I have been recently reviewing suggestions for effective Bible study such as those found at the following links, and wondered if you have any links that you especially like?

http://www.quango.net/brinsmead/historicalmethod.HTM
http://www.biblicalhermeneutics.net/
http://hermeneutics.kulikovskyonline.net/hermeneutics/hermeneutics.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_hermeneutics

http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/other_documents/other_doc4.html (This would be good if they could stick to the Bible. It is unfortunate that they can't even study the Bible without incorporating frequent "guidance" from Ellen White. One could replace the references with Doctrines and Covenants, or Pearl of Great Price, and hand it out to the Mormons.)

Gilbert, I have had time to check out some of the links above. I notice the first link 'guango' is a link from Robert Brinsmead. All I can say about his method of Bible study is that it caused him to deny the doctrine of inerrancy.

I do have a suggestion of a very good book on Biblical hermeneutics, and that is "Knowing Scripture" by R.C. Sproul published by Intervarsity. It is very practical and trustworthy.

Riverfonz, thankyou for your valuable suggestions. I will look up the book you suggested. Regarding Brinsmead, I wondered what had caused him to follow the course he is currently pursuing. Of course, Adventists will say that is evidence of what happens when one strays from the writings of Ellen White. We all know better. It is very sad to see someone of his stature end up where he has spiritually though. I've wondered what happened.

It appears that he has had a big influence on the Worldwide Church of God's thinking on the Sabbath.

Gilbert, Yes, Brinsmead has had a very big impact on both SDA and WWCOG, but unfortunately he has wandered a long way from the faith he used to proclaim.
