Just a question. Is anyone going to cover the Texas meeting, this weekend, perhaps for Proclamation, or for this forum. It would be nice to get some idea of how it turns out. Even some pictures would be nice. Maybe someone could tape the messages and make them available for those of us who aren't able to travel that far. Just some suggestions? There, in the Spirit! <>< Thomas |

I've asked Dale Ratzlaff to report on it for Proclamation--if anyone out there has pictures of the weekend, we'd love for you to email them to us with explanations of who/what/when/where they were taken as well as with your name and your permission to print them if we can. Send them to formeradventist@yahoo.com or formeradventist@aol.com. Richard was saying this morning that we could post some reports and/or pics on this website, also. Thanks for bringing it up, Thomas! Colleen |

I and several friends attended. It was mostly a Hispanic meeting and was translated for the Hispanics (Dale's sermon, etc). The turnout was light but I got a blessing from it. I would like to see this better publicized and watch it grow. |

I would like that also. There are two Calvary Chapels here in Henderson, NV near me. Why not consider having the next reunion here. I am being selfish. Diana |

Yeah, but Henderson is soooo hot in the summer. How about Tahoe? Summers are nice, nites are cool for cookouts. There are both campgrounds and plenty of motels/hotels. Lots of hiking trails and good fishing. What more could you ask for? |

It does not have to be in the summer. It could be in the fall or spring. It is very nice here in Henderson at those times. Again, I say I am being selfish. Diana |

Yeah, Diana, but you also have a high crime rate. Up here in Tahoe we don't have much crime thanks to being able to carry concealed. Still, when the snow is 7 or 8 feet deep, well, Henderson is only about eight hours away..... |

Pw, No, I do not attend a Calvary Chapel. I visited one while I was praying and looking for a church to attend. God impressed me to go to another church. Loneviking, That is why I suggested the spring or fall. I have an SDA cousin who lives up that way and in her email to me talked about the snow. Also, if the reunion is in Henderson, I do have 2 bedrooms that I do not use except for company. Diana |

And remember, what an example we can be to SIN CITY USA (Las Vegas, NV) if the reunion is here. Like I have said before, I am being selfish. Diana |

NEBRASKA, THE GOOD LIFE! Of course, for geographical reasons, the second annual Former Adventist Conference should be held in Lincoln, Nebraska. Oh yes, there are several hundred people in this area with a SDA background that haven't attended a Seventh-day Adventist church in many years--even more than 20 years. A brief announcement in the local newspaper Spiritual Values section) would attract many former and inquiring Adventists to attend. College View is known by some as "Old Jerusalem"--more commonly as "Peanut Hill" (College View is now a suburb of Lincoln). Wow, here in Lincoln (designated as Tree City, USA), you can even see Ellen White depicted in the stained-glass windows of the College View SDA Church. Perhaps the local SDAs would let us borrow their nostalgic pulpit that Ellen White preached from while visiting Lincoln in yesteryear(smile). Consequently, the attendees would be able to touch and see an authentic Adventist relic. Dennis J. Fischer |

Dennis, you must know some "important" people if they would lend you the EGW pulpit for a Former Adventist reunion. I am smiling and laughing as I write this. Personally, I will not mention what I would do with a relic like that. Let me just say the barbeque fire would burn nice and bright. I am still campaigning for Henderson, NV in the fall or spring. There are a number of formers in the area beside byself. There is my sister, a woman an older sister went to academy with, myself and Colleen gave me the email address of another. I am sure there are others. Plus there are many SDAs in this area and a new SDA church is being established here in Henderson. There are many who do not like what is happening in the SDA church. When I was attending the church I spoke to various people and they agreed with me that the church did not know how to care for people. We could put an announcement in the newspaper. Just think of the seeds that can be planted here in Sin City, USA aka Las Vegas. And as I said I am being selfish. I want it here so I do not have to travel. Diana |

Do they really have stained glass windows at the church of EGW? Or, are you making a joke? Because, if they really have stained glass windows of EGW, then that's really far-out stuff. |

Susan, Yes, Ellen White is indeed depicted in the $100,000.00 stained-glass windows (south window in the sanctuary). Her picture is not large, but it is there nevertheless. Proudly, a special brochure for visitors points out the presence of Ellen White in the stained-glass. By the way, a Catholic lady designed the stained-glass windows (smile). This depiction is akin to a Catholic Pontiff being portrayed at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ a mile down the road. Interestingly, their similarities are not limited to legalism, schools, mutual charity investments, and hospitals. Dennis J. Fischer |

OK, I'm biased. But Central Florida, anytime in the cold of winter, has a nice ring to it! And, after the meetings there is a whole lot to do here. In the Son <>< Thomas |

I could drive to Lincoln from KC, I just want to see and touch a real "former" so my Thomas-side will know they really do exist. B thinks ya'll are just a bunch of fakes that were never really SDA to begin with ... and he doesn't care how many years you attended the church. If you left, you weren't real. But my motives are also selfish. I want the resources for my son. I am not foolish enough to hope B will ever leave or not try to force that heresy on our son, but I am diligently praying my son will never join. |

How old is your son? B's attitude is typical of SDA's. Thay can't fanthom that anyone would ever leave "the truth". Therefore when someone does leave the SDA they rationalize it that the person was never committed to "the truth" anyway. They use that text, "and the truth was not in him". I forget the book and chaper and verse but it's in there somewhere. |

So, was Johathan born in April 2003? If so, what date? What a wonderful age! He is just he same age as my grandtwins. I was wondering if they maybe have the same birthday. So courious to learn so much at that age. I got the grandtwins a Radio Flyer Red Wagon for their birthday and I take them on long wagon rides. All three of us love our wagon ride trips so much. I just beem with a shinny glow when I'm with them. I love them not for anything they've ever done or accomplished. I love them for just who they are. And, I can tell you have that same love for Jonathan. Enjoy every minute you have with him. It's all so special. |

March 21. I was in graduate school at night and working full time during the day when my other two were this age, so I don't remember a lot. I'm trying to enjoy more of his time. |

Melissa, If you do not mind a smidgen of advice from a seasoned mother I would like to say this: Start reading to you little one all kinds of Bible stories. There is a wonderful Children's Bible at the book store at the church I attend. I got one for my grandson, who is 1 year of age, for Christmas. You can influence him right now. He will learn. Read to him every day when you have time. That is one way you can influence him so that when his Dad tries to tell him something about the Bible, your son will know the truth. Kids learn so fast and easily. Pray a lot, which I am sure you do. God will help you. He is awesome and loves your baby. Diana |

Thanks, Diana. I do read to him. I have several reading levels of Children's Bibles. My church even gave him a cardboard one for his dedication, so he gets an early start. It's a little bit off the subject, but this past week, I was on vacation. B took a couple of days off the end of the week and we did a couple of things in the afternoons. On Saturday, B skipped church (shocked me) and we took our kayak's out to the lake. Last night my 11-year old asked if B had "sinned" according to his religion to go boating on Saturday. I had a hard time trying to come up with a good answer because I know in B's mind what he did was perfectly fine. But loading 3 kayak's and unloading 3 kayak's is work no matter how you look at it. So, I told him that it probably would be considered a sin by some in his religion, but B didn't seem to think it was a problem. I was shocked that the conversations my older son and I have been having about the differences in our religions were actually sticking and he was thinking about it. It sure made me wonder what he notices in my life that may seem inconsistent. |

Melissa, Kids notice everything about their parents and love them anyway. Unless, you are grossly inconsistent, they will not hold it against you. At least that is the experience I had with my son. When he was in college, about 21, he told me I was the best Christian he knew. I was not attending church regularly, went dancing on Friday and Saturday nights and dated different men. When I asked why he said that in spite of my non SDA ways. He said I was consistent. I cried over that one. Another time, when he was about 12, we were driving to the shopping center. I said something about being perfect and my son agreed that I was perfect. To me, when a 12 year old agrees with a parent that they are perfect, they are thinking something else. So I asked him his definition of perfection. His reply was, "some one who screws up and knows how to apologize". This is all just to show you that our kids see our faults and love us in spite of them. It sounds like you have a smart young man. It sounds like he loves you a lot. God is with you as you go about your daily work and activities. He is with your son and your baby and your daughter. He is increasingly awesome the more I learn about Him. Diana |
