I heard a song by MercyMe (it was new to me) early last week. It's called "Bring the Rain". The song in general is about going through tough times and knowing despite those tough times, we can trust God's faithfulness. It is a comforting message of hope. I know there are a lot of Christian songs that have this same type of theme. But I thought the lyrics to the chorus was a "prayer/declaration" that many of us on this forum could relate to and have experienced. As I've read the different testimonies since I've discovered this forum, "felt" the frustration and confusion sometimes expressed by the members here, and remembered my own "pain" felt, I've come to find that despite the "pain", God was reaching each of us in the places that needed to be reached. During the process, it can be tough and uncomfortable. But the end result? His Glory! I've learned through my own experience, and the praises of others here on this forum, that God is so faithful to complete us. No matter what we go through we can praise Him for it because it's all for His ultimate purpose and glory. When I first heard the chorus, I was moved to tears. So I felt moved to share those lyrics here; perhaps it will encourage some out there who are feeling the pain of God's "refining fire" right now. Although the journey into truth isn't always fun, we can trust that under God's care and direction, it ultimately leads to joy, peace, and freedom. It's something I'm beginning to slowly learn myself... Here is the chorus to "Bring the Rain": Bring me joy, bring me peace Bring the chance to be free Bring me anything that brings You glory And I know there'll be days When this life brings me pain But if that's what it takes to praise You Jesus Then bring the rain "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Cor. 1:3,4 Grace |

Thank you for sharing that, Grace. It reminded me of an old sketch about "rain"... http://art-for-jesus.blogspot.com/2005/11/rain-down.html ...the words from the MercyMe song would fit better than the ones I put on the sketch! God is awesome anyway. |
