A number of really great points. However, it could also feed the anti-church sentiment that is common in all of us who have been so burned by a church. Some churches are all about religion, but others are all about Christ. So the point that Christ > religion is dead on target. But don't get sucked into the idea that church = religion. The fact that some churches emphasize religion has led too many to be angry with the concept of church and results in these people missing the spiritual benefits of gathering together for worship and receiving solid instruction in the Word. |

I agree with Rick. It's a definition problem. If he means religion = church congregations meeting together, then I don't necessarily agree with the video. But for sure, biblical Christianity is not man-made religion that tells you what to do. Jesus IS greater than religion. I think a more accurate way to measure whether one is doing religion or living Christianity is to ask where the gospel is. The gospel is Jesus dying for our sin according to Scripture, being buried, and rising on the third day according to Scripture (1 Cor. 15:3). Feeding the poor and living love is the fruit of the gospel. It is not the gospel. When people are born again and made alive in Christ Jesus, the fruit of that new birth will include caring for the poor and for the brothers/sisters. It will include all sorts of ministry. But being born again also means we are placed into the body of Christ. This reality is not merely a metaphor. We cannot be lone-rangers. We need the body, and we need encouragement from one another. It really depends on the church you are describing whether it fits into the category of "religion" or "Christian" no matter the denomination. So many, many pastors think the people want silly anecdotes, self-help advice, and entertainment. It's really sad! And if you found a church where the pastor rightly divides the Word of God you've found a Christian home! |

Having viewed this video a second time I had this thought... Frequently in making an important point I reduce the sidebar issues to flat - unidimensional points (and without care can become caricatures). I think the video does a good job of highlighting the distortions that superficial - formalized "faith" can produce but neglects the reality that committed faith communities can and do reflect the body of Christ. It also misses or obscures the fact that there are great numbers of healthy religious groups a serve God's kingdom purposes. Formers and others are understandably (and justifiably) committed to raising the alarm where they see danger. I think this video is a good example of how some subjects demand fuller and more complete development than a short "sound bite", but those of us here know that "sound bites" do generate some very productive discussion. May the Spirit lead.... Paul Cross |

I don't even know that I would say that there is something wrong in the video, more in how some people may apply the message. I enjoyed both the message and the delivery. |

An atheist and a Muslim both seem to have a personal mission to respond to his videos. The atheist denies God, and the Muslim denies Jesus. Satan has a counterfeit for everyone! |

I haven't watched much of the muslim response, because I just can't bear to watch someone deny Jesus. But there is a wonderful response to the muslim response here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X9c_LNwqtU&feature=fvwrel |
