What consequences for life, relationships and health makes obedience to the incorrect Gospel? Brings harm. What are all the damage caused in our lives because of the zeal for the ideas that were not the message of the gospel, but something else? When we replace the gospel by prophecy what are fruits? |

Goran, Here is how I would answer your question. When our FOCUS is not Jesus, then the 'fruits' are bad. I have been doing the challenge of reading Galatians everyday for 30 days (now on day 22). Here is what I learned just this last day or two. This is what I wrote in my journal. Gal.3:2 "Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the SPIRIT by works of the LAW or by hearing with FAITH?" LAW=NO SPIRIT Gal 3:5 "Does he who supplies the SPIRIT to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the LAW, or by hearing with FAITH v7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham v 12 But the LAW is not of FAITH, RATHER The one who does them shall live by them." LAW=NO FAITH GAL 5:2 "Look: I Paul say to you that if you accept circumcision, CHRIST will be of no advantage to you. v 4 You are SEVERED from Christ, you who would be justified by the LAW; you have fallen away from grace," LAW=NO CHRIST After I finished writing this out I saw this: with LAW there is NO SPIRIT, NO FAITH, NO CHRIST. Somehow if our attention is on the LAW we cannot help but become LEGALISTIC. If we FOCUS ON CHRIST & have the SPIRIT we cannot help but produce good fruit: Gal 5:16-24. Not sure if you are asking to get an answer, or to make us think, but I am amazed that when God shows me something, often He gives me an opportunity almost immediately to share with someone else. I learn & retain by sharing. Not saying I am right here, just this is what I saw. What do you think? J9 |

J9--wonderful post! Goran, prophecy begins to come into focus when we make Jesus and the gospel our primary concern and "grid" to define reality. And we'll find that prophecy is far less specific in the Bible than we were taught to think it was. EGW made prophecy the capstone of Adventism. But we do not derive true doctrines from prophetic passages of Scripture. Prophecy has to be understood through the gospel. Colleen |

J9 thanks for sharing. I am asking to get an answer. I already know and suffering from legalistic fruits, but like you said, needing to communicate with others that I manage to articulate my opinions. I agree with Colleens statement that EGW made prophecy the capstone of Adventism. Fruit of that was all that J9 learn from Galatians: NO SPIRIT, NO FAITH, NO CHRIST. It is horor truth. Even, if prophecy abouth future things is true, prophecy is not and can not be the gospel. We can not be saved even by true prophecy, even more if it is false. |

Thank you God for opening my understanding & for the opportunity to share it with another brother in Christ. I agree Goran - it is a horror NO truth. I find even my prayers are changing. They are much more full of praise & gratitude! Better fruit! J9 |

I come to conclusion that on top on all Adventists mistakes is misinterpretation that prophecy contains instructions for salvation. That mistake is more done in mission than in home USA. First Adventists in USA were before adventism in different churches, and already believed in Jesus, but in mission SDA reach peoples who are without any information about Jesus or with some little information so THE FIRST THING that was put in their minds was and is the prophecy. They think the prophecy is gospel. It was like that in my home country - Croatia, Ex Yugoslavia. I now think it was the major mistake that was make and harm is big. Church growth was based on true day of rest and clean food. In Croatia, peoples are Catholic and do not read Bible, they go to church on Sunday and often eat pork. So, if you want to be different there is a way to be: Sabbath and clean food. |

You have a huge insight I think Goran. SDA does not preach & teach JESUS CHRIST & HIM crucified. It teaches anything & everything else first, last, & always. It takes the FOCUS & puts it away from the true gospel. It does not make disciples of JESUS. It makes disciples of SDAism. It is idolatry. My husband & I used to ask each other how Billy Graham could do a crusade, baptize people into JESUS CHRIST, & then tell them to go & join the church of their choice??!! See, we were all about church & doctrine, & prophecy, & 'being right', & knowing nothing of being led by the Spirit. It was all OT & NO NT. This is nothing new to those on the forum who are not 'newbies' like me. It helps me to write & clarify & strengthen my understanding in a safe place. May I have strength & opportunities & courage to share openly, esp among those who are still captive. I appreciated all the dialog between you & Colleen. You persisted in trying to question & understand, in spite of language, & kept at it until you came to understanding. Thank God your spirit was discerned & you did not 'go away' or give up before you came to the truth. I think many people do not persist as you did, & as Colleen did. Thank you Colleen & everyone who takes the time to go over & over the same ground with new people. J9 |

Thanks J9. we must sharp ours message to Sda friends , because it is not effective to be critic, we must give a way out... I am not pleased with looking up on how Sda think that or do that...and even mocking.. There is damage and they are our family and friends. |

The passage in Gal 6:1-3 maybe speaks to that when it says 'you who are godly should gnetly and humbly help that person back onto the right path.'? It is talking about a believer who is overcome by some sin & is not an exact parallel, but has some relevance perhaps. Sometimes 'shcok value' has a place in waking someone up but I think many people retreat if not handled gently. They do not persist. Many come here & lurk for months because they are just beginning to wonder about things. Did you mean 'we must shape (not sharp or sharpen) our message to SDA friends? If SDAs are born & raised rather than converted into at an older age they may seem to be defensive & argumentative because the religion has had them so 'all in our heads' - intellectual & without Jesus & grance. It takes a lot of wisdom & time & perhaps as Jesus said prayer & fasting to bring them to truth. No one likes to feel stupid or duped, & that is what has happened to us as SDAs. Our egos take a blow - & they need to. But a gentle spirit helps. My father used to say 'You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar,' J9 |

Yes: sharp to be precise, shape to precise point not general...focus on one thing...like that...to hit in the root of the thing and not give our strenght to vain talking about... Meny of SDAs have not interest in SDA doctrines whatsoever, they just socialise, and than what is the point to show them the false claims of that doctrine? Truth is that not much of SDAs even give heed to theology and Bible. I think that the root is in something else. |
