WHAT IS THE GOSPEL ELLEN WHITE VS THE BIBLE WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? THE GOSPEL (THE NEW UNGER1S BIBLE) - THE GOOD NEWS OF THE DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST AS PROVIDED BY OUR LORD AND PREACHED BY HIS DISCIPLES ( 1 COR. 15 1-4 ). THE GOSPEL THEN IS FULL AND FREE DELIVERANCE FROM SIN ON THE BASIS OF SIMPLE FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, THE VICARIOUS SIN-BEARER (EPH. 2:8-11). EGW- Counsels on Diet and Foods PG.75 The gospel of health is to be firmly linked with the ministry of the word. It is the Lord's design that the restoring influence of health reform shall be a part of the last great effort to proclaim the gospel message. EGW-Testimonies for the Church Volume Seven PG.136 Those who teach the principles of health reform should be intelligent in regard to disease and its causes, understanding that every action of the human agent should be in perfect harmony with the laws of life. The light God has given on health reform is for our salvation and the salvation of the world. BIBLE- GAL. 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. BIBLE- ROM. 1:1-5 1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures, 3 the gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh 4 and designated Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, 1. PROMISED BY PROPHETS (LINE OF DAVID) 2. RESURRECTED FROM DEAD (FOR SINS) 3. WE RECEIVE GRACE BY FAITH (SAVED) BIBLE- 1 COR. 15:1-4 1 Now I would remind you, brethren, in what terms I preached to you the gospel, which you received, in which you stand, 2 by which you are saved, if you hold it fast--unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 1. CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS 2. YOU ARE SAVED BY BELIEVING IN HIM BIBLE-Ro 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to every one who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "He who through faith is righteous shall live." 1. GOSPEL IS SALVATION FOR THOSE OF FAITH 2. BY FAITH YOU HAVE RIGHTEOUSNESS BIBLE- GAL 3:5-14 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith? 6 Thus Abraham "believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." 7 So you see that it is men of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." 9 So then, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith. 10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, and do them." 11 Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law; for "He who through faith is righteous shall live"; 12 but the law does not rest on faith, for "He who does them shall live by them." 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree"-- 14 that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 1. JUSTIFIED BY FAITH 2. WORKS OF THE LAW UNDER A CURSE 3. NO MAN JUSTIFIED BY LAW 4. LAW DOES NOT REST ON FAITH 5. WE RECIEVE THE SPIRIT BY FAITH BIBLE-COL 1:21-24 And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, 23 provided that you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 1. HE PRESENTS US HOLY AND BLAMELESS 2. WE BECOME THE BODY OF CHRIST BY FAITH (CHURCH) EGW- Many who claim to believe and teach the Gospel are in a similar error. They set aside the Old Testament Scriptures, of which Christ declared, "They are they which testify of Me." In rejecting the Old, they virtually reject the New; for both are parts of an inseparable whole. No man can rightly present the law of God without the Gospel, or the Gospel without the law. The law is the Gospel embodied, and the Gospel is the law unfolded. The law is the root, the Gospel is the fragrant blossom, and the fruit which it bears. The Old Testament sheds light upon the New, and the New upon the Old. Each is a revelation of the glory of God in Christ. Both present truths that will continually reveal new depths of meaning to the earnest seeker. 1. THE LAW AND GOSPEL EMBODIED 2. THE GOSPEL IS LAW UNFOLDED 3. QUESTION WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? EGW- The gospel of the New Testament is not the Old Testament standard lowered to meet the sinner and save him in his sins. God requires of all His subjects obedience, entire obedience to all His commandments. 1. THE GOSPEL IS ENTIRE OBEDIENCE TO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS EGW-The glory of the gospel reflects light upon the Jewish age, giving significance to the whole Jewish economy of types and shadows. Thus both the law and the gospel are blended. 1. GOSPEL REFLECTS JEWISH AGE 2. LAW AND GOSPEL BLENDED EGW- for His law is a transcript of His character. Christ was both the law and the gospel. The angel that proclaims the everlasting gospel proclaims the law of God; for the gospel of salvation brings man to obedience of the law, 1. GOSPEL PROCLAIMS THE LAW OF GOD 2. GOSPEL BRINGS OBEDIENCE OF THE LAW EGW- The Gospel has not ignored the obligations due to God by man. The Gospel is the Law unfolded, nothing more nor less. It gives no more latitude to sin than does the Law. The Law points to Christ; Christ points to the Law. The Gospel calls men to repentance. Repentance of what?--Of sin. And what is sin?--It is the transgression of the Law. 1. GOSPEL IS LAW UNFOLDED 2. LAW POINTS TO CHRIST, CHRIST TO LAW 3. GOSPEL CALLS TO REPENTANCE Therefore the Gospel calls men from their transgression back to obedience to the Law of God. 1. GOSPEL IS LAW UNFOLDED 2. LAW POINTS TO CHRIST, CHRIST POINTS TO LAW 3. GOSPEL CALLS OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW SUMMARY - ELLEN WHITE GOSPEL 1. THE LAW AND GOSPEL EMBODIED 2. THE GOSPEL IS LAW UNFOLDED 1. THE GOSPEL IS ENTIRE OBEDIENCE TO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS 1. GOSPEL REFLECTS JEWISH AGE 2. LAW AND GOSPEL BLENDED 1. GOSPEL PROCLAIMS THE LAW OF GOD 2. GOSPEL BRINGS OBEDIENCE OF THE LAW 1. GOSPEL IS LAW UNFOLDED 2. LAW POINTS TO CHRIST, CHRIST TO LAW 3. GOSPEL CALLS TO REPENTANCE SUMMARY - BIBLE GOSPEL 1. PROMISED BY PROPHETS (LINE OF DAVID FOR SALVATION) 2. RESURRECTED FROM DEAD (FOR SINS) 3. WE RECEIVE GRACE BY FAITH (SAVED) 1. CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS 2. YOU ARE SAVED BY BELIEVING IN HIM 1. GOSPEL IS SALVATION FOR THOSE OF FAITH 2. BY FAITH YOU HAVE RIGHTEOUSNESS 1. JUSTIFIED BY FAITH 2. WORKS OF THE LAW UNDER A CURSE 3. NO MAN JUSTIFIED BY LAW 4. LAW DOES NOT REST ON FAITH 5. WE RECIEVE THE SPIRIT BY FAITH |

I like to ask Bruce how much does right teaching add to our salvation? It's a BIG difference to say that only Jeesus saves, and to say that right understanding of Jesus saves. There are many saved legalistic people who believe in Jesus and are saved. (all of us are legalistic in some degree). .."and him that cometh to me I will no wise cast out" John.6:37. PS:I am not defending legalism here, it is bad, but no matter how you understand the Bible in everything else, you are saved if you accept Jesus. Even a person who is only 1% right and 99% wrong with Bible teaching is saved if he or she has Jesus. We are not saved by Jesus+right understanding. On the other hand we can be 99% right in understanding of the Gospel and all that the Bible teaches, but lost without Jesus. That's why nobody can rely on right understanding of Jesus, but only in the Blood of Jesus. |

Timo K Timo I believe that only Jesus saves. Once Called by Jesus He seals us with his Holy Spirit, and it is the Holy spirit alone that can guide us into all truth (John 16:13). So it is a fruit of the Spirit to see truth and be guided to it. I believe that God can call those who are in false teachings and can show them truth. I also believe that there are those who know the truth and yet do not accept the Gospel. B |

Timo K Timo ___There are many saved legalistic people who believe in Jesus and are saved.--------- Romans 4:4-5 4. Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5. But to him who does not work but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace in no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work. Numbers 15:32,36 32. Now while the children of Israel were in the wilderness they found a man gathering sticks (working) on the Sabbath day. 36. "So as the Lord commanded Moses, all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp." The question really should be, can those that believe it is by works (Leagalist) enter into God's Sabbath Rest. Well the Bible say's to him who works it is not counted as grace but debt, and grace is no longer grace? Exodus 20:8 remember the Sabbath day....In it you shall do no work... So if you worked (or think it is by works) you will be sentenced to death. So to your question ___There are many saved legalistic people who believe in Jesus and are saved.--------- well what are we beliving in Jesus for? If you believe that it is by your works (Leagelism) then you no longer believe in the work of Jesus, and thus do not believe in Jesus. BH |

AMEN BRUCE! Your words are such a blessing. Thank you for your clear and uncompromised message of the true gospel. The cross is the only saving way. All of our righteous acts are like filthy rags. In our sinfulness we can't even turn to such a holy God, without the Holy Spirit's prompting. This is such a burden off my life. This freedom in Christ is like no other. I just praise God everyday for the ASSURANCE of salvation I have in Him. |
