This past Saturday, I had a very lovely experience. I met a member of this forum in Las Vegas. She was there with her children. This person is Belva. God is so good. He arranged it so we could meet and spend time with each other. It was so good meeting an FAF member. I am still smiling at the good time I had meeting her. Now, I have another friend, and not just an e-mail friend. Belva, hope you had a Happy Birthday. I really am glad we met. Hope you enjoyed Las Vegas, including getting lost returning to your hotel. It really is a fun city. Thank you God for another friend. You are so awesome. Diana | ||

Thank you for the kind words, Diana. I had a wonderful time with you, and Jenny, my daughter, was also happy to have met you. You are a gracious hostess when you are showing your city, and I agree with you that it was probably more fun getting a little "turned around" than it would have been to simply go directly from one place to another. Jenny was thrilled with her "pawn shop" purchases, and so am I. For the rest of you, the merchandise available at Las Vegas pawn shops is first rate. I kinda felt bad about taking advantage of what was obviously someone else's misfortune, but that wore off very soon after. Las Vegas is quite a town to spend a birthday in, because you can find almost anything there. I'm very impressed with the airport in LV, too, because they have taking care of the travelers down. These people have been dealing with large numbers of people coming and going from their Fantasy Land for Adults for so long that they can handle anything. Everybody, Diana is a sweetheart (surprise, surprise)! Yes, I know you already know that, but I felt I should just confirm what was already obvious. Like she has said above, this was my first opportunity to meet another former SDA (other than family) and it is very reassuring to talk with someone who shares a love for Jesus and for His People like that. The birthday was great, mostly doing the casino crawl (if you have feet like mine that is all you can do). We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe (MGM Grand) and the waiter was a real character who brought me a flaming sundae, and then at the Bellagio Buffet I ate my fill of king crab, my favorite treat. We lost a few quarters in the slots, but when you are as stingy as me, the word "few" means a lot. I can take money and throw it out the window and feel like it was better spent that putting it into a noisy machine. God bless you all, and it is so good to be home again. | ||

There is a monorail and tramways between the big hotels. Those things (the hotels/casinos) are massive -- MASSIVE. Wear comfortable shoes, make certain everyone is set up with a buddy system, and nobody goes exploring alone or you will never find them again. It might even be helpful if everyone had a cell phone or walkie-talkie, or was physically linked to someone who had such a device. You can walk for miles, literally, and still be inside the same building. Be prepared for gimics, realize that all of the stuff is phoney, and just have a blast. Oh, and bring money. I remember going to Hawaii and having the tour guide say that the one thing all visitors to the islands never bring enough of is money. One could say the same about Vegas. | ||

Belva, Thank you. I have to tell everyone, Belva is a terrific person. I think you all know that also. It was so nice, talking in person with someone who has transitioned from SDA. Oh, remember that church I mentioned, "Living Water Fellowship"? It is an SDA church. How are your feet? Pheeki, When you come to Vegas, contact me so we can meet also. I love meeting new people, especially people from FAF. There is something special about them because of what they went through and the joy they have now.
