Check it out!

BibleStudiesForAdventists.com is now online!

This website is dedicated to Adventists who are looking for biblical insights into the topics discussed each week in the Sabbath School lesson quarterly. We are posting weekly articles which address the current week’s lessons as presented in the Sabbath School Bible Study Guide, including biblical commentary on them.

Colleen Tinker, editor of Proclamation! magazine is the editor of this project. Writers include Christian (non-Adventist) lay persons and pastors, and articles often contain links for further study. Articles addressing each week’s lessons will be posted by the date of each new study’s first lesson.

We hope you will find this material helpful and that you will come to know Jesus and His revelation of Himself in His word in profound new ways.

Praise the Lord!

May God give you supernatural insight as you expose error and show people the truth of the Word of God!

I'm praying for you!

Hallelujah!!!! Thank you everyone who is involved in writing these lessons for current adventists.
Father in Heaven, I thank you for Jesus and that He died for us and was resurrected and is not at your right hand. Be with each Seventh day Adventist as they read here and with those who study these lessons. Teach them your truth from the Bible and as you call each individual may the respond to the Shepherd's voice and follow Him.

I hate to be the first to complain Gilbert, but the page did not link to the material.
The only live links were to the Adventist Church and Proclamation. At least that I could find.
Or is that the finished website?

River,

Sometimes it is the details that are important.

Notice what it says: "(study will be available by December 27, 2008)"

People are working feverishly to bring this new site online as fast as possible -- especially with the Seventh-day Adventist Church's entire quarter (1Q2009) devoted to admiring Ellen White. Stay tuned.

It's up and online today. Well written and supported by the Bible, what a novel concept ...

Thanks, Colleen and others, for doing this. I find it useful for myself...even though I'm not the target audience.

Yes, it is up and online. It is well written and supported by the Bible. As Larry wrote "A novel concept".
I read all of it just to see what it said. Some things I never knew EGW said/wrote.
Thanks Colleen and all involved for doing this.
Our awesome God is working to bring all SDAs to follow Him.

This is of great interest to me! My wife is going to be studying this...this...this 'stuff' and I need to be armed and ready.

I started reading the new lessons, made me queasy but also grateful that I'm no longer an Adventist

A great big THANK YOU for your efforts.

John, I have said before and will probably say again that when I read anything written by SDAs/EGW my head spins and it does not make sense to me.

I think this calls for some postcards with a link for all my Adventist friends. Time to get the Word out! (Pun intended!)

Thanks to all who are working so hard to get this ministry off and running! You are an answer to prayer!

I just wanted to personally thank everyone involved in getting this website up and running! My transition out of adventism began with Ellen White. Having been led by God recently to begin witnessing to old adventist friends, this website will be a great way to start! Thanks once again & God bless in your project!

Just to let you all know that the first study for Week 5 is up. This next week's commentary is written by Roy Tinker, and the subject is the Nature of Inspiration.

I'll think you'll enjoy it. Here's the link: http://www.biblestudiesforadventists.com/2009/quarter1/week5/sabbathschool1.html

I wanted to bring www.BibleStudiesforAdventists.com back to your attention. Last week Phil Harris wrote the commentary for week six, and week seven is also now online. It's written by Steve Pitcher.

If you haven't checked out these commentaries on the SDA Sabbath School lessons this quarter which are titled The Prophetic Gift (we all know what that's about!), you should. They are incisive and go to the root of the problems.

I just want to encourage you all to check these out. There's great information there!

Commentary on "The Work of the Prophets"

In his summary of the lesson for Day 7: Friday, February 13, 2009, STEVE PITCHER wrote"

"Over 15 million Adventists around the world are dedicating three months to the study of the spiritual gifts of one person. How does this lift up Jesus Christ?
When our focus is on one sinful human being, regardless of how holy that person may be, we ignore God’s commandment as stated by the apostle Paul. We should know nothing amongst ourselves but Christ and him crucified."

I know my parents have been studying this lesson and it is disheartening and frustrating to see them living and walking in the dark. Their life is chaotic, painful, downright depressing; I'm actually angry and sad that the SDA church chooses to continually lift up the name of EGW, thereby trumping up Jesus. How insulting and heretical!!!

I see no way of talking to them while they choose to eat, chew, and digest such garbage being taught... sorry for the rant, but I am just plain angry and repulsed by anything having to do with EGW.

I'm praying God will shine the light for my parents and all the other Adventists who would rather feast on EGW than on the promises of Jesus.

I wanted to remind everyone to check out www.BibleStudiesforAdventists.com

Tonight we were working on uploading and editing the last two weeks' worth of commentaries for this quarter's Sabbath School lessons, and I found this quote in the teacher's quarterly, pages 153 and 155, for the last week of lessons on for this quarter on the (ironically) Fruit of the Spirit:

quote:

Jesus' ministry began with a special anointing in which the Father gave Him the Holy Spirit and His gifts without measure. It was this constant presence of the Holy Spirit and His fruit that empowered and enabled Jesus to overcome sin.

Jesus is our best Example of how to live a Spirit-led life. His close communion with the Father shone through all aspects of His life. Tempted by Satan himself, Jesus showed self-control and remained strong (Matt. 4:1-11). Falsely accused and beaten, He was calm and gentle (John 18:1-11). Pleading with God in despair, He remained faithful (Mark 14:35, 36). Put to death by His own people, He forgave (Luke 23:33, 34).

Jesus manifested what it means to bear the fruit of the Spirit. He was so in tune with God that all these things became a natural part of His character (emphasis mine).

Have y'all heard this idea before? If this is true, Jesus cannot be God. Period.

I know this is what Adventism embraces...I'm glad it's this overt in the quarterly!
