My husband just sent me this email today, does this sound familiar? When Jesus was here on the Earth, his greatest critics were the Pharisees. They had three major problems with Him: ~The way He kept the Sabbath ~What He ate ~His teaching on the coming of the Lord His biggest issues with them: ~Their lack of love for the "unsaved" ~Their over-emphasis on the law ~Their ignorance of the scriptures Hmmmmm.... I say the same thing too. Hmmm..... Yes it does sound familiar. Do you think that the SDAs will ever come around and accept this type of change in their lives and ministries? |

Slightly longer sentence...because then they'd be Biblical Christians. When I was born again I did not have the luxury of stepping out of Adventism right then and there however I no longer though of myself as a Seventh Day Adventist but a 7 Day Adventist. In that I was constantly in the word, daily, and making new discoveries. Once you are born again you are in a state of transformation even if you cannot publicly disavow your official standing until much later. I was born again in 1987...and rebaptized into Christ at Calvary Chapel in Eugene in 2004. (Message edited by RossBondReturns on March 25, 2011) |

And what would be so wrong with that. |

Being out of the place of controlling their lives scares Adventists...heck it scares anyone who is selfish and wants to maintain power. When you give up power you give up control. Many want to be saved but want to maintain control of their lives. You can't have it both ways. People are also afraid that if they accept God they will not be able to have fun, be themselves and all manner of things. This is just fear of giving up their lives and taking up their cross. We are called to be selfless and we can't be selfless if we don't have Christ because everything we do prior to Christ has some essence of self in it. We want to be seen for what we do, and known for what we do. The only important thing in actuality is have you accepted Christ and what He did. God will only make you better and more of who you are, he will only improve His creation. Of course if you weren't asking about this...I hope it helped anyway. Ross |

It grieves me that so many Adventists, when presented with what the Bible says versus their own doctrine, will, in effect, put their fingers in their ears, hum real loud and shout, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!" It really takes a miracle for someone to come out of ANY false religion - even obviously false ones like Islam and Mormonism! |

Asurprise is right. When I look back at my own 'awakening', I can only come to the conclusion that it was a miracle from God. Not so long before this awakening I was quite a stubborn (although not extreme) SDA. I still can't explain it. |

I had to laugh when reading the post by *Asurprise.* My husband (a former SDA and former Mormon, now a born again christian) and I (former Catholic, now born again christian) are engaged in deep conversations with his extremely devout SDA son & daughter-in-law over false SDA doctrine. . . and yes, it is frustrating when they put their fingers in their ears, hum real loud and shout, *I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!* (Augh!!!) However, we press on toward praying for them and speaking truth in love - that the veil on their spiritual eyes will one day be removed. |

Grace1958_f, Welcome to the forum. Your experience is somewhat simular to mine. However, I am not one that the family wants to confront so there havn't been to many of these kinds of talks. Once, an aunt of mine did ask why I wasn't an SDA any longer. When I told her that I considered Ellen White to be a false prophet she got extremly mad at me and never brought up the topic again. Ironic because she was leading a very worldly life and when I was doing the same she never asked why I wasn't in church (I was an SDA member in 'good standing'). Fearless Phil |

Thank you, everybody, for such kind *welcome* posts! My husband and I are honored to join at such a time as this. ( I am the more talkative one, so it will probably be me you will see posting) I am so thankful for Colleen informing me about this forum. The majority of our friends have told us not be concerned about our SDA kids because they are saved Christians that just belong to a religion that goes to church on Saturday’s instead of Sundays. When we said that we disagreed with their perspective (because my husband was born in, and raised by, an SDA family - and that he can attest that he definitely was not saved as an SDA) we just got blank stare’s back at us because they know absolutely nothing about the SDA religion. We have felt like the *lone rangers* in regard to our desire to share God’s truth in his word with the kids. Now, being able to read much of what is shared here nurtures and encouragement!!! My husband left the SDA religion as a young adult. That separation allowed him to study the bible on his own, without SDA influence. He began discovering fallacies in EGW’s teachings and SDA doctrines. During his search for truth, Mormon missionaries coerced him into joining the Mormon church. He said it was easy for him to do because a prophet’s dreams & visions are the basis of the Mormon religion so it was subconsciously comfortable for him to slip into that frame of mind again. However, when he began studying the *Book of Mormon,* God led him to see error in Mormon teachings. At that same time, God revealed the true salvation message through Jesus Christ to him. At that point in time, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, became a born again Christian and left the Mormon church. The Lord has recently orchestrated many opportunities for my husband and I to dialogue via email with the kids about SDA belief’s verses our belief’s as born again Christians. This Forum's posts help me to understand what my SDA daughter-in-law is really saying - because sometimes I get so confused. Her perception's of what the bible teaches is often entirely different than what I believe the bible is saying. After some of our intense conversations, I often feel like someone just banged a hammer on my head while yelling *commandments!!!! laws!!!* as they lash around a whip yelling, *Obey!!! Obey!!!* This forum is an encouragement and a blessing to my husband and I as we continue to pray for our SDA kids. |

A late welcome, MJ and Grace! Wonderful to have you here, where we can dialogue, encourage, ask real questions and process the doctrines we used to believe with all our hearts. |

Grace, I have a sister I want to sit in a chair, tie her to it and put tape over her mouth so she cannot talk. Of course that does not mean she will listen to me. I just pray for her. Diana L |
