I went and saw "Jesus Camp" yesterday afternoon. Not sure what to expect. It ended up being a documentary on a Penecostal youth camp. One of the things that jumped out at me was when one of the main boys about 12-14 yoa talked about worship service. He said God did not like going to churches that sat there with their hands in their laps mumbling "We worship You...". That God wants to be in churches with excitement and praise. While his take was a liitle extreme I did have to kind of smile thinking back about all the services I sat through that were dark and depressing. |

Same here - the last time I was in an SDA church they were singing a wonderful hymn, but it was like they were just mouthing the words like robots. I'm sure there were some who weren't but that was my observation. |

Even though my name was not on the church books, I attended church, once in a while. I like to sing so when I attended church I sang out. At times I thought I was singing a solo. This happened in VA. The celebration church I attended in Las Vegas, had lively, loud music, so no one except the leader of the music was heard. But there were not lots of smiles as I saw it. I am just so happy not being a part of that any more. Diana |

Yes, the worship in church is one of the most continually surprising and moving parts of being in a church of people who know and truly love Jesus. I still can't get over the fact that the men actually SING. In Adventism, it seemed most of the men barely moved their lips unless they were trained singers. What an amazing thingóboth men and women actually sing and know Jesus and worship Himóand both men and women even raise hands in praise! Awesome. Colleen |
