It just came to my mind that some people in the forum may not post often because they thing that since they already posted on a subject, it's no necessary to post again. I think that it is very necessary that people keep posting the same thoughts/arguments/discussion/inputs etc. because 1) there are always new people coming on the forum, and 2) some of the ones who have been here for a while might not have the subject clear in our minds yet. Remember that it took years of indoctrination, and it's not going to take just one or two post to erase that indoctrination. Besides, every time you post, even if it is on the same subject, the Spirit gives you different ideas and words to explain what you think you already explained. I know that it's kind of tiring to be repeating the same things over and over, but I thing, it's the only way that those seeking are going to find. "So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. Hec, Karetha and I were sort-of talking about this today. We were discussing what we share here and how most here have probably heard it a dozen times by now. We concluded this place served the purpose of bearing each others burdens while each of us heals. In that respect, yes, no matter how repetitive ir may seem, I'm glad that we can voice what is on our mind within this loving community. Michael | ||

Hec Good point! I have been officially part of the FAF community since 2005 [and followed the public side before that] but due to the ebb and flow of personal demands I have not always followed closely. I slowly rework the archives [VERY SLOWLY!]...but... Today's discussions are vital to today's needs and today's readership. The archives are priceless but do NOT and cannot replace the need for going over the "ground" again and again. I benefit greatly! Paul Cross | ||

I have been on FAF since March 2004. I keep coming back for fellowship and to encourage new comers. I have made so many friends that way. Here in Vegas I have an outstanding church, but no former sdas who can understand from where I come. Thanks to each of you for being here. Diana L | ||

Hec & MM, I think it's good to hear things multiple times & in multiple ways. After having your worldview turned upside down, it can take awhile... and maybe the 4th person to explain it will say it in a way that finally 'clicks' with me. And we are all so hungry to study God's word...it is beyond wonderful to have a place where we can all give input and ask real questions (unlike some of the Sabbath School classes I remember!). | ||

Sometimes I've probably done just what you've described, Hec, good point. It's partly a fear of being obnoxious, being pushed aside, or seen as a know it all. It's harder, and more rewarding being vulnerable and real with each other, and like Michael said, bearing each other's burdens. | ||

I really appreciate the patience of those who have been here a long time! Sometimes I will learn a lesson, and really think "I get it!", then in a completely different context, that same lesson needs to be relearned. Does that make sense? These forums are a great help with all the "onion layers". Thank you everyone for hanging in there with us as we unpack this junk. | ||

Free, what you describe about having an "I get it" moment and then having to re-visit the subject in a new context totally makes sense. I can't begin to articulate how much I've learned just because of this forum over the 11 years it's been here. It's been a huge blessing from God in my life. Martinc, Your description hesitation and misguided "caution" really describes my experience. This forum is the perfect answer to the disfunctional "church family" dynamics that tell you to ignore the elephant [ELEPHANTS] in the room, the pressure to deny the cognitive disonance and stiffle the pain. My self talk goes something like this; "after a bad trip it is not enough to unpack the baggage, you also have to do the laundry..." THANK GOD he does the cleaning but I do have to open the case and face the mess... I thank God for the body of Christ!! Paul Cross | ||

Hec; I agree!!! Karetha; please ask anything you like! (I remember once starting a thread on the discussion part on purpose for the sake of any Adventists reading it; so that they could see that the SDA church was false. Somebody wrote an objection, saying that subject had already been covered. I wrote back explaining that it needed to be covered again for the sake of those who hadn't read the previous post. And yes, I too need to hear something over and over again, explained in different ways; because I too am recovering from Adventism. Besides, when I was learning that the SDA church was false, I needed to hear and read things over and over again in various ways in order to help me "get" it!) | ||
