When you left the SDA church did you find it difficult or necessary to try and fit in with any particular church or denominational beliefs? As much as I've tried, I've found it difficult to put a label on myself. I once asked a group of Christian women (one was an SDA) if they agreed with everything their church taught. I was actually surprised with the answers. Only the SDA said she agreed 100%. Everyone else easily said they didn't agree with everything 100% and that no one agrees with everything their church teaches. |

U2bsda, you bring up a very interesting point. No, I "vowed" I'd never belong to a denominational identity again. And I've also found that I don't agree with every point of interpretation with the Christians at church. They don't agree 100% either. The differenceówhich is startling at firstóis that they are deeply united in the Lord Jesus, and they exhibit transparency and concern that has nothing to do with doctrinal interpretation. Those who are most transparent are the most open (and the least dogmatic) about points of differenceóbut they are also the most outspoken for Jesus and for the reliability of His word. It's really a paradigm shift. Colleen |

After leaving the SDA church, I found myself utterly unable to join myself to any other church organization, denomination, congregation, or affiliation. Won't get fooled again... I attend several Christian churches in the area. But I only belong to Christ. |

I am transitioning into the Seventh Day Baptist Church. It is Bible Believing and Christ Centered and even though many on this board would disagree about the Sabbath, the SDB view of the Sabbath is much healtier and more balanced than the SDA view of it. This may not work for most of you guys, but praise God, it's working for me. At first my wife(who is very SDA) was angry with me for attending SDB church but now she seems to be accepting it. I still have to go to SDA church with her when she is not on duty on Saturday(she is a nurse). But every Saturday she is on duty I go to SDB church and have even told the pastor there that I want to be re-baptised in the SDB Church. My wife no longer gets upset with me about it and doesn't even argue about it. But if I were going to a Sunday church she would NEVER in a million years accept that. Please understand that I understand the Sabbath is not binding on Christians but also it's just as ok to worship on Saturday as it is on Sunday. This is the only way I am able to transition out of the SDA Church and keep peace in my family. It seems to be working, praise God! (Message edited by Reb on May 22, 2007) |
