I have here a little pamphlet from a college that offers a FREE Gift in exchange for a donation of any size! Is that really a free gift? For any Adventists reading this, I'd like to ask you how you think salvation is a free gift, because if you've ever read the book of Romans, you know that it says that salvation is a free gift over and over again. Adventists have to work as hard as they can to be saved. Don't try to deny it. Ellen White said that the soul itself pushes out their sins in Jesus' power. So unless you're continually making progress, you [Adventists] won't be saved, according to your theology. Tell me that you believe Ephesians 2:8-9, 2nd Timothy 1:9 and Titus 3:5 where it tells believers that they HAVE BEEN SAVED, when Ellen White said that no one should believe that. The thing that grieves me, is that if you believe Ellen White, you CANNOT accept Jesus' REAL free gift. And if you don't accept Jesus' free gift, you won't be saved. |

Free? Yes, FREE! Praise Him! The thing is, even the acceptance of salvation is the work of Christ within us. |

A truly free gift doen't have strings attached. You don't have to do something later in order to keep the free gift. I think SDAs view salvation a little bit like a payroll advance. For example, I am going to be on vacation so before I leave I pay the neighbor boy to mow the lawn and pick up the mail. He didn't do anything for the money yet. But when I return, I expect the lawn to have been mowed and the mail to be sitting in a pile on the counter. If these aren't done, I am going to ask for my money back. |

Diana, Yes! I was baptized at the church I have been attending since October of last year. It was a surprise to me as I had no idea they were going to do this. To top it off I had a SDA friend with me. Praise God for his unexpected ways. The funny thing is when I through out my EGW books I came across my baptismal certificate with the all the conditions I accepted to be SDA. I didn't like it at all and felt I needed to do this again in the name of Jesus as my Lord and Savior. The one who came down to live, die and be resurrected to give me eternal life. I don't need extra, just Jesus. I am so happy. I finally feel like this was the right way. In his joy! Shelley |

River, I wonder if the SDA church WOULD give back all a person's tithes, if a former asked for them back? :-\ |

River and Asurprise, I have often thought I would like to ask that they refund all my tithes, seeing as I received nothing for what I put in! Diana |

I was thinking of you when I said that Diana...thinking of what you told us maybe three or four years ago. It might have rubbed some salt into the wound, but was not intended as such, but always in sympathy with you in love and not to be heartless. Your story left a lasting impression on me about how Adventism, from the top down, reaches into the pockets of those who cannot afford being robbed through spiritual abuse and intimidation. River |

River, I forgave you long ago. I am sure I was not the only one who thought like I did as an sda. I thank God for caring for me through all these years. Diana |
