Also, compare Leviticus 16:22 KJV:
"And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities..."
...with Isaiah 53:11 KJV:
"...for he shall bear their iniquities."

The thought that Adventism would consider satan, and Jesus equals,to the extent that lots would have to be drawn to determine their desired rolls, baffles me. Drawing lots is a fifty/ fifty proposition, it can go either way, like a coin toss. It is used to get an unbiased, objective standard on which to further proceed. Let me get this straight, according to Adventist theology, if the drawing of lots had the two goats reverse rolls, then satan would have died on the cross.

SHUDDER!!!!! To think I used to believe that makes me shudder. Jesus and Satan equals????? EGW did not get that message from GOD!!!! No where in the Bible does it say that. Thank you God for showing me the truth. You are awesome God.

I don't think that the reversal of roles was possible. Neither goat represented Jesus or Satan until after the lots were drawn. Once the lots were drawn, then they were already assigned and could not reverse roles either.

I never heard anything about Adventists believing that Jesus was any less than God - that is, while I was an Adventist.
It wasn't until after the Lord rescued me that I found out about Ellen White's book "Spirit of Prophecy" - volumn 1. (Now that I keep mentioning it, they'll probably take it off the shelves of the Adventist Book Centers.) In this book in the first chapter (about page 17 in this little hard cover), she clearly says that the Father gathered the angels together to "confer special honor" upon the Son and "that it was ordained by himself" [the Father] that the Son was to be equal with the Father. She then goes on to say how Satan was jealous of the fact that the Father had promoted Jesus ahead of himself; so she clearly infers that Jesus and Satan are equals. |

What I don't understand is this: The OT Sanctuary teaches us that a high priest could only enter the Most Holy Place after he had been purified and atoned for. From what I understand, that the only reason we can go before God in prayer is the fact that Christ has bore our sins and we have been cleansed. So for an adventist who believes that their sins remain until they are placed on Satan... how do they go before God in prayer if they haven't been cleansed or purified?

Vivian; If I'm not mistaken, Adventists believe that Jesus' blood took the sins of the world to the Sanctuary in Heaven; so now (according to Adventist theology) God is sitting in a dirty Sanctuary - God, Who is too Holy to look at sin! |

Pretty much, Asurprise--that's right. The Great Controversy says that Jesus' blood removes sin from those who repent, but it isn't done away with. It's stored in the heavenly record books until they're finally placed back onto the human (if he didn't remember to confess everything, thus not being "savable") or onto satan the scapegoat.
The Adventist Jesus' blood only buys us a "probation", not a full redemption.
