I know that Richard had a tendency to have a trash mouth, but I've sensed the heart of that man on many occasions. I know that he has opened whole avenues for so many people. Also, since he came down with MS I noticed, even though he was so rarely mentioned, that he became very spiritual. He frequently acknowledged that he knew the Lord had given him his career. I cannot judge completely about another person's salvation, but I do pray that Richard is at the feet of Jesus now. |

I agree with you about Richard's mouth. I however, grew up with him in my home, by way of albums and movies, (Some of which I STILL enjoy - The Toy). I also pray the he found the forgiving grace of Jesus Christ. |

Did RP pass away? It kind-of seems like that from reading this thread. Did he sware alot? I know he didn't get no respect but I don't recall ever hearing him sware. BTW, I took my kids when they were very young to see the South Park movie. It holds the record for the "f" word most used in any movie. I have rented that movie. I just might break down and purchase it because it's such a classic. I never had the time back years ago to keep up with comedians such as RP. However, I love the Chappel Show, Redneck humor and pretty much everything that comes on Comedy Central. Also, the Menchia Show is great. But, South Park is my favorite. May God bless and keep RP's soul. |

Richard Pryor was one of the original trash-mouthed comics. He was raised in a house of ill repute by a mother who had no idea who was his father. However, RP became the spokesperson for the despair felt, but not articulated by a lot of inner city kids, and this was in the 60's when he got his start. He died Sunday of heart failure at the age of 65. |

Belva, do you have any evidence for Pryor's conversion to Christianity before he died? I had lost track of his career. Stan |

Stan, the only evidence I've had were a couple of appearances I've seen on cable after he came down with MS, and the mention in the obit I read a couple of days ago where he was quoted as owing his success and his career to God. I am fully aware of him being one of the first shock comics, and that is the image most people have of him. I try to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. After he was grounded by MS he eventually got to the point where he could barely speak, much the same as Muhammad Ali. I've seen his performances in a couple of movies that seemed to come across as him making a personal faith statement. Like I said, I'm always looking at each soul as redeemable right up to the moment when they have no more moments left. |
