Maryann, Cut it to where? Email to myself? I have no idea how to cut it and then just keep it somewhere unless I cut it and paste it to an email to myself. Will that work? Yikes, the lost Denise on the cutting and pasting stuff. God Bless, Denise |

I thought the key commands worked for you???? What happened? I think it was Lorin that posted the directions. I don't know if I wrote them down? I'm going to crash now. Nite-nite........Maryann PS....Paste or no paste, cut or no cut, that was the idea for getting the stories "out." ;););) |

Thank you Maryann, I will try to use the cut and paste directions but am still at a loss as to where I paste them to keep them on hold and also edit them before I post them to this forum. God Bless, Denise |

Denise, If you have a word processer on your hard disk, you can write out your memory in a document that it generates and put a date on it as part of the document's name. Here's an example of a date-name that will sort according to date and order of documents written during the day within a single folder. 00.12.28.1.memlostdog Translation: 00. = year 2000 12. = month December 28. = twenty-eighth day of month 1. = first document of day mem = memory or memo lostdog = lost dog, the subject of the memory Keep all the documents you create this way in one single folder. You could name the folder "Denise.personal" or "Denise.diary" or whatever your creative heart dreams up. Then you'll have an easy way to reference and retrieve them. You can also search for them with your computer's "find a document" function. To do this: 1. Be sure you're in your computer's "Finder" mode or maybe "Desktop." (I have a Mac and it's a bit different from a PC.) 2. Hold down COMMAND+F key = COMMAND + FIND 3. Type in "00.12.28.1" or "lostdog" 4. Your computer will find for you the stored document on its hard disk in the appropriate folder. 5. Your computer should automatically sort your documents in this folder by date and number of the document stored in the folder for that date. For example, if you post three memories in one day, two memories the next day, and one memory the third day they would sort like this: 00.12.28.1.memlostdog 00.12.28.2.memdadcalled 00.12.28.3.membeachtrip 00.12.29.1.memfounddog 00.12.29.2.membiblestudy Finally, when it comes time to post your memory, or whatever post you want to post, on FAFF, you can easily retrieve it. You can also create other folders for other types of work. For example, you could name a folder Denise.email = Denise's e-mail folder Then put in it all of your incoming / outgoing e-mail that you wish to keep. The naming of the e-mail documents can be similar to your "memory" system. For example: 00.12.29.1.efrmaryann 00.12.29.2.etomaryann 00.12.30.3.efrmaryann 00.12.30.1.etoellenwhite 00.12.31.2.efrellenwhite I have already explained how the date part of the name works. For the name part, here's the translation: efrmaryann = "e-mail from Maryann" etomaryann = "e-mail to Maryann" efrmaryann = "e-mail from Maryann" etoellenwhite = "e-mail to Ellen White" efrellenwhite = "e-mail from Ellen White" If you wanted, you could even keep these two kinds of documents -- e-mail and memories -- in the SAME folder and they will still keep an neatly sorted order. You could name this folder, for example, "Denise's work." Here's an example: 00.12.28.1.memlostdog 00.12.28.2.memdadcalled 00.12.28.3.membeachtrip 00.12.29.1.efrmaryann 00.12.29.2.etomaryann 00.12.29.3.memfounddog 00.12.29.4.membiblestudy 00.12.30.1.efrmaryann 00.12.30.2.etoellenwhite 00.12.31.3.efrellenwhite 01.01.01.1.memroseparade 01.01.02.2.membikeride 01.01.03.1.efrjameswhite 01.01.04.1.memweddingday 01.01.04.2.memhoneymoon 01.01.28.1.memhomeagain 01.02.01.1.memnewjob Remember that as the years and months and days-of-the-month change your numbering- naming system keeps up with them. Examples: 00.12.31. = December 31, 2000 01.01.01. = January 1, 2001 01.02.03. = February 3, 2001 01.07.04. = July 4, 2001 02.10.15. = October 15, 2002 03.04.15. = March 15, 2003 04.11.09. = November 9, 2003 You need to keep the zeros in front of the single digit dates and single digit months as place holders. If you don't your sorts won't work. You also need to keep your year numbers first or your sorts won't work either. Whatever you choose to do, have fun in the Lord and be blessed, Max of the Cross |

Hi Max!!!!;-)~~~~~ (that means my head is shaking VERY hard!), That is very interesting how you did that (carbon) dating process! My little "pointed" head just does NOT understand-comprehendah, so will try to get someone with a "round" head to 'splain the lostdog to this underdog! I really can use that in some of my "ruff riting" endeavors!!!! Infact!!! I'm rather excited about what you showed Denise! Thank you for opening my eyes to the possibility of a 'puter doing these kind of things!;-) The trick will be to find someone that is patient enough to teach me! Grrrrrrrrrr'-)) Offer's?'-) :):):).......Maryann PS....Interesting people that Denise is communicating with isn't it? ~;-)) (that's a raised brow) Shhhhh!!'-) |

Good Morning Max, Thank you so much and yes, I do have a word processor and in this thing are a host of different documents that I'm capable of doing. It was the knowing how to use it that baffled me. I'm going to try to use this document program I have and start keeping everything I write and others in it. For now, I have been printing out everything..and I mean EVERYTHING! That get's expensive, ya know that? Thank you for your time Max in explaining this stuff to me. This is the sort of stuff that completely confuses me and here I've had this computer for some time, along with a book but I don't have the mind anymore to comprehend alot of this. Tis due to the brain damage incurred some years ago. True story. As to you Maryann, I'm about to now write a document, letter style, to Mrs. Ellen G. White and see what good advice from the heavens, she could give to me out of love..<snicker>. God Bless you both, Denise, the berean, wanna be letter writer |

"from the heavens"? EGW believed in "soul sleep." I used to live just a few blocks away from her grave in Battle Creek, Michigan. "from the grave"! Shivering, Max |

Hello Max, "From the Heavens" meaning, let's see what the White estate claims are messages from the Heavens or rather, God. So far it seems that they claim that all of her writings are from God..this is really a sad thing to have people believing. Why just this morning, I got a devotional from the White Estate titled "fitted for translation." If only the Gospel would be more clear to the believer of that denomination. I see too many, in fear, that they are not yet ready for Heaven. I should have been more clear but am a scattered person this morning or afternoon. Does this help? God Bless you for questioning me, Denise |

Hi Y'all, I did a memory yesterday at the Library and could not post it;-(((((( So will try a shorter version;-)) My friend is here from No. Ca. and will come to the FAF meeting tonight. If he can stay awake, he will try a bit of Coco's afterwards;-)) He is of the rather strict, traditional SDA mindset. I met him on my 13th birthday at a campmeeting and we have been best friends now for over 30 years!:-))))) An interesting and great "praise" that he has is that he is thankful that Christ gave His life so that each of us may "choose" to believe what ever we want to! He loves to study and discuss the Bible. I would like to share my friend with as many of you as I can;-)) One summer when I was about 16 or 17, my mom took me up to Bucks Lake to where my friend and his crew were planting trees for the forest service. You need to understand that my friend is 8 years older than me and I was the oldest of the 4 or 5 of the rest of us that were younger. We all worshipped the ground that my friend walked on and aped his every move!! Our various parents had cows and kittens over some of the things we copied!;-) For me, only eating with a spoon, caused my mom a lot of grief! He he he he;-))! Another thing I did was haul a piece of plywood into my bedroom and put it on my bed and slept on it for months!!!!!;-)))))) He slept in a tent in the woods most of his life and slept on either the ground or plywood!! He he he he, my poor mom!! I also thought it was appropriate to wear a hardhat all the time too! I figured that if I was to wear a dress with jeans underneath it, I might as well finish looking weird with the hardhat! And I did! He he he he!!;-))))) Anyway, back to Bucks Lake. On Sabbath, everyone decided to go for a hike. My friend and I decided to stay back and play our accordian's and sing. This was one of my favorite pasttimes and his too. We sang and played for hours;-)) We must have played hundreds of our favorites songs. When the crew (and my mom) got back, they said that they could hear us singing the whole time. At that elevation and with the mountains placed like they were in was almost like an ampatheater. Unfortunately, the whole thing was dampened by some of the leaders of the movement we were involved in!;-(( They said that it was inappropriate that we were left alone in camp! He took flack over that for some time;-(( Well, I'm outa time;-(( :):):).....Maryann |

Ya know, I did a memory today too. Course now I've forgotten what it was, but it was a good one. Max, is this what you refer to as a 'senior moment?' God Bless all and you are in my memory, Denise |

Well Guyz, this is my anniversary;-)) One year since I posted the first time. Here's the header of my first post: <<By Maryann on Wednesday, February 2, 2000 - 12:07 am: Hi Y'all'>> Funny thing, this is also my Mom's 79th birthday. Incidently, last night she stepped in a puddle of oil in a parking lot and fell. She didn't hurt herself at all! Other than being a bit sore, she says she's fine. She is confident that an angel had his hand on her as you don't usually take a tumble at her age and be okay! I want to thank all of you that were there the FIRST day that I posted. Y'all have encouraged me in so many ways, Susan, Patti, Max, Lynn, Cas, Allenette and Colleen. Gosh, we haven't heard from Susan in a long time and you new guyz probably don't know who Lynn was. Lynn was a serious contributer for a long time. She had posted on some 160 pages and that is easily an average of 3 per page making her contributions close to 500!!!! She is very well grounded in grace and the gospel it can not be separated from. Yesterday was a sobering day as I spent the day with a former SDA that I grew up with. He has a lot of bitterness and is eaten up inside with it. The hypocracy that I hear so many other's talk about, also came rolling from his lips like a swelling river. It was sticky with emotion. I was blown away with seeing the wife of a childhood friend dealing with severe depression etc etc etc from the abuse she received as his hands. He is now in jail on many charges. It just blew me away as the last real contact with him was when I was 18 and he was 11. He rode behind me on a horse while we brought in some cows and helped with the ranch work. Now at 36, he's doing time! I went outside my friend's apartment and just could not hold back the tears. He came out and said that he had never seen me cry in 30 years and was like, whoa!!! I just remember the other guy as this little kid about the same age as my own son. The other thing that really grabbed me was the tactics used by some in that group to get people's minds along the prescribed channels. Mind you, this had been happening for years before my friend figured out what was happening. His step father would go into the bedrooms of all the kids that he could and talk to them softly in their sleep and tell them what they should believe! Can you imagine that!!?? Even kids that belonged to other people! My friend said that he had these weird dreams for years that involved the step father and come to find out, they were triggered by the soft talkings he was giving them!!! Grrrrrrrrrr;-((( It was so sad, he said, "Hey, I'd love to play games, sports etc with my son but I don't know how. Ya know how we weren't allowed to compete and all that stuff. I'm still trying to find my own lost childhood." He, like me, was not allowed to go to school. He commented that his parents view of the world was that it was this giant monster that all the kids had to be totally protected from. Then when the kids were 18, they were tossed to this monster with no knowledge of how to deal with it and were devoured. Sorta like putting a de-clawed cat out with some dogs. I learned some things about my past last month relating to our religious SDA roots. Yesterday, I learned some things about some of the adults that I knew as a kid that I didn't know and can hardly believe. One of the horrible ones was a father that prayed infront of a group of young adults about his son that had some depression problems (mostly induced by him heaping the son with mountains of guilt and reminding him constantly to repent of actions years earlier!) The prayer went something like this, "Please God, release my son from this infirmity even if it is death!" The son (ONE OF MY BEST FREINDS!), was dead 2 months later from an awful car accident, his face smashed half way through his head. Well, I am grateful to have missed out on this kind of mind control! I am grateful that I am going to be able to see my friend and share with him. Yesterday was spent just asking questions and establishing a line of communication. He is sooooo away from God and yet so close to EGW! I guess that amazed me more than anything. He'd mention something and I'd say, that is EGW, did you know that wasn't in the Bible? He was more endoctrinated with EGW than I was! I was totally amazed at his ability to quote her even though he has been away from "religion" for over 20 years. Well, I really think I need to get some "shut eye." Denise, are you going to want as ride? IBC |
