I just have to share this new insight God gave me. I have been in a 12 step program for almost 23 years and have never had more than 3 months free of compulsive eating, until last June. That was when I was told I was pre diabetic and God has helped me lose weight and get my blood glucose down. Today while I was preparing for the Friday evening meeting of Celebrate Recovery, of which I am the co leader, I was talking to God and asking Him to show me what is it within me that kept me from having more recovery. What I was shown was that the concept of God I learned about in the SDA church told me that if I was not keeping the sabbath, how could I expect Him to help me with my eating. I was disobeying Him. I did not trust him to help me or show me because of my religious beliefs. Now I know different. I am learning to trust Him with all things in my life, because Jesus died for me and the Holy Spirit will do for me what I cannot do for myself. What an insight. Thank you God. You are truly AWESOME. "Christ in us, the Hope of Glory." That is the only Hope we have of Glory and He will complete the good work started in us, maybe not as quickly as we like, but He promised to do it! I love Celebrate Recovery, hope yours is as great as mine. ;) |

Sabra, We are going into our second week of step meetings. God is so good because I have the energy to go the meetings and go to work the next day. Before the Celebrate Recovery started I told the pastor in charge my problem of having had CFS and getting tired easily. So far it has been good. So like I said, God is good and so awesome. Diana |

Diana, what a profound insight! Thank you for sharing it. I know I have struggled with various things over the years because I believed at one level that they were "sin" (i.e. coffee), yet on another level, they didn't seem to be true sin. At the same time, I knew my struggle and rationalizing were not stemming from faith. There is great relief when I've been able, in various small ways, to give up my struggle with the perceived "sin" and instead tell God I was giving the issue to Him, asking Him to deal with me in my life. Instead of fighting in my head with my temptation, when I'm able to say to Jesus, "I'm asking to know your will and to release my fear and temptation to You. I want to honor You and be faithful at this moment." When I'm able to take my mental rationalizing to Jesus and submit to Him instead of dealing in my head with the temptation directly, I find many issues resolving at that point--at least for that time! I may still have to struggle with the same issue again, but more and more Jesus makes the issue HIMSELF instead of the perceived temptation. He really is amazing. Colleen |

Diana, I am on the 3rd book. This is the first group that our church has done and I just know it's going to keep growing. It's so cool to be a part of a church that is a real family that doesn't condemn and accepts everyone right where they are. We have some people with drug addictions, alcoholism, abuse issues etc and everyone is so open and honest. I always look forward to Mondays and I'm believing to be teaching the program next year. ;) |

Sabra, We meet every Tuesday evening for the step study and Friday evening for the large worship, then break up for the various groups. I really like it. I will be teaching also, some time in the future. Thank you God. Diana |

Diana, That is cool you have 2 nights. Satan fights me on the tired issue, every Monday and every Wednesday (choir practice)and I just make my mind up I'm going, and Colleen--they have coffee so it all works out! ha! If coffee were a sin I'd be in some deep trouble. Funny, how you just don't know what people are going through. I remember in the SDA church feeling like everyone was so much holier than I since it was all such a facade. Realizing everyone struggles with something sure takes a load of guilt and condemnation off. You're right, of course, God is awesome. Sabra |

Sabra, about being a part of a church that does not condemn and accepts you right where you are. That is my church also. The pastor says in his sermon, every so often, it is okay not to be okay. Here I really feel like it is a hospital for sinners. I will pray for your tiredness and please pray for mine. And I do not want to forget that God is so awesome. Diana |

Friends, In February I asked you to pray about my husband finding a job as a surgical tech. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but God has been in control. My husband had emergency gall bladder surgery on March 27. He was off from work for 2 weeks, and during that time he was called to come in and interview for a tech job. They called him on his cell phone which he never would have answered if he had been at work. The day of his interview was also the day of his follow up surgery appointment, and they were at the same hospital. He starts his new job on May 21. I thank each and every one of you for your prayers in this matter! God is good! |

Hi, I'm back. And praising God from me as well. My treatments have started and the first one went well. The first new treatment is always a little more stressful because I am allergic (anaphylaxis) to chemicals. So they give me a lot of very heavy drugs along with my pre-mids. And those drugs continue for four days after. I have been sleeping a lot. Once I had a really bad reaction (during chemo) and had to be hospitalized. Now they try to not let that happen. Now that the first is over without problems, the rest will be difficult but I am more at ease. The 23rd psalm just about got wore out the past week. So, you see why I praise Him. He protects, and gives His strength, just like he promised. (Isaiah 41:10) He is Faithful!! Good to be reading on here again. Blessings to all toria |

I am grateful for your prayers and knowing that you guys are praying gives a lot of moral support. My treatments are done once a week for two weeks on thursdays. I get a very heavy treatment (two different chemos) the first week, then a milder (one chemo) treatment the second week. Then I get two weeks off, then two weeks treatments, etc. The next one is on May 31st. But I have to go back for tests and such on the 30th. I should receive 8 treatments in total, unless something happens and they have to stop. I was a little stressed for the first one, because of what could happen, but I am feeling very positive that the treatments will do some good. Blessings Toria |

Praising God for bringing me through another round of chemo treatments. I had my last treatment on October 12th. My doctor says things are looking good, but we have to wait until I have a C-T scan and other tests early November, to see what the situation is. I feel worn out, but otherwise ok. I expect my strength to return now that I am finished treatments. Thank you all for your prayers on my behalf. Blessings Toria (Message edited by toria on October 16, 2007) |
