One of the reasons I think that book is so impactful is that it does reach the individual at an emotional level. i know that there are wonderful intellectual, scholarly books, but there is something about speaking to someone's heart that has significance and touches people in a unique way. i pray he has his eyes opened and understands the true yearnings he feels in his heart ... it's source and solution. | ||

PraiseGod, I will also continue to pray for David and his wife. They face an enormous decision and a great unknown, but I pray that they will be convicted to follow Jesus and to trust Him for their sustenance and for direction. It is both terrifying and exhilarating to walk away--as I know all of us know! I pray they will experience Jesus and know Him in a new way at this conference, and that they'll be convicted to follow truth. Colleen | ||

Romans 10:11 For the Scripture says, Whoever puts his trust in Him will not be put to shame. As we pray for our SDA family, friends, ministers, and everyone from the GC down to the smallest church and all the unchurched formers and everyone else we have mentioned on here let us remember this text. Whoever puts his trust in Him will not be put to shame. I like that text. God stands behind His Word. What better guarantee can we have? He is awesome. I have David and his wife on my prayer list too! Praise God for the hearts He's softening!!! Yesterday I had the privilege of taking a trip away from the office with one of my coworkers. Just last week I had sent a little note to them stating our resignation from the church...I felt I should make an official statement to them being that they were slightly aware of our questions, and I wanted them to be realize where we'd been led...and also not to be shocked when it gets around. So anyway, we got in the car and she asked me about it. And God just gave me the words and the texts came to mind and I praise Him because He allowed me to share the gospel with someone who I didn't know would be responsive, and she listened and we talked for 3 hours and she asked questions and it was so AWESOME! I got to share what Christ has come to mean to me, and she promised to start reading Galatians prayerfully last night. So I just ask that you remember Shelly also in your prayers this weekend, as she has a lot to think about, as each of us did as we started to question things  Also, I'd appreciate prayers on sunday as our head elder is coming to meet with us regarding our membership withdrawal... I can't help but be nervous. But I know that God is in control, and this is His timing, and not mine. I praise Him for His excellence! For His provision to bring all of us who love Him and seek for Him, to Himself...despite our weakness. Oh how I love Him! | ||

Esther, I will indeed pray for you (and already have). I know how stressful it can be to meet with a pastor or elder knowing that you will be unable to agree on much. I admire your bravery though. What you are doing is an especially valiant thing in the tiny SDA village of Berrien Springs. It's not easy to become an outsider in a "company" town. May the Lord bless, keep, and strengthen you. May your strength of character, commitment to Christ, and reliance on Him inspire others. Chris | ||

Esther, I will remember your friend Shelley in my prayer and your meeting with the elder from the church. God is triumphant and He will put the words he wants in your mouth and bring texts to your memeory. For some reason the SDA church I attended and where I did not become a member has decided to treat me like a church member. They have started sending me a monthly newsletter of what is happening in the church. An SDA church is being started here in Henderson. I wrote to the head minister earlier this year and asked that my name not be put in the church member book. And now I am receiving this. I am praying about what to do. I will pray about it, because I do not want to get nasty, but I do not want any contact with them. Please pray for me as I contact them, again. Looking forward to meeting with all of you in prayer tomorrow at 1 PM PT. God is awesome and He is still in charge. Diana | ||

Praying for Shelly and your head elder, Esther. Isn't it exciting to see the way that the Holy Spirit gives us the right words and the right texts at the right time! As we pray today for all SDAs, let's continue to pray for deception to be exposed. I get an e-mail newsletter called Church Business. Yesterday's had a link to an article entitled "Faith Based Health Promotion Works." What is left unsaid is that the health of participants isn't their real goal. It's to turn everyone into Adventists. From what I have seen since not rejoining the SDA church is that no matter what they do to help mankind, the ultimate goal is to get as many as they can to become SDAs. The folks are roped in any way that can be used. That is a shame. Diana | ||

Thanks for the prayers! We had a gorgeous weekend and God was good to us and provided lots of hope. Our meeting went really well. He is a more open minded SDA...he considers it an error how the church sets itself up for problems with EGW, legalism, etc. However, as we talked Stephen and I realized that this isn't a benefit for him...as he says "sure EGW makes mistakes, but there's mistakes in the Bible" or "sure the church is in error, but it's the closest to the truth". Anyway. The meeting was pleasant and I was able to present the covenants partially. And he wants to meet with us again to continue dialogue. I know that part of it is trying to convince us to not leave, but part of it seemed like it was actual curiosity...so we'll see. The blessing is that for Stephen and I we were able to see each others faiths expressed and when we talked afterwards we both said that it was very good to hear from each other 3rd person almost. Like we weren't dialoguing together as we normally would, but expressing ourselves to an outsider...and it strengthed us tremendously! God does work good in everything! I will pray for you as well Diana as you try to sort this out with the local church. | ||

A very dear friend of mine was killed in a car accident last night. His name is Kevin Woods. He has a son who just started college and a daughter still in high school. Many many time he has been there for me as a support when B would do something ... and they were also hosting a 40-days home Bible study group. This is a devastating loss for our church, his family obviously, and countless friends. His wife had been out of town visiting her son and is on her way back today. I can't even imagine what I could do to help her. | ||

Thanks all for your support. My mother told me this morning that my grandfather has pnuemonia and they aren't sure his body has the strength to fight it. he's close to 90. He will be in the hospital at least 10 days if the antibiotics are able to work, but they'll put him in the nursing home after that...of course, all of that is assumption at this point. The family is taking it day to day. The glorious part is both of these men are Christians and the loss we have on earth is nothing for them. We do not grieve as those who have no hope, though I know it is shock for Kevin's family and the rest of us, there is an eerie peace as well. It's very different from the loss of a non-Christian friend or someone you're unsure about. Thank you all for your prayers. I know his family is being surrounded and encouraged by their many spiritual siblings. | ||

Melissa, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather's pneumonia. And I am so happy to hear he is a Christian. I pray that what ever happens, God will hold everyone in the palm of His hands. Being a Christian sure makes a difference. God is awesome in His care for us. Diana |
