I came across the following incredible EGW quotes today, where she seems to be teaching "once saved, always saved"--but only if you pay cash money to her cult!
quote:"Let the neglected tithes be now brought in. Let the new year open upon you as men honest in their deal with God. Let those that have withheld their tithes send them in before the year 1896 shall close, that they may be right with God, and never, never again run any risk of being cursed of God. Presidents of our conferences, do your duty; speak not your words, but a plain 'Thus saith the Lord.' Elders of churches, do your duty. Labor from home to home, that the flock of God shall not be remiss in this great matter, which involves such a blessing or such a curse." (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, page 306, paragraph 3.) "Let the neglected tithes be now brought in. Let the new year open upon you as men honest in their deal with God. Let those who have withheld their tithes, send them in before the year 1904 shall close, that they may be right with God, and never, never again run any risk of being cursed by God." (Atlantic Union Gleaner, 12-14-1904, paragraph 7.) "Let the neglected tithes be now brought in. Let the new year (shall we not say a quarter?) open upon you as men honest in their deal with God. Let those who have withheld their tithes, send them in before the year 1904 shall close, that they may be right with God, and never, never again run any risk of being cursed by God." (East Michigan Banner, 02-01-1905, paragraph 8.)
It looks like the readers of the Banner missed out on the offer--it had already expired by the time it was published! LOL! I'm guessing that she probably meant they had to continue to pay their tithes in order to not be cursed by God (and that being only in the tithe department--you most certainly could be cursed by God for other things, such as eating meat!). But the quotes sure sounded like "OSAS" to me, and I found them to be pretty hilarious. Jeremy |

You know, if you're a false prophet, sooner or later your pronouncements cancel each other out. (Not to mention that you may unwittingly set up their expiration dates in an attempt to manipulate your public to perform for your benefit...) Sigh...I thank God for making me see. I completely KNOW how all this looks to a "true believer"... Colleen |

No problem Ellen. Simply tell me where I can find a Levitical Priest to take my turtledoves to. |

Unbelievable Jeremy!! Maybe this is why a family member of mine believes that because he pays tithe, God has blessed him and he has always had enough money to pay his bills. This is his rationalization as to why he pays tithe. sigh. This rationalization drives me crazy. What about the person who struggles to pay tithe and yet they can't pay their bills... What about people who are gazillionaires and never pay tithe? Do we pay tithe so we can be blessed by God? vivian p.s. LOL Colleen... "(Not to mention that you may unwittingly set up their expiration dates in an attempt to manipulate your public to perform for your benefit...)" Very funny that you caught that Jeremy. |
