What does this text mean. Rom 8:9 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Acts 7: 48-57 48 "However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: 49 `Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, Or what is the place of My rest? 50 Has My hand not made all these things?' 51 ¸ "You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. What is the place of my REST (Where have you heard REST before). Where does God DWELL. Are You His? Eph 2:21-22 21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. We are the Dwelling place of God a Holy Temple. Are you His? Heb 3:6-7 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. 7 ¸ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Who's HOUSE are we? Today, the Holy Spirit? Are you His? Heb 4:1-5 1 ¸ Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, `They shall not enter My rest,'" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works"; 5 and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest." So we must ENTER his REST. Are you His? Matt 12: 43-45 43 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 "Then he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation." So an unclean spirit seeks REST. The unclean returns to a empty HOUSE. The spirits ENTERS and DWELL'S in the EMPTY HOUSE. WHEN ADAM SINED AND ATE THE FRUIT OF THE TREE ON THAT DAY HIS SABBATH REST ENDED AND HE BECAME AN EMPTY HOUSE AND HE DIED ON THAT DAY JUST AS GOD SAID HE WOULD. IT WAS AT PENTACOST THAT THE SABBATH REST STARTED AGAIN. WHEN THE TEMPLE VEIL WAS RENT, GOD NO LONGER DWELLT IN THE TEMPLE, BUT DO TO CHRISTS DEATH JESUS CAN DWELL IN US. SO ARE YOU AN EMPTY HOUSE AND A WALKING DEAD OR ARE YOU THE TEMPLE OF GOD. THE ONE WHERE HE SAYS HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. BH . |

Are you His or not? John 17:8,9 8 "For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. 9 "I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. John 17:14-15 14 "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. John 17:20-23 20 ¸ "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. So Jesus prayes for them and not for the world. Who is the world. It is those who do not have the Spirit, who are not Born Again. Who do not believe that Jesus died for their sins. John 10:25-30 25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. 26 "But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30 "I and My Father are one." Are you one of His sheep or not. When I was a Adventist I used to think everybody was His and we were all doing our best. When the time came God would pick the cream off the top and if I was good enough I would be picked. Now I SEE that those who are His are anly those who accept the New Covenant, are Born Again, had their heart circumcised, have the indwelling Spirit. The Enemy of the Church is the enemy of the New Coveneant and the Gospel. With the teaching of Adventism leading to over fifty percent of Adventist doubting if they are saved or not when the Bible states that it is a free gift, Then the Adventist Chrurch is against the Gospel and with in the world. Bruce, thanks for your great words of encouragement! It's so tragic that adventists can't have that assurance of salvation. This assurance is the most special truth I cling to as a Christian. I know that I am His. This is as certain as the air I breath. As his sheep, I follow his voice. I know where I'll spend eternity. It's to bad that my sda loved ones can't claim this same biblical promise of truth. |

Susan, Yes! I praise God for your good news that you'll know where you'll spend eternity. But there is more! According to Scripture you've already begun to spend eternity right here and now! Remember when as a little SDA children we learned the memory verse: 1 Corinthians 2:9. As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. We believed that that text refers ONLY to our future experience in heaven after Jesus comes in the clouds, didn't we? Somehow the following text was never given to us as memory verse, was it? But now that we're not blinded by the SDA mystification, we can read the EYE-POPPING good news in the next verse: Verse 10. But God HATH REVEALED them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. So, if we're going to take this passage seriously we have to believe that it is only the unspiritual eye that "hath not seen," the unspiritual ear that "hath not heard," and the unspiritual heart that "the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" "hath not entered into." For, "God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit." Reading on .... Verse 11. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him, even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. In other words, it is only the person who has just his own spirit, "the spirit of man," who is bereft of God's Spirit, who doesn't know "the things of God" that God's Spirit has revealed. Verse 12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13. Which things we also speak, not in the words which manķs wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. So you know where you'll spend eternity because you're already beginning to spend it right here and how. And you have confirmed this with you testimony. I think there is a reason why our SDA parents and teachers did not have us memorize verse 10 and beyond: Because the SDA ideal is not to have "the things of God" revealed to us now, but only later. Because they cannot say, "I am saved." So, if you can't say, "I am saved," then you can't say you are seeing and hearing and receiving in your heart "the things that God hath prepared for them that love him" either. And because they say, as EGW said, "On the subject of the Holy Spirit, silence is golden." But we CAN "shout from the rooftops" these things that the SDA eye hasn't seen, the SDA ear hasn't heard, and the SDA heart hasn't experienced. But our eyes have seen! Our ears have heard! And our hearts have received these things that God hath prepared for them that love him. Because we love him. --Jude |

Susan, it is tragic that many adventist don't have assurance of salvation. Many is not the same as all. The same logic would apply, if we would say that all the Lutherans do have assurance of salvation. "All" is an old adventist term dated back to "shut door" era (1844-1851). "All" can only be used in the connection of the Body of Christ. I am sure you don't mean all adventist, and you don't even right all. But to say that adventsist.., sounds like there are no people in SDA Church, who have assurance of salvation. I seem to agree with most of the statements you and others write, but not shut door statements. In the long run shut door didn't work for me. timo, right now sure of salvation, because of the Blood of the Lamb. |
