I think it is also valid and simple to point out that no where else does Jesus say Verily, Verily I say unto you today....despite frequently using the first part of the statement. |

Thanks, all of you great people, for your very thoughtful, enlightening, and compelling responses! I still have so much to unlearn and so much else to learn! In other words, just because I say I've come a long way, I still can't claim I've arrived! |

Here is a helpful article about Luke 23:43 by Robert Bowman in the Christian Research Journal, which also demonstrates Rick's point above: http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/cri/cri-jrnl/web/crj0055a.html Jeremy (Message edited by Jeremy on March 04, 2011) |

Wow... I scored 100%... although I do admit to making a guess on a couple questions. Michael |

Yenc, "Noah warned the world of God's righteous judgment" and Noah is called "a preacher of righteousness" is not the same as "he preached for 120 years and begged the people to come in and be saved to avoid dying in the flood." Furthermore, saying that the people had an opportunity to take refuge and be saved in the Ark would negate God's very words: Genesis 6:13, "So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!" AND v17-21 "Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.” The fact is, EGW filled in the blanks for us and made this altered scenario "plausible" in our minds. And isn't in interesting how all of us, born and bred SDAs, remember the story in the exact same way....and it differs from the biblical account in the exact same way? That's no coincidence. EGW does not get a PASS on this one, sorry. I agree with you that the doctrines aren't manufactured out of thin air. Twisting Scripture is their specialty. The more I read Scripture, the more I find things that she twisted and misrepresented. At the very least, she's guilty of negligence (not reading whole passages) and ignorance (not understanding). But I find it interesting how these twisted stories now all of a sudden perfectly illustrate the aberrant doctrine. Michael -- I wonder if your score reflects that you were not born and raised SDA. Not that the quiz is hard (at all) but I based it mostly on the version of the stories that children are told growing up. Did Karetha take it? |

Cloudwatcher, Well... had I taken the test a year ago I'm sure I would have scored much lower. My "EGW detection radar" (to put it kindly) is quite a bit more sensitive now than it was then. There may be some merit to what you say. When I first threw EGW out (while still attending the SDA church) the "filter" I immediately applied to everything I heard was along the lines of "do I at all remember that detail from before I was a SDA?" It wasn't a perfect filter for sure because so much had unknowingly crept in, but it did exist. As time progressed that foundation became more "sounds like EGW" versus "sounds like the Bible" (sort of a discernment thing). When I just took your test many of the answers were obvious from my studies (I have directly studied a topic that mentions it), others had an obvious selection that was clearly "off" that I could confidently (99%+) eliminate even if I had not studied the topic. For the rest I just made a guess. For what it is worth, the questions near the top do have quite a predictable answer pattern which will skew the results in favor of correct answers. I tried not to notice, but it was pretty obvious. Did you post this test before?... it seemed somewhat familiar except for the last couple questions and the score "93%" even comes to mind. If I took it before then obviously my result is invalidated. I will ask Karetha if she has taken the test. Michael |

I thought I had taken it, but when I actually went to do so, I realized I had not taken it before. I scored an abymsal 67% !!! Terrible! More study is in order, I do believe! |

I scored 73%, but didn't get to see which ones I missed....I would have liked to have seen which ones I missed. My score was 11 correct out of 15. |
