I don't know how many of you have ever taken the time to or had the opportunity to listen to any of Doug Bachelor's radio show, "Bible Answers Live!" but I listened to a few segments this afternoon. All I gotta say is WOW that guy is slick! If you weren't grounded in the Word, I can see how you might be taken in by his fast-talking and out-of-context responses to questions. Here's the link to some of the questions and answers: http://www.amazingfacts.org/media/radio/question_archive.asp I've only listed to a few on the Sabbath and Health, but some of these responses are just so deceitful. |

Heretic, I've listened to him do some of his Q & A's online on 3ABN or on the church's HOPE channel. I agree; he is slick, fast talking, and if one is not grounded in Scripture, one is likely to follow Doug right down the garden path. I just listened to one of the health questions you linked to above; he doesn't deal with the text accurately, and he is completely deceptive. He's very convincing to the unwary and uninformed. Heretic, Thanks for the link. We do get Batchelor's program locally in San Bernardino on 590 AM. There was a time when I would tune in regularly. But, after awhile, I just couldn't take it anymore. Doug is someone who seems thoroughly dominated by the spirit of Adventism. He has his answers down pat, and he is a very brilliant man. He did convert from Judaism to Adventism, and his conversion story is actually quite remarkable. He was living in caves, and hooked on alcohol and drugs. It is on the basis of his conversion story, and slick use of scriptures, that people really follow after him. Even evangelical Christian radio stations think he is great. I am praying that someday God will open his spiritual eyes to the truth that Christ fulfills our Sabbath rest. If this were to happen, he would be a brillian spokesmen against Adventism, and for Biblical Christianity. Stan |

I am probably too skeptical, but whenever I have listened to "Bible Answers Live!î. I have the distinct impression that those who call the show are plants. The manner that questions are asked make me think that the caller is an SDA reading a script. Call me pragmatic! Larry |

I used to watch Doug Bachelor on 3abn and the thing I noticed is that he reads alot deaper into scripture than is actually there. Of course at the time I didn't think this, but now I sure do. I read his book about his life in that cave. I have to admit that it was pretty fascinating at the time. There is so much deception in that church. It's sad that there are so many good people being in spiritual bondage and they don't even know it. Andy |

Larry - I've seen what you are speaking of first hand. The Adventists do have a lot of plants in their programs. I saw it on Adventist health television programs. I remember seeing people from my church raising their hands in the audience of these television programs and being called on stage. One person that was called on many times is now a Pastor with a prominent Adventist background (he wasn't a Pastor then, he was a writer for an Adventist television program). While I was in the deception, I just could not see it. But now it is so clear to me, what was going on. The way Doug does things is the same style as the It is Written Program. Even evangelicals who are well grounded in the word see such Adventists as solid Christians, just a little off beat, so to speak. The bible tells me the we don't know the schemes of Satan. He is the master of deception, not necessarily the people in the church. People are not capable of being this cleverly deceptive on their own.

Lynne, your assesment of this type of deception is interesting and true. Just yesterday I was reading one of Ellen's manuscript releases (#760, I believe) in which she was condemning Ballanger as leaving the truth by not agreeing with the Adventist Sanctuary Doctrine. In this MS she said that mixing truth with error is a most effective means of deception. Odd how she so accurately described her own publications! Colleen |

Stan, you said "I am praying that someday God will open his spiritual eyes to the truth that Christ fulfills our Sabbath rest. If this were to happen, he would be a brilliant spokesmen against Adventism, and for Biblical Christianity." This is something that we formers should continue to keep in mind as we pray for those still deceived by the spirit of Adventistm. Those who are the most resolute defenders of SDAism seem to become the most tenacious guardians of the true Gospel once the blinders are removed in Christ. Present company is an excellent example! |

But remember that Jesus used uneducated fishermen to start spreading his Gospel. Then He chose Saul the persecutor of those who chose to follow Christ. Diana |
