What is the difference between Acts 15:30-31: "The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." And EGW talking about God's exalting Jesus? Hec |

A gigantic, 170-foot, white statue of Jesus was unveiled by workmen in the Polish countryside this week. A large crane lifted a golden crown on Jesus' head to complete this extraordinary statuary. This huge statue of Jesus is larger than the Christ the Redeemer overlooking Rio de Janiero, Brazil--making it the largest in the world. This statue aptly reveals the resurgence and importance of Christianity in a former Communist-led nation. Dennis Fischer (Message edited by Dennis on November 11, 2010) |

Ellen's theology was based on Jesus was not God, but a created being, an angel (Michael) Because Ellen's presupposition that Jesus was not wholly God and 'could have failed' she has God exalting (as in making/creating) Jesus (our example) to now be 'a' God as a reward for his perfect human obedience - she has God giving attributes and honors to Jesus that he had previously lacked. She then follows this with: if we do what Jesus did, render perfect obedience, we too shall be rewarded. NASSSTY THEOLOGY!! The biblical use of the term exalt meant 'To heighten, raise high, elevate, lift up' from earth to heaven, a return to His preexistent position as God. Of course, this only applies if you believe JESUS IS GOD!! |

Boy Dennis, that was random! Hec, I believe you were referring to Acts 5. I agree with Jonvil. Ellen believed that Jesus was exalted from a created existence. You may remember that she wrote that Satan was jealous that God chose Jesus instead of him (were they equal to begin with?). She wrote this ~ "Satan again rejoiced with his angels that he could, by causing man's fall, pull down the Son of God from his exalted position. He told his angels that when Jesus should take fallen man's nature, he could overpower him, and hinder the accomplishment of the plan of salvation." (Spiritual Gifts, Volume 1, page 27, paragraph 1.) So in other words, the "exalted" she was talking about was more of a job promotion. In Acts 5, Paul was speaking to Jews and referring to the contrast between Jesus' humble earlthy existence "hanging on a tree" to his rightful place at God's right hand in the Heavenly realm. Ellen ~ job promotion. Bible ~ honored as Leader and Savior. Leigh Anne |

Leigh Anne, my news story fit the title of this thread (not necessarily its theological content). Thanks for posting that quote from Ellen White telling us that Jesus had a sinful nature that was intent upon evil (post-Fall nature of Adam). What blasphemy from the pen of a false prophetess!
