Hi! I don't post or visit here as much as I used to but this website has sure been a blessing to me in the past. I just have a comment to make. Here are a couple things I have read on SDA sites or forums in the last couple of days. Testimony of Ysidro Calderon March 18, 2009 At a prayer meeting in Peru my brother, who is a pastor, started to talk about the final events and dreams of Ernie Knoll and immediately a demon-possessed young woman said, "Shut up! Don't talk about those things." The entire congregation was shocked and began to cry and pray. The woman was set free at 3:00 AM. My brother said, “When you are facing something like this, you feel helpless. You feel that only with God you can overcome." As a result of this experience the whole church is experiencing a revival. recently listened to a sermon by David Gates, he tell of a male witch he met on a air plane. He boasted to David Gates about how he could do anything he wanted to anyone he wanted and offered his services for hire. He went of to say that he could take Dave's wife and give her to any man he chose. David replied "No you can't". Then this warlock asked him some questions. The first thing he asked him was if he had any unconfessed sin, even secret sin of his heart. Next he asked if he watched soap's or read any novels? Do you memorize scripture? After answering these questions the warlock said" you're right I cant touch you, but 90% of Christians I can get". I remember hearing many stories such as this while an Adventist. Don't they see that the devil can certainly be using stories such as this to reinforce heritical beliefs? The prince of darkness wouldn't do anything to confirm or legitimize the true doctrine of the Gospel . It seems obvious to me now why there are stories like this. |

So David Gates is claiming to be without sin? And that his sinlessness is what is keeping his wife from walking out on him? Yikes!!! But to claim to be without sin is tantamount to claiming not to be in the truth: "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." I John 1:8 |

Also it is Jesus Christ who protects us from the devil, not our own works, no matter how 'good' or even apparently 'perfect' they are. |

In other words, David Gates appears to be trusting his own behaviors (or lack of them) to protect him from the devil. Unfortunately for him, the only safety to be found is being held by God, not by his own anything. |

"So David Gates is claiming to be without sin? And that his sinlessness is what is keeping his wife from walking out on him? Yikes!!!" Isn't that crazy! That was posted on O'fill's forum. Nobody questioned the story and one response was this: "Psalm 103 - I've also heard that sermon by David Gates and the warlock on the plane. Truly an amazing and sobering story." Can't they see if the stories are true, it would only be to reinforce false doctrine? Satan isn't dumb. |

I don't believe in spooks, I don't believe in spooks, I don't believe in spooks. Got my point? SDAs still including me, are always afraid of Satan. They are indoctrinated that unless you are perfect in God's eyes by having confessed all your sins, etc. the devil can come and get you. There is nothing you can do because you are in sin. Now, is there any time when we are not in sin? This is behaviorally speaking. (I understand that Jesus took care of my sins.) So, if behaviorally, I sin, then I have to be afraid of the devil. I am no match for him. If my sins are taken care by Jesus, then my behavior is not the point. The devil cannot do anything to me because Jesus is in me. Understand that I'm preaching to myself. I know it intellectually, but in practice? That's different. Poor me. I think I'll go eat worms. Hec |

Sigh...don't get me started on David Gates. I get his sermons forwarded to me constantly and quite frankly, the man's claims sicken me. And none of the SDA's I know even blink at any of the horrific things he says...including his claims as southern a few years ago that you could buy your way to heaven... |

Hec, Satan cannot do any more than God allows him to do, "...because He Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." (1st John 4:4) So Satan is on a leash. Satan cannot hurt your soul, only your body. Besides with all these people on the forum to pray for you... One can put a thousand to flight and "two put ten thousand to flight..." (from Deuteronomy 32:30) I've noticed I have a whole lot less fear of Satan now that I'm a Christian! |

Asurprise, I've also noticed I have a whole lot less fear of Satan now that I'm a Christian! Hec, You might want to read through the following thread. It was helpful to me as my paradigm has and continues to shift. http://www.formeradventist.com/discus/messages/11/8422.html?1236200707 These are some amazing texts that I prayed through as I was sorting out how big Jesus is (thanks to Jeremy's research and posting): Here are just some of the passages which show that Jesus is omnipresent and that He indwells believers: John 1:45-50, John 14:23, Matthew 18:20, Matthew 28:20, Ephesians 1:23, Ephesians 3:17, Ephesians 4:10, Colossians 1:17, Colossians 1:27, Colossians 3:11, and Galatians 2:20. Keri P.S. Hec, I'd recommend asking in prayer for Jesus to reveal how Big He is to you to help you know deeply rather than intellectually ... At least it helped me And you are right - it is a HUGE paradigm shift for us Adventists. |

4truth, It's time to look at one of my favorite passages, Ephesians Chapter Six:
quote:Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Eph. 6:10-13
Without God's armour, we will always fail. With God's armour, we will never fail! Adventist lack the whole armour of God and have much to fear. Fearless Phil |

Adventist lack just about everything I can think of. If you ain't got Jesus, you ain't got anything. Oh, they say they got Jesus alright enough, but is it the real Jesus or one of their own creation? Thats my big question. "Here, we want a Jesus too, lets just sit right down here and make us a little Jesus. He won't be our all in all' But he'll always be ready to play ball' Whatever we demand' With a little proof texting he'll put in our hand' A little of this and a little of that' Shape him to our form and pat, pat pat' A little Ellen white thrown in' She can tell us where we've been' Well, I'll be, would you look at that' He looks like Ellen' And Ellen looks like that' Here, lets set him on our throne' Along with Ellen who's dead and gone' We'll go back to eighteen and fortyfour' Grab us some Ellen and Anne Gore' The Methodist church they kicked us out' But we're still here around and about' We got our own Jesus' We don't need any more' There he is standing by the door' So set him up there and let us be' For we are slaves and will never be free' Now River wrote this sad poem' You can't say that he don't really knowem' He runs his mouth both night and day' To keep formers, former' And Adventist at bay' River |

Yes, River; ALL the cults have a wrong "Jesus." Either one that isn't God - Muslims and J.W.s; or one that had a beginning - Mormons; or one that becomes a piece of bread at every mass - Catholics; or one that only gave an incomplete, partial atonement; and that sits up in Heaven judging everyone - Adventists. A false "Jesus" cannot save. |
