Well since tomorrow is Oct 22 i just thought i would start a thread about that. Feel free to make this a discussion about anything. How long has it been since Oct 22 1843 anyway? |

167 years... Can you believe how much our lives in 2010 are affected by that handful of people that sat star gazing all night? |

Day of Atonement: William Miller was a month late.... It began on the evening (sunset) of Sept. 23, 1844. Fearless Phil |

Yes Fearless Phil, their whole theology was basesd on interpreting dates and celestial events, and they were wrong about everything. The "falling of the stars," the blood moon, Orion's opening, and 1843, 1844, and more. On October 22nd, 2006, Sharon and I played out the Great Disappointment in reverse. I had been reading Proclamation and wanted to make our break from Campus Hill SDA church and the SDA complex. It was a beautiful bright Sunday morning, and for the first time, we decided to go to this particular "Sunday chrurch." We drove over to Trinity Evangelical church in Redlands and heard an amazing sermon on "Why I hate to pray." Then we called up the Tinkers who we had never met, and asked to come to the FAF lunch at their house. It was all an amazing day that just didn't feel real. What's the opposite of great disappointment? I think CS Lewis called it, "Surprised by Joy." Martin C |

"Surprised by joy" as were we that Sunday, October 22, 2006. I was standing at the kitchen sink doing some last-minute thing before lunch, when the phone rang. Richard took the call and came and said with happy surprise, "Some people are coming for lunch. They just went to church at Trinity and called to see if they can come to lunch. They're on their way!" And minutes later—there you and Sharon were with Matthew in tow! What a wonderful four years this has been...! Colleen |

Wow! No kidding. Just this year we went to Trinity for the first time. Talk about "Surprised by joy!" Free and I where both stirred in our deep parts by the Spirit that Sunday. The next week we followed it up with lunch with the Tinker's, Martin and Sharon and many more. From where I was then, the love we received, well honestly, it did not seem like it could be real. Now a few short months later, all I can say is that I love you all as well and I to am filled with joy when I hear of another soul being liberated into Truth. Looking forward, not to a date, but to the imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that the scriptures testify of. Harpazo! |

Can't stop smiling... God is so awesome! After church that day we drove to some local trails for an afternoon walk. It was a beautiful day. I have a pic of Harpazo and our son running freely down a trail in their church clothes. I look back at that pic now and all I see is FREEDOM...we had no idea what was in store for us. So happy to know you all! And Happy Anniversary Martin, Sharon and Matthew! 19 days after you found freedom, our little Joshua was born. (Message edited by free2dance on October 21, 2010) |

The year was 1844 and something was astir Because the plucky Millerites thought big things would occur But when they woke the morning of October 23 They all were disappointed and the cause was clear to see The flock had played the numbers game and got the math all wrong And now two cent’ries later we remember with this song That if you need a certain way to flee the coming wrath Then get a guy who knows his stuff before you do the math Or better yet don’t set a date for when things should occur And don’t tell anyone your thoughts no matter if you’re sure Oh spare a thought for Miller while remembering his plight For it was he who led the flock that cold October night The legacy he left behind still haunts us to this day Though many wish the numbers thing would simply go away For now instead of saying that the earth was being cleansed We got the funny notion that the Judgment had commenced Initiated by the King’s decree, 457 starting Then add in seven decades to the true prophetic charting Subtract 490 from 2 thousand and 3 hundred Which takes you right up to the end of days divinely numbered Oh yes, of course, how silly that we never saw before… Investigative Judgment starts in 1844 For if you know prophetically a day is like a year The Sanctuary Doctrine, then, quite readily appears And with the Prophet’s blessing we are certain that it’s true Though other Bible scholars still don’t have the slightest clue Which means that it’s our duty to proclaim it to the rest To prove that we’re the Remnant whose theology is best. |

I just wonder if their faces are long and disappointed when this day rolls around? If they could only see that the angel in Revelation 14:6 was simply declaring the Salvation message that Jesus Himself gave to us through His Word in John 3. And there was no need for another prophet once He Himself had given that message, and revelation. |

I remember personal anxiety back in 1964 over a connection made between 1844, the 120 years of Noah and Jesus statement of 'as in the days of Noah, so shall it be......'. There was always that "what IF" question. NO MORE! |

I post a scripture on facebook every Friday. Earlier this week John 5:24 came to mind for use this week. I had not noticed the connection between the content and the date until today. |
