Skeeter...I agree completely !!! One who is truly "born again", such a new birth will exhibit itself openly in their life. Scripture states that in Christ you are a new creation, all things become new. In my opinion,Judas hadnt been born again. So he never "lost" salvation. Salvation "belongs to the Lord". How can God lose one of His sheep? God knows who His sheep are. When God saves someone, that salvation is a complete salvation(Phil.1:6). That is why a true believer can have full assurance of their salvation in Christ. PRAISE GOD!!!! ...Animal |

A true believer! By all measures, Judas was a true believer. As Colleen said before, he went with the others in the missionary journey and did all the miracles that the others did. He even had a "high" position in the "company". He was one of the twelve and until the last week everyone would think that he was "a true believer". We now know that he was not, but at the time, he was just like any other of the disciples. That brings the question back, Can we know NOW that we are saved? Can we guarantee that none of us will turn back because we "really" are not "true believers" even though we think we are? Or as SDAs say, we need to wait until the end to be sure? Hec |

Hec, I don't believe that Judas is an example of a true believer. Can you provide better proof other than that he was "there"? Also, what scripture verse describes him as being in a "high position"? Am I missing something? Thanks, Leigh Anne |

Never mind. I Googled the words "Judas high position" and immediately came up with Desire of Ages. L.A. |

There is no biblical evidence at all that Judas was a true believer. Being in a bar doesnt make one an alcoholic. Going to church doesnt make one born again. If you focus on self, I can understand how might conclude that they can lose their salvation. But when your focus is upon Christ...I dont see how anyone can conclude that a true believer(born again heart)could lose their salvation. Salvation is a GOD event, not a human event. Salvation is of God, not of man. God doesnt save a person "half way". When God saves an individual HE "does it right the first time". Salvation isnt ours to lose....think about that. ....Animal..dont you trust God to do it right? I do !!! |

How do I know that I am a true believer? If I show all the fruits of a true believer, but at some point I go back, was I a true believer? If not, how do I know now that I am one? Hec |

Judas held onto his old ways. Dishonesty, desire to gain power. Judas did not repent of his ways, he held onto his sin. He did not lay these defects at Christ's feet and seek restoration. That suggests that he did not trust or accept Christ as his Master. Kind of brings that old sin thing back into the definition of saved or not. Jim |
