The Jan, Feb, March issue of Proclamation! is now online here. It's a packed issue focussing on who Jesus is and also exploring how and what Adventists children learn about Jesus. I think you'll really like the articles by Chris Badenhorst, Scott Blakey, and Bill Born looking at different facets of the incarnation: what is was and why it was. Carolyn Macomber's faith story is in this issue, and a poem written by Nicole Stevenson after she committed her life fully to Jesus at the end of the FAF weekend is really moving. I explore how SDA children's books teach about Jesus and subtly but powerfully turn the gospel inside-out and leave us with a weak Jesus while teaching us the right words. Chris Lee's back page article is succinct and clear about what should and shouldn't divide us as the body of Christ. Enjoy! And while you're at it, check out the very recently posted PDF of a brief comparison of ten points of contrast between Adventism and Christianity here. Colleen |

"God sent you such a simple test. All you had to do was accept the person of Jesus, and his truth, in the person of Ellen G. White. But when you shut the door of your heart and home and family against that beautiful lady, I'm afraid, as did Satan, you locked yourself out. No one can blaspheme the Holy Spirit and be guiltless." Wow. Just wow. Jeremy |

When my SDA-Bible-Teacher dad finally realized I was serious about leaving Adventism, he reminded me that there is only one sin God cannot forgive - blasphemy against the Spirit of Prophecy. He meant Ellen White. |

Freeatlast...I understand what you are saying/feeling. It overwhelms me. I just read a letter to the editor which says I keep writing about my wounds in the past, that I need to forgive and move one, and they hope I find what I'm looking for in life. What can I say? I have found Jesus--or rather, He found me. I keep trying to say I have found the One who gives me meaning, who redeems my past, who has changed my identity, and has replaced my anxiety with hope and assurance that He will never leave me. I just have no words to respond to those kinds of pronouncements... Colleen |

Colleen, Yes, the SIMPLICITY of a relationship with JESUS NOW really is the reward, despite what others who don't understand this may say. Our "audience" is GOD Himself! In reference to the above "no words to respond"... Presenting the Truth of JESUS ALONE will do a work in one's heart...one way or another! One just cannot be the same after listening to the Gospel! Either a joy in believing, or a growing antagonism against the Holy Spirit. His Spirit has guided you in your teachings and articles. You clear the way to Jesus. I just read this morning your article in the new Proclamation!, "Do your children know Jesus?" It was excellent! The Deity, Supremacy, Sovereignity, Substitutionary Work, and All-Sufficiency of Jesus Christ shine through your words. grace, cindy |

Thank you, Colleen for your article on the Adventist teachings about Jesus to children. I feel like a forgotten childhood memory has been dredged up, leaving me a bit uneasy, but for good. I look forward to reading it again and examining the implications. What about our baptism in the Adventist church? I knew that for the denom. it meant church membership and assent to its teachings. But because I believed I was being baptized into Christ (at age 10) I have always considered it valid, but have sometimes questioned that conclusion. I would love to hear how others have dealt with it. |

"Pauline", many former Adventists are baptized into Christ after they leave Adventism. Some do feel they were committing to Jesus when they were baptized and don't do it again. I suggest you ask God to let you know. If your baptism really was a statement of your commitment to Jesus, He will let you know if you should do it again or not. Our son, who was baptized as an Adventist, was powerfully convicted that he needed to be baptized about three years ago. For those who haven't seen it, the video of his testimony and baptism is here Colleen |
