I like to tell all of you what God brings into my life and today it is some one special. No, not a boyfriend, if that is what you are thinking. I work in a long term acute care hospital. Today I received an order to do an evaluation on a male patient. The chart said Fr. J. B. My first thought was Catholic priest. So the PT and I go to the room to do the evaluations for OT and PT. The man was not feeling well, so we said we would go back later in the day. After 2 PM we went back. It turns out the man is an Orthodox priest. We finished our evals and the PT walked out. So, I opened my big mouth and told him I became a Christian a little over 2 1/2 years ago and that the church I left had cult like beliefs. He asked what I had been before. When I said Seventh day Adventist, you should have seen the look in his eyes as he said he has dealt with them before. I am looking forward to working with him and talking to him some more. He has invited me to his churches food festival, as his guest. I told him I want to visit other Christian churches to see how they worship and I will visit his church. It is not far from where I live. I cannot help but think that this is a God incident. God does bring all kinds of interesting people into my life and I am very thankful. He will be a very interesting patient. Diana |

Some of the most interesting people I know are Orthodox priests. I remember meeting one in an airport in Bucharest Romania and asking him all kinds of questions... right when I was leaving SDAism. He had quite a bit of knowledge about SDAs too, because you know how many SDAs are in Romania... there are like 950 SDA churches in the country. Alot of people view the Orthodox church as a sort of "museum"... this is how church USED to be done... I remember my first visit to an Eastern church; I thought I had stepped back at least 1000 years in time! Jeremiah

Today I worked with the Orthodox priest. After we were finished with the treatment I asked him what it was about SDAs. As he told me they have no theology, they have nothing from the Bible the look in his face and eyes told it all. I could not talk to him long. I look forward to other conversations. Diana |

I have worked with several people from different backgrounds - Methodist, Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran, etc. When bringing up the subject of being a former sda, the two common impressions are legalism and strange beliefs not found in the Bible. Some even say that they don't believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, that's a tough one to explain..."kinda, sorta, well....it depends on who you talk to". |
