Pastor O'Ffill is still smarting from our "viscious" attacks on EGW and the 3 Angels' Message that occurred last winter. This thread will tell the tale of his continuing to delete things from his site that he is unwilling to discuss: http://www.revivalsermons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=769 It is clear that he views an attack on Ellen as though it were an attack on his parents, or someone else that is dear to him. Discussions about Jesus are not nearly as closely edited or controlled. Things at R/S continue apace. |

What makes me the maddest in that thread is they think they can read hearts and judge salvation now. Did you see the post about the lady baptized into a non-SDA church, who said all the "right words" but rejected the SDA health message, tithing, etc. and now is deemed lost!!! Very upsetting...and why respond when your post will be deleted by Pastor O'Fill? Speaking of him, he made an interesting Ellen quote, he said she siad, (paraphrasing) "debate is pointless and will eventually lead to the debator losing faith in her/3 Angels, etc." Gee, maybe because they eventually see the LIGHT?! |

Debate IS useless. Inculcation is useful. Theological discussions are "divisive". Question-and-answer prooftext Bible studies are unifying. Facts, evidence, and Scriptures are subjective. Ellen White is objective truth. Ellen White didn't understand her visions, gets taken out of context, and made many mistakes. Believe every word she said. The more things change, The more they stay the same. |

I posted this originally because I was appalled to see that O'Ffill and Company were equating the Three Angels' Messages with The Gospel of Salvation. The Gospel brings life, the warnings of ALL the angels is for the lost, or those who are choosing spiritual blindness. These guys have chosen to read the Three Angels' Messages and avoid the writings of Paul that speak so clearly about the Gospel. That totally validates your comment, Weimarred, about chosen blindness. |

Pastor O'Fill said, "It is my understanding that Jones and Waggonner later failed to practise the most blessed message in their own lives. Does this tell us something about a head knowledge vs an on-going daily committment?" Growing up, my daily commitment was precisely that very same head knowledge! In other words, there was no difference to me between the "head knowledge" that I gained as an SDA, and the "daily commitment". Once again, you cannot apply a sliderule to the Bible and expect accurate results. A sliderule is logical, spiritual discernment is just that, spiritual. And, as can be seen from the various posts over there, even when you can use a sort of logic to demonstrate that they have innacurately iterpreted the Bible, they refuse to yield the point. It's difficult, next to impossible, for some to "re-calibrate" their thinking. -Tom |

Some more amazing quotes from "Pastor" O'Ffill -- "I have said that Billy Graham saves people, in that he gets them ready for the resurrection, but that the Adventist message gets people ready for translation." "I didn't mean to say our message doesn't save the lost (of course it does) but it does more- it keeps the saved from being lost." "The message of this church is the firewall that will keep the errors of the enemy from overthrowing the people of God just before the close of probation." WOW - not only does their MESSAGE save the lost, it KEEPS them SAVED! And even more - it makes them ready for TRANSLATION! And here I thought it was believing in Jesus Christ and that saved me, and that it is the work of the Holy Spirit that will "keep the errors of the enemy from overthrowing the people of God"! No wonder I was confused as an SDA. It is double speak! -tisha |

What difference does it make whether someone is in heaven via resurrection or translation? I do realize, however, that an SDA's preference is usually for translation. I remember discussing in academy Bible class how it is that if you ate meat you could not be translated, but would have to die first and then be resurrected. We couldn't allow ourselves to believe it would be a punishment to die for disobeying the law of health and eating a little meat now and then (not that I ever had at that time). Our class decided that probably eating any meat at all made a person enough physically weaker that they couldn't withstand the time of trouble and they would therefore die before the Second Coming. Isn't it amazing the mental gymnastics and leaps of logic people have to go through to make sense of the strange SDA statements? |

Freeatlast, I like your list and as I think back on my life as an SDA I see how this was done in my life. Thank God, I do not have to do that any more. It is so mind freeing to know Jesus is all I need and He will take care of me. God you are so awesome. Diana |

Good list, Freeatlast! Praise God that He pulled out and to Himself! (HE did it--not a doctrine, not my obedience--HE did it!) Colleen |
