There is a lot of good information here. I already have a notebook full of things I have printed off from the various sites I have found. I just found FAF about 6 weeks ago but have not gotten involved until now. I left the sda church about 4 years ago and did't get involved in anything until recently. It was after I found the information, by accident, in FAF. I did not think about the rituals being important but I think I really missed that. I am single so have not found support until now. Thanks, Sharon |

Hi Sharon! Welcome! I don't think you found FAF by accident! Great to have you, Sabra |

Yes Sharon, welcome. Please continue to post. Have you found a church yet? We encourage folks to do so. It makes a huge difference in our ability to move on and get deeper into the things of God. |

Welcome again, Sharon! We look forward to hearing from you. And I second Lydell's comments about finding a church. Another way you can find fellowship in the study of God's word (not to replace church, though!) is to find a local Bible Study Fellowship or Community Bible Study group. I know several former Adventists that began finding their way out by studying in these groups which are strictly non-denominational and Bible-centered. Again, welcome! Colleen |

Good point Colleen, and it's also an excellent place to find out about a good church. That's what happened to us, Sharon. We went to a Bible study praying silently, "Lord if this is not the place you want us, then you have to help us, we're too stupid to get the message any other way, so send someone to give us a direct invitation to the church where you want us." That evening at the Bible study 4 people invited us to their church (the same church) AND it was the only time the pastor of that church ever visited that coffee house. So we even met him briefly. When our hearts are honestly open to His leading to HIS ideas, He is most faithful to reply. |

Thanks everyone. To begin with I know it was not by accident that I found FAF. I have been going to a non denominational church here in Garden City, Kansas. I feel it scares people off when I tell them I used to be a SDA. So far no one wants to study with me individually. They invite me to the "canned" small groups. But I still like the people and someday. I continue to study on my own. Wow to Galations. I have the MESSAGE BIBLE it puts things into todays language and better. God Bless each and everyone of you here in FAF you are my support group in my quest for knowledge. |

Sharon and anyone else interested...if you have not yet listened to the following cassette tape series, you will really enjoy them and they will definitely help you in your Bible study: Dale Ratzlaff's "Whatever Happened to the Law," Richard Fredericks' "Sabbath in Christ," and Clay Peck's series on the Sabbath (can't remember the name.) I know you can get Dale's and Clay's on Dale's website, i think it's ratzlaf.com, i'm not sure about Richard Fredericks', mine were loaned to me by my brother-in-law, but i think Dale Ratzlaff or Richard and Colleen might know where to find it. these tapes have helped me so much! Dale's book "Sabbath in Crisis" is excellent, but i found with my lifestyle i had more time to listen to tapes in my car while on the road. God bless you Sharon! carol |

To all, I cannot seem to find where to begin a new message. I found it when I started the New Baby but now it is gone. Could you help Colleen or Richard? Thanks I am posting this here since it deals with abuse. I came across this on the Last Disciple web site and then emailed them to ask from where it came and then I forgot about it. This morning I was looking at a Bible in the bookstore where I work and thumbed thru it and noticed in a preview to Galations excerpts from this book again. I then went to web to find this book and I am giving you the site address if you would like to see some very interesting literature on Spiritual Abuse. These are just a few of the remarks in this book: Misplaced Loyalty ìThe next characteristic of spiritually abusive systems is that a misplaced sense of loyalty is fostered and even demanded. Weíre not talking about loyalty to Christ, but about loyalty to a given organization, church, or leader.î (p.76) ìA common way this is accomplished is by setting up a system where disloyalty to or disagreement with the leadership is construed as the same thing as disobeying God. Questioning leaders is equal to questioning God. After all, the leader is the authority, and authority is always right. This causes people to misplace their loyalty in a leader, a church or an organization.î (p.76) The address for much more information like this is:http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/3658/subtle.html Here is the site for Last Disciple:http://www.lastdisciple.com/ If you scroll down you will find tables with Indentifing Abuse Systems Part 1 Indentifing Abuse Systems Part 2 Indentifing Abuse Systems Part 3 Indentifing Abuse Systems Part 4 Indentifing Abuse Systems Part 5 I will not post it all so as not to take up space since it is already in another place. Go there and look if you are interested and talk about it with us if you want. I find it quite interesting that I was lead to it once and then inquired about it and then was lead to it in yet another way. I know my God works in marvelous and mysterious ways and I am here to proclaim it. Praise God the way he goes before me, Carol |
