Dear Colleen, We have been studying Habakkuk in our BS. It is packed with the Soverienty of God. How God used the Chaldeans for His glory and He is doing the same today, using evil for His good. Each time I study God's Word I am awed at His Love and How much in control He is. I trust Him more and more. I am less and less afraid. I am also doing your Hebrews study. It is so good and so packed. It shows me that God is Soverign. God is Creator and sustainer of my life. He has given us so much to believe in Him, by His witnesses. He is above the angels. Jesus is God. Jesus is above the angels. Jesus is our redeemer, by His blood. We must believe in Him and no other. The new covenant is better than the old: the one given by angels and prophets. He chooses and He ordains us to eternal life. He choose me. He has given us/me gifts to serve Him. I do not pick and choose these gifts, He decides. He made us to be rulers over the earth. He will restore it and His plan will finish. I have eternal life now. I can trust God. He will lead me and guide me. I just love Him. Through His Word, I have hope and joy, peace and strength. His Word is Jesus. Thank you for all the time you have spent. I love the simple Gospel message and I believe that we need to preach it, and share it and eat it and live it. It is a simple message but with so much to learn and know. So many aspects, as shown in your study. Hebrews establishs that God is Soverign. That Jesus is God. He is creator, sustainer, eternal life giver. He came to save us. He gives us gifts to use for the common good. He gave us proof of Him through His eyewitnessess, the Holy Spirit, signs and miracles and God the Father. We do not have to go back to the old covenant, given by angels and being bound in flesh. Everything we need is in Jesus Christ, the Messiah. We should not drift away from the Gospel, from what the witnesses have given us. It is so rich and freeing, He set us free. Jesus alone is my salvation. Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ. "Jesus has redeemed every part of us." Praise God, trust God, be free. Thank you Colleen. Joni |

Thinking about angels. Christ is better than angels. The angels worship Him. They are ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation. I know that Jesus is not an angel. God is I AM. The SELF EXISTING ONE. So Jesus is also because Jesus is God. Please help me with Exodus 3. vs.2 "The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush, and he looked and behold the bush was burning with fire yet the bush was not consumed. vs. 4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said Moses, Moses and he said here I am. I know that there is a explaination for this. I know in the OT there are many texts of this sort. Anyone? |

Hi Joni, There are many places in Scripture where the term ěangelî is used interchangeably with ěGodî or ěthe Lord.î Examples: Genesis 16:7-12 Genesis 19:1,21. Genesis 31:11,13 Exodus 3:2,4 Judges 2:1-2 Judges 6:11-12,14 Judges 13:3,6,8-11,15-17,20-23 Zechariah 3:1-6 Zechariah 12:8. The NIV text note to one of these texts (Genesis 16:7-12) says this: ěTraditional Christian interpretation has held that this ëangelí was a preincarnate [pre-Christmas] manifestation of Christ as Godís Messenger-Servant. It may be, however, that, as the Lordís personal messenger who represented him and bore his credentials, the angel could speak on behalf of (and so be identified with) the One who sent him (see especially 19:21; cf. 18:2,22; 19:2). Whether this ěangelî was the second person of the Trinity remains therefore uncertain.î Bottom line: Such language doesnít prove that Jesus Christ is an angel. Good exegesis precludes such a conclusion, as you have seen from your study of Hebrews: How can Christ be an angel if he is far superior to angels? |

Max, Thank you for your answer. I guess this is another one of those texts that could have many confused. I really need to take the time and look up the Hebrew and see what it says, and do a study on angels in the OT. Another project for the future. After doing the study in Hebrews about the angels it has really glued it in my mind that Christ is not an angel. I just love studying my Bible. I am no theologian for sure, but the Holy Spirit is the true teacher anyway. I have the NIV study Bible and use it also, but I mostly use the New American Standard. The one I have is made for your own studying so it does not have any study notes in in. Just big margins for writing. God bless you and have a nice day. Joni |
