The best answer to the question above is NOTHING (according to Webster, meaning "no value or importance" and "in no degree"). Truly, this one-word answer says it very well. As of today, it has been 165 years since the Great Deception of "Father Miller." In my community, here in Lincoln, Nebraska, Seventh-day Adventists are excitedly preparing for a major evangelistic crusade with Ron Halvorsen, Sr. He is the guy that used to knock down little, old ladies with a baseball bat to grab their money and purses. Why is he not serving time for his admitted crimes? I am convinced that little, old ladies died from being struck down with a baseball bat. Anyway, I am also convinced that the primary reason why Seventh-day Adventists sponsor evangelistic crusades and/or seminars is to revive the troops (members) so they won't leave as quickly. Oh yes, on their brochures (sent in the mail), the name of the College View SDA Church is identified as "The Prophecy Center." So, they still maintain an inferiority complex. Dennis Fischer |

Thanks Dennis, I had totally overlooked the fact that today is the 22nd of October, the important anniversary of the significant non-event. Probably due to never having been SDA, but I maintain my interest in the subject! Tomorrow is a national holiday in Hungary, the anniverary of the outbreak of the 1956 "counter-revolution" according to the communists, now reassessed as a revolution. At least something really happened on this date, and although it was suppressed at the time, it meant Hungary was rather less rigidly Stalinist from that point on. Not that I think politics is the answer, just Jesus! Just rambling, Adrian |

At least something "significant" happened somewhere in the world for some one on this day. I am saying this tongue in cheek. Diana L |

Did I get myself into a mess? I just posted the following in my FB page. According to the Bible, what happened in October 22, 1844? Please give Bible references. Let see who and what answers do I get. Hec |

William Miller (1782-1849), the farmer turned preacher, had merely 18 months of formal education. So, it is not surprising that when biblical scholars (savvy in Hebrew) of his day approached him about his misinterpretation of Daniel 8:14, he arrogantly and carelessly replied, "I can read my English Bible very well. Thank you." Truly, Miller's case demonstrates anew the need for trained ministers who are knowledgeable in the biblical languages. I wholeheartedly join those who are convinced that if William Miller would have had a workable knowledge of biblical Hebrew, the Seventh-day Adventist Church would not be in existence today. I had forgotten that yesterday was Oct 22 the Anniversary of nothing... Yesterday I got an email from ABN with the heading:"ABN 25th Anniversary Invitation" It said in part.... "Can you believe Three Angels Broadcasting Network is 25 years old? That's right! It's been some 25 years since that historic November night when the Lord inspired our founder, Danny Shelton, to “build a television station that would reach the world with the undiluted three angels' messages; one that would counteract the counterfeit.” Under God's leading, and by His Grace, we have tried to carry out that mandate for this past quarter century, and needless to say, His blessings have been almost too numerous to tell! " Basically it went on and it turns out (no surprise) that my "invitation" was to make a contribution. I noticed on the page a link to "unsubscribe" so I clicked on it and a page came up saying they were sorry I had deecided to unsubscribe and there was a little box where you could tell them (in 150 letters or less) why you wanted to unsubscribe.... so I did :-) First one I wrote in that the ABN "founder" Danny Shelton is a known adulterer and that he was certainly no one that should be looked up to. well I dont remember the exact words I used but it took up all the 150 letters. well when I sent it and then I hit my back button to go on and do something else,,, lo and behold that little box was sittin there empty giving me the chance to expand on my thoughts... so I did :-) This time I told them that Ellen White was a false "prophet", that she was also a liar and a hypocrite telling people how they should live their lives and not living up to those standards herself. Hit send... hit back button, little box reappears.... another chance .. so I then told them that we are now under a New Covenant and it has much higher standards than the Old ever did. Hit send, hit back button... surprise, surprise,, lol little box again... so I wrote in that who ever was reading this should take the "Bible Challenge" and to put away all SDA materials for a month and study ONLY the Bible for what it REALLY says. I think I ended up sending about 5-6 messages Might not do any more than make someone mad... but just maybe someone reading might think a little and go to their Bible to look.... maybe. I am thinking about sending a few more today... anyone got any good ideas in 150 letters/spaces or less ? |

Ron Halvorsen, Sr. is a close friend of my family. He is a very decent man now, but just horribly deceived like every other SDA. |

Well, I guess I have no takers. Only two people responded to my question about what happened on October 22, 1844 and to give references. One gave me a couple of references. When I asked for the event, she responded that she was going to be a Bible teacher and as such, she wouldn't give me the answer but would have me search for it. The other gave me the same Bile references (Daniel 8:14 and Daniel 7: 9-12) and said that the events were in heaven. When I press for the event his answer was that the event was mention in the texts. I don't know why the reticence to mention the event. This is a "great disappointment" (pun intended). I thought I would get a bunch of replies. Oh well, maybe they can't come up with the verses or/and don't know how to explain the issue. Therefore avoided replying. How sad. Hec |

Exciting News! I guess my posting of the question on 1844 was not a waste after all. One of my favorite ex-students posted a reply saying that the doctrine is unbiblical and he cites Hebrews. I check the online people and he happened to be online. So I IM him and we have a nice conversation. He is studying now about the Sabbath which is one of the things that still keep him SDA. I'm so excited! We will keep in contact. I recommended that he get "Sabbath in Christ." Please pray for him. He asked me to pray for him. He really is looking for light. Hec |

Oh, one more thing (does it looks like I'm excited?) he told me that there were other of my ex-students who are also looking. Please pray for me. This may be my ministry. My ex-students. What better ministry could the Lord give me? Well, I may be going too fast, but if the Lord wants me to do that, I'll be happy to undo part of what I did. Hec |

Hec! Have you ever wondered why God would have chosen to lead you through SDA as part of your journey to Him? Have you thought you wasted your life teaching children the SDA-way? Our God is bigger than we are! We don't know His ways. He didn't let your life get horribly out of control at a crucial moment in your spiritual development. Does the Potter not have a right to do whatever He wants with the clay? (Romans 9:21) I'll Pray For You, Hec, And For Your Kids. Our God Is Marching On!
