Susan, you can purchase the church manual. However, with a GC coming up this summer you might want to wait because they might change the rules.

Yeah, they are adding another distinctive making it 28 fundamentals rather than the 27 they now have. I found one in a thrift store awhile back that I bought and sent to Colleen. It still only had 22 fundamentals. If they'd stick to the Apostle's Creed they wouldn't have to revise their position ever. |

Oh, yeah. There it goes once again the herd migrating toward GC Mecca. Lemme see, I got 4 pastors in my family. Imagine four regular, 2004 American pastors, substract 20 years and add 5,000 miles--for the General Congress Meet. I would give anything to see a "no-holds-barred," "let's-hash-it-out," yet, "disagree- without-being-disagreeable" debate on EGW. No Colleen, I don't smoke pot. I just dream what it would be like discussing this--EGW-- and many other things openly.

How many of us on here have SDA ministers in our kin? As well as others employed by the SDA denomination in various positions? I'll bet it comes to a large percentage of us on here. It sure can make a person feel like the fish out of water at the family gatheings. |

Where is the big meeting this year? Since SDA's hand out pamphlets outside a Billy Graham's meeting, I think it would be the perfect place to hand out Dale's "Truth About SDA Truths" pamplet. I nominate those of you who live closest. Do I hear a second? |

Dd, I second that nomination. I will even buy some of the pamphlets to be handed out. Where do I buy them and who do I send them to??? What about handing out these tracts outside a Revelation Seminar??? I do not have close kin that are in the minister category. The son of one my father's cousin's is an SDA minister. None as far as I know work for the denomination other than that minister. My Dad's family is SDA, nominal, that is, as most of them married outside the SDA church. My Mom's family is Catholic. One of her cousins is a priest. Mom always believed that her cousin will be in Heaven. Diana |

I haven't asked my parents but I am sure they will be attending. Trust me, anyone who goes to these GC Sessions is not going to take a pamphlet. I remember when I was in academy (the last session I ever attended with my parents) there were people across the street with pickets. I don't remember the cause but I remember the pure hatred and contempt my parents and their cronies had for this group of people. Save your $$$, Diana, but let's be sure to pray that God in His Sovereignty will somehow touch the hearts of those attending with His love and grace. His great plan includes SDA leadership...praise God He works despite all the dysfunctional errors... |

Dd, They are in my prayers, every day. But it would be fun to try. Just a thought. That is amazing. SDAs hand out literature at Graham meetings and Christians treat them so nicely. Yet when they are handed pamphlets the SDAs treat others with contempt. I guess everything I have read on here about SDAs is the way they are and that is deplorable. That is very sad and that is why we pray for them, especially as a group on Saturday afternoon. God knows his sheep and they know His voice and will come to Him. God is awesome. It is something I do not understand. Diana |

Dd and Diana, you make an interesting point. Adventists feel completely justified in shaming others, breaking boundaries, insisting on special treatment, etc. in order to defend their peculiar beliefs. If anyone counters them or presumes to meet them on equal footing, they cannot tolerate it. It reminds me of the psychological truism that defensiveness generally indicates somem level of guilt or embarrassment or shame. Those with completely clear consiences can be calm about their statements. Those who defend themselves insistently tend to reveal some level of guilt. God is so good to heal our hearts as well as to save our souls. Colleen |

Folks, I would also be willing and pass out Dale's literature in St. Louis. Except that I have yet to decide on my summer school plans yet. Keep me posted, I would like to help, somehow. By the way, I have 5 pastors in my family. Ouch! |

And I shudder to think that I used to pray that God would bring all my family back to his "remnant church". For a very short time I, also, did not like the fact that my son married a young lady who was not SDA. Of course he practiced it like I did, inconsistently. Thank God that He redeems our past (thank you Colleen), heals our hearts and saves our souls. Isn't He awesome. Diana |
