In 1st Tim 1-5 Paul says that the Spirit expressly says that in the latter days some will teach not to marry and also some will teach that certain meats are to be abstained from. He says both are teachings of demons. This is a harsh judgement which I'm not arguing with but does it leave those who teach such things more at risk of demonis attacks? Greg |

Didn't Paul say that it's better not to be married? Hec |

Paul didn't teach that people should not marry. He taught that there were advantages to not being married, but that everyone wasn't suited for the single life. So there is no contradiction on Paul's part. |

No he didn't say any such thing, nor did he give any such commands. he said that he would that all men were even as himself, meaning totally dedicated to the Gospel. Corinthians I 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. Corinthians I 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. Corinthians I 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. Corinthians I 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.(meaning burn with passion) Paul is teaching how to avoid trouble in you life that takes away from our commitment of serving the lord fully. Paul recognized that men are gifted differently. Paul was a single minded servant of Christ, not of his own will, but Gods will as his testimony provides. He threw everything he had or was into the ministry for Christ, but following that statement he does a reality check about this.Pauls sermon was nowhere near teaching not to marry, nor does what he said interfere with marriage in any way. In Matthew 19:1 tru 12 Jesus explains this and in Matthew 19:11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. Matthew 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. |

G'day all. Sorry about the double post. I do all my Internet stuff from my iPhone while monitoring self steering farm machinery and my first post dissapeared and by the time I got around to reposting couldn't exactly remember what I said. But then niether post appeared online for about a day. Is that normal? I think EGW also recommended that young people should refrain fromarrying as time was too short but my memory is a bit fuzzy on that one. I have some friends (hardcore SDA) whose 30 year old daughter recently suffered a demonic possession and had about 12 demons caste out. Listening to the story straight from my friends, her parents, there is no doubt in my mind it was fair dinkum (Aussie for absolutely genuine) although we were all sceptical at first. Only a couple of months before the mother, whom the daughter has a very close bond with, discovered that the daughter was eating bacon and prawns etc and gave her a thorough Adventist verbal bashing. What are the thoughts of FAF people? Cheers Greg |

I'll tell you what I think Greg, for what its worth. I have witnessed at least three solid cases of demon possession and one possible. I won't go into detail here about the symptoms here, but I can tell you it's not pretty. I don't know how they get in a person even though I was involved in the deliverance in two of the cases, I can tell you they don't come out easy. I know a man fairly well who is a practicing Adventist who I suspect has fully given himself over to the heresy's of that cult, and I suspect, controlled by a demon. I also have other Adventist friends, about 40 of them whom I don't think have given themselves over to that spirit and are not anywhere like the man aforementioned. I can't exactly put into words the difference between the man I suspect is demon controlled and the others. I am not sure whether he is possessed by a demon or directly controlled by a demon. But emphatically yes, I do think that Adventism opens some kind of doorway to being, if not possessed by demons, then under the direct control of demons which almost amounts to the same thing from what I have observed in this man. When a man or woman is possessed by demons, demons have someway invaded their body, again I don't know how this happens. When someone who is possessed by demons comes in contact with someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit, or a group of people who is filled with the Holy Spirit, many times those demons start raising a ruckus which can cause the man or woman to do things not possible such as crawl on there back exactly like a snake would crawl, or a woman who ordinarily has a tiny light voice to speak in a deep guttural voice even more deeper than any man, thus the un-natural use of a persons vocal cords. Now, having experienced have to crawl on my back through concertina wire in the service I can tell you it's impossible to crawl on your back without using your elbows and digging in your heels, and even that is HARD. But in two cases I saw this happen and they neither used their arms or their legs to do it. These weren't gymnasts, they were just ordinary people you might meet anywhere. From reading the records I think Ellen White may have inadvertently opened the way to demons, most probably through rebellion as the records show from the Methodist Church she was attending that they had to expel her after pleading with her not to teach a doctrine of date setting, which she picked up from Miller. I'm not saying this is the case, I'm just saying I THINK it is a possibility.I think that is where her 'visions' or revelations were coming from when she was in those 'swoons', although it could have been a medical condition, but I do believe she was fully under control of them before she died. The demons might have come through a mix of medical condition and rebellion. Who really knows, but this I firmly believe, that there is a spirit behind Adventism that is not of our natural world, and that spirit controls Adventism in a general supervising way and it keeps the Adventist people imprisoned. It envelopes them and makes it hard for them to get loose. I don't know a whole lot about the subject of demons, but I'm pretty sure you can't take one in with your bacon or Prawns. Having been involved with a deliverance ministry and having witnessed what I have, I think I know more about it than the average bear, but still don't know squat. That will maybe give you something to think about while you go back and fourth on your tractor. Me, I'd rather think about old tractors, old dogs and children than think about them demons, they flat give me the heebejeebies. Gday and God bless. River |

Thanks River. Yes I totally agree they don't come through food but was wondering more along the lines of the mind control. What you say about he voice change is one of the things they described very vividly. Also I don't understand why these two teachings (abstaining from certain foods and not marrying) are said to be doctrines of demons when many oher things aren't. But given that "all Scripture is profitable for teachng, correction..." etc I think we just need to accept these things and move on. It is interesting that this family spent several years as volunteers in a remote Aboriginal community in the desert in Western Aust. Whilstt there a young Aboriginal boy was killed but nobody was sure who by. In Abo. culture somebody has to pay so they decided this lady, then a girl of about ten, should receive the punishment. She was given three cut across her back. Her parents didn't know (go figure) until this demon business recently when her sister asked her if one demon was to do with the cuts on her back. While I am not comfortable in saying all sdas are demon possed it does seem as though something just keeps them blinded. But this may just be the "veil" that Paul speaks of. I am grateful to God for my own escape because I was in there with the worst of them. I have learnt so much from you guys and following the links you put up. I was totally blown away this last week as I read the "Prophet for profit" stuff. Won't sda leadership get a big surprise when they discover God wants to hold an IJgate. I'm just being metaphorical. In Australia, at least where I am, very few sdas have anything other than a vague idea about their doctrines and hence many of them are just really nice Christian people that simply believe Jesus died for them and you HAVE to keep the Sabbath. Many, especially younger ones, haven't got a clue what the denomination teaches except that it is the "truth". Back to this teaching which is of demons. In verse 6 (1tim. 4) Paul says if we instruct our brothers in these things we are good ministers of Jesus Christ. So clearly we have a responsibility to try and point out this teaching to those caught up in it. Cheers bless you all Greg |

I think the teachings of abstaining from foods and marriage are the doctrines of demons because: 1. Food that becomes available for us to eat is to be received with thanks giving. 2. Because God made man and he made woman to be his partner, that is if you go back to Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. God said from the beginning that it is not good a man should go through life alone, yet here are these people teaching that men should reject food which is to be recieved with thanks giving to God and reject woman who has been given to supply man with something that nothing else can take the place of unless it is given to him of God to dedicate his whole life and his whole being and everything that he is to the Gospel and the glory of Jesus Christ. To come right down to it, that is rebellion. That is only an opinion off the top my head. River |
