year, but it really is okay! If you think you would have a problem with over-indulgence though, then just don't start. Joyfully, Leigh Anne |

Drinking, or smoking, or whatever are morally meaningless behaviors like scratching ones nose, UNTIL, these serve to cop out on the Holy Spirit's leading and influence. It is so easy to tell the Lord to go on standby while I commence to "medicate" or "sooth" or "handle" things myself. This has very little to do with the method used, but everything to do with disconnecting from God, even for a moment, an evening, etc. Behaviors can affect health and bad decisions have consequences, but it is ultimately about connection with God. The Adventist penchant for moralizing everything from hotdogs to money to worship times and styles is the ultimate form of evil and separation from God's plan to reconnect with us. Bottom line, Jesus created wine from water to put it out in front of us as if to say "so what". I am your Source of comfort, I am your Wine, your Living Water, these things like wine are mere momentary and meaningless comforts. Do not get carried away with any substitute for Me in your life. Without Me, you can do nothing. With Me in your life, you can do anything that My Spirit leads you to do. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom". just spewing, sorry, steve |

Well, I opened my strong's concordance and opened the bible and compared the text in it's context of course and the times that wine is forbidden was when the nazarite was being born and for the nazarite or when someone was set apart for the duty of God the forbidding of wine, strong drink or unclean meats were forbidden. Also it was forbidden in the context of overindulgence or alcohol abuse. Thank the Lord for the Word of God. It's so straightforward at times, that it makes no sense for someone to twist it and misunderstand it. I knew in my heart that wine wasn't wrong, but growing up SDA that was frowned upon. flyinglady don't get angry at me, I'm just a babe in Christ, so folks please have patience with me, I'm just starting all over and learning and I hope you guys can have the patience with me in this. Just trying to understand my freedom in Christ. |

Luz, I did not know it was some one else's words. And I am sorry for jumping all over you with words. I was very tired and when I am tired I let others ruffle my feathers, where usually I don't. And River, I will take after you with my baseball bat(I do not have a rolling pin, I do not cook), if you don't share that possum with me. I love my freedom to try new foods. Diana |
