I have mentioned that some SDA friends have been conducting an ongoing Bible Study. This year, they decided to study through a book by Morris Venden, "Wonderful Words of Life" New pictures of grace through the parables of Jesus. It seems to have very little to do with grace, and have very few wonderful words. Several paragraphs in particular really reveals a confused rhetoric... "The other day someone noticed that I am concerned about the future of this church-and I am. How could I not be concerned that some would lead this church down the road to its own death? Yes, I am concerned. ... You ask, "Who are they? Give us some names." I'm not interested in telling you who they are. But I will tell what they are and what they do. People who tell jokes about the end time could lead this church to its death. People who talk more against the church than they do about Jesus will lead this church to its death. People wha re leaders in our church and who are loose on Sabbath keeping could lead this church to its death... People who want a nondoctrinal witness of nothing more than love everybody could lead this church to its death. People who are soft on the inspired writings, the greatest gift to our church in these last hundred years, could lead this church to its death. People who make fun of vegetarianism, which was God's idea in the first place, could lead this church to its death. People who think that dress and adornment are not important issues could lead this church to its death.... Oh, you say, aren't you nitpicking? No, because these are symptoms. These are symptoms of those who are not serious with God." This quote from p20 & 21 of his book are from a chapter about the parable of New wine , Old bottles. I don't know if I have ever heard a bigger bunch of malarky in my life. This after reading about some of the material of the coverup involving Venden. I am so through with all of this. The arrogance of Vendens diatribe against independent thought is quite like that of EGW. |

I'm sorry, Goldenbear for being such a ditz (I'm not exactialy blond, but my hair is grey, I guess that's close enough.) but what for Pete's sake did the above quote have to do with grace? I will write out my testemony and mail it to Colleen. I would like for her to put it on the stories section of this website. In writing out this testemony I will put the ahh! moment I figured out grace. It is a far cry from the quote I just read above. |

I am a firm believer that demons walk amongst us everyday. In the begining it was all so simple. God told man one thing not to do. Satan twisted God's statement just enough to mislead Eve. When Christ came. He presented more than just a statement from God. He represented the path to God. So now Satan covers the path with branches to obscure it from view. All of this rhetoric whether we accept it or not. Is a tool of satan. It is what Satan is using today to twist the instructions from God. First it was the father, then it was the Son. SDA, jehovah witness, Church of God, Branch Davidian; it all serves the same purpose. If it does not teach the correct Gospel of Jesus Christ something is drastically wrong. But to spread such heresy is even worse. All of Venden's books and any other individual that teaches an alternative to what according to the scripture should be accepted is blatantly evil. The same thing that he is doing is the same thing that Satan did in Eden. And the same thing that he did after the ressurection an that is pervert the Gospel. It is all of Satan. Case in point, an inspired supposed man of God who writes such chronicles that blends the Jesus Christ with EGW, has a history of extra-marital sex. Not just once with this secretary. He also destroys marriages in order to place himself with the wounded wife. What kind of man of God does such things. But he can write about what Jesus Christ is really trying to say to us. Evil Evil Evil That is like the guy in the ice cream truck giving out grape flavored anthrax popsicles. |

Okay, here's a pet peeve of mine. Why do SDAs always say they are having a "Bible Study", then study some book? There's certainly nothing wrong with discussing books written by Godly men and women, but it's a "book discussion" NOT a "Bible Study". Chris |

Chris, funny you should mention your "pet peeve" because that happens to be mine also. I told my mom a couple of weeks ago that I was going to a seminar on "the character of Christ" at the Presbyterian church around the corner from where I live. The first thing she said to me was "oh, thats nice. What book are they using?" I wanted to shout back "THEY'RE USING THE BIBLE! WHAT OTHER MORE IMPORTANT BOOK IS THERE????". But of course I didn't shout. --Valerie |

I agree. Bible is is BIBLE study. Anything else is studying someone's ideas without a ground of truth to center one. Colleen |

Aargh, Chris! That is exactly what bothered us. Every! single time we talked to SDA's about getting together for a Bible study, their very first question was, "oh, which one of sister white's books are we going to study"! And then there were those who couldn't do a Bible study unless the pastor could be there. Okey dokey, so we asked the pastor to come. Well, no, he didn't think he "could handle a Bible study because it would be too much work". Isn't that pathetic?! |
