Jess, Those are amazing quotes. How I wish we had that type of moral and doctrinal clarity today as those men did! Now, leaders who bring Christ into the public square are ridiculed. President Bush has been ridiculed for openly expressing his faith. He even admitted to reading Oswald Chambers "My Utmost For His Highest", and was made fun of. I think on this 4th of July weekend we should turn our attention to special prayer for our country, and for our leaders. I think of the troops in Iraq, with that body armor on in 130 degree heat, we pray for the safety of all of our Armed Forces. We should also be in prayer for President Bush, as he is challenged with the task of choosing a replacement for Sandra Day O'Connor, who resigned. So much in the way of the values that we as Christians stand for is being challenged, and let's pray that the President will pick the right person for the job. Happy 4th of July everyone! Stan | ||

Another AMEN to Stan's comments. In SDA school I learned that our Founding Fathers did not claim Christianity. I can see why now. Thank God for our Founding Fathers and their faith which they proclaimed for posterity. Diana | ||

Thank you Jess for these awesome quotes, I've just read them out loud to my children. I've often explained to them the original intentions behind the "separation of church and state" and how it has become so skewed; but this has truly brought it home for them! This is a very large part of what they need to know and understand in order to vote responsibly with heart and head. It's very important for us to know our past and what these great men intended, because we have been led astray in these last decades, and it is up to us to get back on track. We must educate first ourselves and then our children. Those of you who have involved yourself in your children's public education already know what kind of indoctrination they are receiving, I work daily to counter it in my own children so that they know the truth.
