I want to know what happens when we die according to the Bible not Sister White. I am lost on the subject. I have been out of adventism for 4 years now and have come a long way. But I am looking for this answer.
Thanks, Sharon

Hi Sharon, welcome to the forum! I look forward hearing your story, as well as listening to the answers that are posted to your question.

I'm Mary, in California. I've been out only 1 year so far.

Hi Sharon,

Welcome to the FAF! I'm sure I speak for everyone that we are very glad you're here.

Your question is a great one. Here's a fairly short article that should give you some things to think about: http://www.ratzlaf.com/Streifling%20Death.pdf

You'll find a host of other articles there at that site which may interest you, as well. They are listed on this page: http://www.ratzlaf.com/downloads.htm

Anyhow, I hope this helps.

Once again, welcome!

Heretic

Welcome to the forum, Sharon!

There was a thread not too long ago on here, where the issue was discussed and a lot of very helpful Bible references were given, etc. :-) Here is the link: http://rtinker.powweb.com/discus/discus/messages/11/2873.html?1111686177

God bless,
Jeremy

Welcome, Sharon! I'm glad to see you here! I'll send you a recent Proclamation that dealt with the issue of mankind's spirit or soul as well.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story!

Sharon, I will add my welcome to that of the others. I also have been out of adventism, officially, a little over a year. I just did not rejoin the church.
You will find we are a caring, friendly group of people here. Discussions can get lively, but it is done with a spirit of love and caring.
Let us know more about you when you are ready.
God is awesome.

Welcome Sharon to FAF. I would like to say that I have just read and re-read several times Colleen's article in the Sept/Oct. '04 Proclamation!, and found it very helpful. I have been out of SDA 20 years, and had not really studied this issue very much, because I considered it unimportant. But after reading the article about "Breath, or core identity", I realize how important this topic of the human spirit is, as it has so many radical implications in regard to the nature of man, Christ, Salvation, and living the Christian life. So, thanks for introducing yourself and for introducing an important topic as well. Stan

Welcome, Sharon.
I must whole-heartedly agree with Stan...Colleen's Proclamation article is a clear, understandable message that I believe came directly from God for those of us wrestling with this subject. Somewhere on this forum Colleen summarized her thoughts of "Breath or Core Identity". I don't believe it is in the thread that Jeremy posted above.

Thanks everyone and thanks Colleen. Do you have my address? I don't know if you have my email address but I'm glad to give it. This subject has been something I just have to find out about because it just keeps popping up. I have enjoyed my study on covenents and that has helped. Sam Pestes's articles,"Abraham messenger to the 21st century" was awesome.
Thanks for making me feel at home here.

I went into search and put the word dead into it and found the thread here. I kind of get lost here. Thanks again for the info. I went into the links heretic and printed the first one. Boy it was informative. I did go into the other liks but was too tired to dig into the information I will keep studing though. It is just something I needed to find out about at this time.
I was an Adventist for over 18 years give or take a couple years I wasn't active. I made a comment when I was first studying with them that I found nothing in Sister White's writtings that contridicted the Bible and if I ever did then I would no longer be a SDA. A friend of mine in church committed suicide and it went from there. I went to the funeral and quit going to church. I realized there was a blackness in my heart that I could not figure out how it got there. I hated everyone and everything. I hated life.
I realize now it was trying to keep the old covenant that had put the hate into my heart. I could not keep it and if I could not keep it then why be a christian. Like I shared in the prayer forum though, I started sneaking back into first this church and then that church and eventually found a good bible teaching church that preached the bible and showed me God's love. I asked for prayer one day at church and within 3 days found FAF and related links that showed me all the contridictions of Sister White and that gave me the freedom to start learning what God wanted me to do with my life. Sam Pestes's book Abraham messenger to the 21st century was great in helping me to understand the differences in the covenants. Thank God today I live under the new covenant and God is my only Savior. He will never leave me nor forsake me. Praise God.
Thank you all for being here for those of us who so desperately need you.
God bless you all.

One way to find recent things is to click on the 'last day' and/or 'last week' links at the bottom left corner of the screen. I really like those features!

Also you can click 'topics', and then 'discussion' to see the whole list of threads that have been started here on the forum.

And of course theres the search feature that you've already found as well!

Speaking of Sam Pestes, I'm listening to the 'Stonecutter's Bride' tapes right now. I'm really enjoying them!

I find Sam Pestes has a way of saying things simply enough for me to understand. Sometimes people start talking way over my head. Like I said before, I had to start with just the basics when I left Or should I say when I started coming back to Jesus.
John 3:16
God bless
