So, EGW communed with plants. That is really w-e-i-r-d. I honestly thought only hippies and weed growers did that. I got my two year degree (A.S.) in Landscape Horticulture and I can assure you none of us aggies were out there in the greenhouses, the lathhouses or the yards commuing with plants. We were too busy getting the work done. That is one EGW quote that I will copy and put in my references for ammuniation when my SDA loved ones acost me about my going astray. Thanks for the quote. Diana, your cat is named Fang? I would think with a name like Fang he woud never forget anything. That is a cool name, Fang. I like it. When I was in high school I had a friend whose cat was named Uncle Albert. I spent the night at her house once. My parents asked me where I slept. I told them I slept on the couch with Uncle Albert. I thought my parents were about to tear the place apart. I had some real quick explaining to do. Within a matter of sceonds I had to get it made very clear to them that Uncle Albert was no ones uncle. Uncle Albert was the cat. |

I misread it the first time. EGW said Adam and Eve communed with plants. Still looney in my book. I'll still write it down for future reference. |

So, EGW said Adam and Eve communed with plants? What did the plants say to them? "Don't eat us"? Hey, Susan 2...remember the proverb, spare the rod and spoil the child? Well, that applies to pets as well. That's why your cat is the head of your household now. :> |

Spokenfor, I've thought of that serpant talking and causing no apparent startle response in Adam and Eve, too. I don't kow what to think further than that. I've wondered about it, but I don't know if we can conclude anything further. There's surely not much information given...I have so many questions about history and the earth that I can't wait to learn about. For example, what did the earth look like before the flood? And was there, once upon a time, Pangea, where all the continents were actually one land mass? (Have you ever looked at their shapes on a map? They look as if they would fit together--) The questions could continue--I'm looking foward to seeing what we don't know. Have you ever pondered how much history we don't have? The first 10 chapters of Genesis cover creation to Babel, and then we meet Abraham. Wow, what really happened during those ages? And what was it like when the Nephilim were on the earth? Fascinating to ponder, but absolute clarity just isn't possible...so many questions! Colleen |

One debate about the pre-flood era was that mankind was a lot taller. I guess we "shrank in the wash" so to speak. |

One question I have is why did God create Lucifer when ultimately it was going to cost Jesus' life. Colleen, what are Nephilim? Jeannette |

They're mentioned in Genesis 6:4, in an enigmatic text that simply says this: "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." The chapter goes on to explain how wickedness permeated the earth, that "every inclination of the thoughts of [man's] heart was only evil all the time," (v. 5) and that God's heart was grieved (v. 6). All this led up to the flood. Interesting, cryptic passages... Colleen |

I think the Nephilim were the ones who were considered "giants". Some suggested that they were the offspring of fallen angels who had relations with human women, but some deny that theory as angels are spirits and can not take on human form to mate. Still...an interesting topic. It's true, we have limited background on what life was like before the flood. |

I agree Colleen, that we haven't enough information to base any conclusions on. It's interesting to ponder but we'll have to wait to have our questions answered! |
