Review and Herald, October 28, 1909: "The creed of that faith is generally compressed into the wellknown formula: 'There is no god but God, and Mohammed is his prophet'. But there is another and longer form, which reads as follows,'I believe in God and his angels, and his books, and his prophets, and the last day, and the predestination of good and evil by God, and I bear witness that there is no God but God, and I bear witness that Mohammed is his slave and his prophet'. From the above it must be perfectly clear that Mohammedanism is very far from being the heathen religion, as some are wont to believe. It teaches belief in God, angels, the prophets, the last day, and the resurrection of the dead. More than this, About one half of the koran is a polemic against polytheism and TRINITARIANISM. In fact the word Allah is an abbreviation of Al-iah which means the ONE, TRUE, ONLY God. There is something in the nature of a challenge in the word itself to the dominant Christian church of the period when Mohammedanism arose. For the church at that time was sunk in the maze of the worship of saints and images when Mohammed came asserting THAT everlasting truth: 'THERE is but ONE GOD'." This is something I recently found posted on the CARM SDA forum discussion. There are several intense discussions going on there about such things as Dwight Nelson's sermon from last Dec.,and Andrews University students bowing down (in Muslim attire) in an Islamic mosque, etc. Recently the SDA mayor of Loma Linda was involved in a Ramadan celebration, along with other SDAs. |

And do you see what that quote from the Review admits? They admit (indirectly) that they are non-trinitarian. Moreover, that quote is from 1909. The SDA organization insists that after the Desire of Ages was published, EGW corrected their early non-trinitarian beginnings and established trinitarianism. Wrong. It's right here: D of A was published in 1898. In 1909—six years before EGW died, the official church paper declared their official approval of Islam's antitrinitarianism. They have been deceiving their members as well as the public. EGW did NOT correct the organization's anti-trinitarianism...and EGW was alive and well when this article was published. It's no wonder they are so sympathetic to Islam. Colleen |

Colleen, are there still segments of Adventism that admit to being anti-trinitatian? I know there are so many branches of the organization. If there are, I bet they have some EGW resources that would further support what you guys have uncovered here. |

There is a growing return to non-trinitarianism. Generally this movement is considered "on the fringe", but there is a swell of conservative Adventists who are returning to anti-trinitarianism because, they say, it represents original, true Adventism. There actually are a lot of EGWreferences that show she was not a classical trinitarian at any time. The article "Discovering the Adventist Jesus" in the May/June, 2007, issue of Proclamation found here: http://lifeassuranceministries.org/Proclamation2007_MayJun.pdf gives many quotes and citations showing that post-DA EGW didn't teach the classic trinity. Included in the article is a quote from a paper written by Jerry Moon at the Andrews SDA Seminary in 2006 in which he demonstrates that EGW's "Heavenly Trio" is not the classic trinity of Christian tradition. He, of course, is defending EGW's view as the right view...but it's very telling that he openly admits it's not the trinity of Christianity. Internally, they KNOW they don't believe in the Trinity as Christians do. If they did, they could not say that Allah is the same as God. In fact, I believe that when SDAs say they worship the same god that Islam honors...they are telling the truth. Neither their god nor Islam's god is a Trinity. Colleen |

Some say that God is three separate persons who comprises one God: Tritheism? Some say that God is like a family: one family with three members. Some say that God is One person who acts in different modes: modalism? Some say a whole lot of other things. In the end, how does that affect my salvation? Why is that so important that whomever believes different than the traditional view is consider heretic? Hec |

Oh, what a horrible, shocking picture of those students bowing down in that Muslim mosque! And what an evil man, Mohammad was!!! He and his band would attack caravans just to rob them! He was a murdering, raping, thieving, pedophile! (That last because one of his followers gave his six year old daughter to him for a wife. He waited until the child was nine before he consummated the marriage, but how evil that still was!) He met with an "angel" that called itself Gabriel in a cave. At first he thought he might be demon possessed because of what happened to him in the cave, but his wife (must have been his FIRST wife!) reassured him that the visitations must be from God and he went downhill from there! He got men to follow him by promising them that if they died, they would go to Heaven and have a bunch of virgins. The worst thing about the Adventists' behavior here is that they're giving their "approval" to a religion that rejects Jesus as the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE; and the ONLY way to be saved! Not that Adventism is actually Christian (because they deny that Jesus is the ONLY way. They believe, like Muslims, that their works play a part in salvation. Muslins believe that their "good" works must outweigh their "bad" works in order to go to Heaven, so they, like Adventists, never have any security.) It looks like satan is gathering his fatal religions together. SDAs and Roman Catholics and Muslims, at least. Roman Catholic leaders are trying to "be nice" to Islam now, from what I read recently. I wonder if the devil will join all the false religions together, or if he will have them all bow down to Islam, or what? We live in exciting times. |

Hec, for sure we cannot understand the Trinity. The thing that matters, though, is that we understand that the Trinity is One God...and that there are three Persons, all of whom possess the fullness of every attribute of God. The tritheistic idea has the three being not of the same substance, but God is God. Every single trait and attribute of the Father is in the Son is in the Spirit. It is their roles that differ. The heresy comes in when God the Son is not perceived as coming personally in the flesh (read 1 John) or as not possessing the full advantage of every attribute of God. If Jesus isn't fully and minutely God, we don't worship and honor Him as God, and if we aren't trusting in the real Jesus, we're not believing unto salvation. We can't quantify God, but we have to believe that God is One, yet God is a Trinity that is indivisible. All three are one God, and they can't be broken apart...or it's not our One True God. Dwight Nelson (who gives me goose pimples - aside from making me nauseous) is antichrist, and Andrews University is not far behind! 1Jn_2:18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. Tit_1:16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. |
