Please pray for the following family, and the staff and campers at Cohutta Springs Youth Camp, run by Ga Cumberland Conf of SDA. Im attaching part of the announcement of the death of one of the campers at camp this week, a sweet, dedicated Christian girl. (I did not know this girl, but know many of the staff and campers, including my son who is at camp there this week), and they are of course devastated, and in need of prayer: On July 11, 2006, Bethany was participating in Cohutta Springs Youth Campís Wakeboard Teen Specialty Camp at Carterís Lake in Georgia. At around 3:00 p.m., Bethany fell while wakeboarding. Camp staff members who saw Bethany fall say there was nothing that made the fall appear abnormal and that the boat was moving at a normal speed for wakeboarding. However, when Bethany did not respond, a certified lifeguard on-board the boat immediately entered the water and responded with first aid. A camp staff member called 911 from the boat, and when medics arrived at the pier and assessed Bethany, an air ambulance was called to take her to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. Doctors would later determine that Bethany was brain dead. She was kept on life support until her request to be an organ donor could be honored. Along with other friends Bethany had signed a card requesting to be an organ donor last year during a church service at the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Church. Cohutta Springs Youth Camp Director Rob Lang says he and his staff are still in shock. ìWe are devastated at the loss of Bethany,î says Lang. ìWords cannot express to the Kacak family how sorry we are for their loss. The prayers of our entire camp staff and Bethanyís fellow campers are with the Kacak family.î Bethany was a member of the Gainesville, Ga., Seventh-day Adventist Church where her family is an active part of the church. www.gccsda.com for story and picture Lori |

So sad a story praying that God will be glorified in this, even though it might be hard to see how or why. I'm praying for the girls familiy, for your boy and for everybody there that they may be comforted in Jesus Christ our God, and see that he is truely good and faithful and full of love. |

This is heartbreaking! I once spent a summer driving the ski boat at the SDA camp in Michigan, and have many memories of much the campers looked forward to getting on the water. This is very, very difficult for all involved. I will be praying for Bethany's family and all the campers and staff. May God be with them. |
