So cool, Jeannette! I have really good memories of my academy chemistry teacher. That class began to open my eyes to physical reality that was bigger than I could see. Thanks to Don McConnell at Portland Adventist Academy--while there was much about that academy experience that I see was troublesome, still God arranged for me to learn things. I know your students will welcome you back! Colleen |

God is so kind! My mom is actually doing rather well. Frustrated, but we see some successes every couple of days. Was able to take her to a church party Friday evening where she got to be hugged on by her friends. Still, I find myself waking numerous times during the night remembering things I need to take care of, ask about, what to do "if", etc. Was feeling exhausted from this last night and prayed, giving it to God, asking him to just take care of the whole thing. Asking for rest, and "for some kind of encouragement tomorrow" because I was also feeling quite homesick, missing our Vineyard church service back home. Then woke up this morning totally bummed to discover that we were weathered in by an ice storm. crumbs! So I turned on the radio hoping to catch something encouraging on the local Christian station. The DJ had felt impressed to play 2 full hours of nothing but Vineyard music. That helped enormously!! Then a friend called me on her cell phone from my home church and then proceeded to pass her phone around so I ended up talking to like 20 friends! So, I praise God for successes, his kindness, his generosity, encouragement, and the tremendous blessing of friends. |

Praise be to God almighty. First and most importantly, my father is still alive, three days after major heart surgery. He will be 88 on February 9, God willing. Also, my custody hearing this morning. First my car wouldn't start, and just when I was about to go into panic overdrive, a pickup comes down the road. This is a little street with about eight houses, what are the odds? The driver agrees to take me to the court house. We chat en route and it turns out to be my ex's tenant, renting the little house she stole (long story). I don't mention that I'm about to encounter his landlady in court. Then (praise God, praise God) the GAL (attorney appointed to look out for my son's best interest) tells the judge that he thinks my custodial time should be expanded from four days per month, to ten days per month. I will be SO grateful if that happens. Then (mysterious ways), my attorney gets a phone call, and his brother-in-law has died. So we are continued, again. This is good in that I can prepare better for the hearing, getting some witnesses in line from church. My son's mom is trying to eliminate my son attending Sunday School on her weekends. Then, I happen to be walking past the parking lot exit as the GAL pulls out, and I talk him into giving me a ride to my car, which permits my learning from him how the conversation in chambers went. God's hand? I like to think so. I like to think God is helping me when the good things happen. Thank-you, Lord Jesus, for helping the GAL understand that my son needs more time with his father. Thanks, everyone, for any and all prayers on behalf of my father and my son (and me, what the heck). - Hoytster |

Hoyster, that's wonderful! I finally convinced my ex-husband to get more involved with my older son's school things and it is remarkable the change a little attention to something important to him has helped my son's attitude. I'm sure your son will enjoy any increased time with his dad he can get! (My son is 10...isn't that close to your son's age??) |

Hoyster praise God. You will be in my prayers. It is a hard thing my husband was down this road when his son was younger. It was a das thing that he was not allowed to go to church with his dad and did not go at all and they said the judge that is it was more important for his son to play sports which his mom used to sever their ties to each ohter then to spend time with his dad. I was a christian at the time and could not uncderstand I thought that things should work out for us. I kept the faith they wound up not seeing each other for years. It is very sad to me when a parent use a child like this. I pray all will work out for you and your child. God Bless |

I have a prayer praise. Yes, in my agony with my marriage I still have a joy beyond all joy. All of you out there in cyberland brace yourself for a praise that you may not have heard before. Thank-you, Jesus for Arnold Schwartznegger being the govenor of this wonderful and great state, California. A long time ago my son was released from the state prison. Not wanting to deal with parole he flew off to a faraway place to start a new life for himself. Until recently he had been doing very well. Then just recently he fell on hard times and found himself broke and homeless. He went to the police department where he was to turn himself in thinking he would be extradited back to California and probably have to serve some time in prison but figured prison was preferable to broke and homeless as at least in prison he gets a warm bed to sleep in, food and the basic necessities. The parole department was notified that he was turning himseld in and then he heard that he has been exonerated. He is a free man! He can start over. It's just too wonderful for me to even be able to put in words because I love my son so much. Apparently our esteemed govenor in his quest to strighten out the finincial mess he inherted from the previous govenor has decided it is in the best interest to California finincially not to bother extraditing and incarcerating the runaway parolees. Yes, I am a happy mama right now. I think I have a kinship to the father in the story told by Jesus of The Wayword Son. BTW, yes, I did vote for Arnold and I'm so glad I did and that he was elected govenor. I just KNOW my son will do good now. I just KNOW it. |

I have a prayer praise! My daughter, who was eight months pregnant, was admitted to the hopsital on Monday evening, after her "water broke" two months early. The doctor placed her on bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. On Wednesday, they decided that she was developing an infection, so they decided they would induce labor. On Thursday, February 26, 2004 @ 4:58 p.m. she gave birth to a beautiful 3 lb 6 oz (15") baby boy. His name is Devonne Alexander. Momma and baby are doing great. Devonne is breathing totally on his own, and by all indications seems to be none the worse for the wear. The miracle of birth is an awesome demonstration of God's creative and redemtive works. He is an awesome God indeed! In His Grace Grandpa Doug |

On Monday, March 15, I went in to see my MD. I had felt some lumps on my left side and around my left back that had become painful in the two weeks prior. After evaluating me for a few minutes, he said, "It's a tumor, possibly a lipoma [good news]. It's gotta come out." He didn't want to test it since it was in an area where it could be easily removed. Remove it and test it later was his advice. At the Friday, March 15th & 26th FAF Bible studies, everyone prayed for me. When I got home around midnight on the 26th, there was a letter in the mail from the hospital, confirming the date and time of my surgery. Everyone at FAF was praying. Friday, April 2nd, I mentioned at the FAF meeting that the pain was almost completely gone. I couldn't feel the lumps. When I looked in the mirror, they had been visibly obvious. Now, I felt I had to imagine swelling to see any. One of the members of the FAF Bible study is a PA. He removes lipomas (fatty tumors) all the time. On Friday, April 2nd, I told him that I'm not even sure if there is anything there anymore. He evaluated me on the spot and said, "There's nothing there. You don't need surgery!" This morning upon arrival at the hospital, the surgeon did an evaluation prior to the scheduled surgery. She said, "There's nothing there. You don't need surgery." I praise God that he has removed the tumor (or lipoma) without a knife! I can't wait to go back and see the MD that diagnosed it in the first place. It was a good size tumor. God removed it over the period of one to two weeks. God, Thank You for the diagnosis so that your healing could be demonstrated in my body. I thank all of you who have prayed for me in the last few weeks. Steve |

I think this would be the appropriate place to post this, hope I'm right!! Had a scary experience this morning. I went out to the van to drive to work. Started it, but it in gear . . . and rolled. There were NO brakes!!! I ended up rolling backwards into one of our neighbor's parked vehicles and denting their bumper as well as pushing their vehicle about six inches to the side. I knocked on the neighbor's door and told the wife what happened. She was really nice about it and was glad no one was hurt, but then the husband came out. He was really really angry, called the police and let me have it. The policeman was very kind about it though. He tried to calm the neighbor, and assured us that it was called an accident because that's just what it was. That it really was an insurance matter not a police matter. I'm so thankful it didn't happen on the freeway, or people (including me) might have been hurt or killed. I'm thankful that my boss was understanding and let me come in late. I'm thankful that my husband got our other vehicle running just day before yesterday so he could take me in. God is so good!! Mary |
