I have work to do, but I can't get back to it until I post this. In the April 2009 "Adventist World--NAD edition" William Johnsson has written an article that we should take very seriously. It's subject is how the SDA church has been working for many years to establish relations and have conversations with Islam. I will give you the following quote: "These new conversations present us with new challenges. Muslims tend to paint all Christians with the same brush: in lifestyle, as pork eaters and alcohol drinkers; in geopolitical stance, as pro-Israel and anti-Arab. A major goal for Adventists is to show and explain that we are not just another Christian denomination; that our lifestyle is similar to Muslims' in key areas; and that we are an international, global community of faith whose agenda is not driven by the winds and directions of secular politics.......there are significant points of contact that invite dialogue. Among these are the high regard we each have for holy writings; belief in creation rather than evolution; the expectation of and preparation for the Day of Judgement; the Second Coming of Jesus Christ; and belief in prophetic messengers. Thus, Adventists have openings for fruitful conversations with Muslims that other Christian churches do not." I see a scary trend here--starting with seeing with my own eyes a large painting used on the SDA 'Good News Tour'. This painting was hanging on the outside of LLU church. Christ was kneeling down in front of world leaders, washing their feet. Jesus was positioned very near Osama bin Laden, kneeling in front of him. This was very disturbing. Also, a Christian employee of LLU hospital saw recently a Muslim area, complete with prayer rugs, in the children's chapel at the hospital. This was told directly to a group of us formers by the employee a week ago. What's going on? Your comments would be appreciated... |

I have seen that picture here on the internet. I do not know what is happening except that the SDA will do anything to bring anyone into adventism. They have all these talking points, but they do not have Jesus Christ. They will get some converts, I am sure. As for the area in the chapel they are giving the Muslims a place to pray. I met a Muslim lady at my church who told me that God talked to her in a dream and that is how she was converted to Christianity. I am not afraid as I know God is still in charge of all things. Whatever happens He allows it for a reason. On the other hand, in individual churches the attitude is not the same as this article. When my son was stationed at Dyass Air Force Base, Abilene, TX he and his wife were attending the SDA church there. A visiting SDA conference minister was speaking there. From what my son told me it was all about Muslims and was not complimentary. If I remember correctly my son and his wife got up and walked out and never returned there. They started attending church at the AF base chapel on Sundays. Diana L |

Well, there definitely is a movement within Adventism to see Muslims as having important things in common with them--even to the point of saying they hold beliefs that will characterize the remnant. Colleen |
