Here's a link to the news story about the release of the new Andrews Study Bible. On the heels of the Remnant Study Bible, it appears they've got an "Adventist Bible" for all tastes. Here's the link to the story: http://news.adventist.org/2010/06/adventist-church-rel.html Colleen |

"All of this is to make Bible reading and understanding more accessible and easier," said Niels-Erik Andreasen, chair of the project's committee and president of the church's Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Can you say BS! What they are saying is "You're too dumb to understand the Bible, it's too hard to understand." But Really it's "It would be too hard to make sense of the SDA doctrine with the true Bible alone, you will not understand our doctrine of IJ, Soul Sleep, 10 Commandments being God's eternal moral law, etc." Paul |

"The project was conceived in 2007 when leaders at the church's world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, considered whether such a tool would promote Bible study among its membership and the community. They cited studies showing that only about half of members regularly studied the Bible." Half the members? And yet they know the Bible better than all other Christians? Talk about the blind leading the blind! Paul |

"This is a practical study Bible the lay reader can really use to understand the depth of scripture," he said. "We've tried to bring light and depth to our understanding of the truth in God's word." What? God's truth is not enough, we now need their light and depth to be added to God's truth, because God's truth is too hidden and hard to understand? OH the arrogance and lies! Paul |

"Andrews University is an institution directly affiliated with the church's world headquarters." Remember this because when we get a hold of one of these "corrupt false bibles" and use it to point out the error to fellow Adventists, their claim will be, the SDA church is not associated with them. Paul, I assume "BS" is short for 'Berrien Springs'. Fearless Phil |

This is the natural result of the Adventist take of what studying scriptures in context actually means: From the Remnant Dictionary IN CONTEXT: The Remnant Church started with doctrinal truths and, through the inspiration of the SoP, found texts and phrases that support these truths, therefore the Remnant Doctrines are to be studied and verified only in the context of their original setting i.e., the writings of the Spirit of Prophecy (SoP). Through Her interpretations and use of isolated verses and phrases, hidden truths unrelated to the original circumstances of the text have been brought to light, creating a framework that supports our distinctives. By studying Her writings in context, it will be shown that most verses cannot be taken literally and/or in context of the scripture, as such use creates confusion to the understanding of their true meanings and leads to our Doctrines being questioned. Bear in mind that the important thing is not learning what scripture seems to say, the key is determining what the SoP is speaking to you in your unique personal circumstances. NOTE: The study of scripture ‘in context’ is a ploy by those who also tout literalism and Sola Scriptura as the sole means to revealing God’s truth in an attempt to undermine the Remnant Truth. (see: SPIRIT of PROPHECY, SPIRITURALGESES, TEXTS, VEIL, ‘WHITE, ELLEN’) SPIRIT of PROPHECY (SoP): Also known as the "lesser light" Manifested in Ellen White and Her writings which are the continuing and authoritative source of truth and the identifying mark of the Remnant Church. Requisite to the understanding of the hidden truths of scripture and the foundation upon which the Remnant Church and it’s doctrines rests. |

Jonvil, is the previous post of yours something you wrote to give context, or do they actually say any of this in the Remnant Dictionary? Is there a Remnant Dictionary along with the Remnant Bible? I realize you may have written this tongue in cheek and I just wanted to know. Richard rtruitt@mac.com . |

Did you also notice this sentence, quote:…leaders at the church's world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, considered whether such a tool would promote Bible study among its membership and the community.
Do you get what that means? While this Bible may be primarily for members, it is also for "the community". I'm thinking they'll try to market this as another "Study Bible" to Christian book distributors. Nothing like a "scholarly work" to introduce the subtle twists of Adventist paradigms to an unsuspecting Christian who thinks Adventism is a variation of evangelical Christianity. We know they've succeeded in getting Christian bookstores to carry The Clear Word... Colleen |

did anyone check out the sample of this Bible? http://bible.andrews.edu/sample/ There's a little logo by the places in the commentary where they're *proving* doctrinal points. Sabbath seems to be the dominant one in this sample of ACTS. Check it out... |

seekr777 Just having fun, however I try to use their phraseology. I wouldn't be surprised if the "All of this is to make Bible reading and understanding more accessible and easier," consists of rephrased Ellen. John |

One more thing. In the ABOUT section... notice how any direct reference to Seventh-day Adventist is omitted. Any unsuspecting Christian who doesn't associate Andrews with SDA, is likely to be misled into thinking this is scholarly, biblical work. Deliberate deception. See below. ***** Andrews University is the flagship institution of a world-wide system of Christian education that in 2010 operated more than 100 colleges and universities, 1,500 secondary schools, and 5,700 primary schools, serving a total of nearly 1.5 million students. Andrews University Press publishes important works of scholarship, like this study Bible, that support the mission of the university and its sponsoring faith community. |

Andrews is definably not Christian in scope, they may be a flagship of claiming to be Christian, but claiming to be Christian does not make it Christian. Adventism is not Christian! No way shape or form. River |

I see it more and more as a perversion of Christianity--in S-O-O- many ways! When I was a kid, Adventists didn't like being called "Christians" because that implied bing part of what we now call "mainstream Christianity," and that meant being one of the "daughters of Babylon"--Babylon being Catholicism. Instead, we always proudly distinguished ourselves separately as "Adventists," first and foremost, totally distinct and separated from denominations calling themselves "Christians." Now that I think of it, maybe that wasn't so far off, after all, except for the Babylon part. Adventists are FAR from Christianity, calling Jesus a liar (It is NOT "finished"!), and all the other malarkey. It just seems funny to me that now they are trying so hard to be accpted as a Christian denominationm because otherwise they would be admitting they are a cult! |

Cloudwatcher, that Bible is horrendous. The Clear Word is unconscionable, weaving Ellenisms into the text, but it can be compared with a REAL Bible. The study Bible doesn't claim its Adventism (at least on the website), it purports Christianity, and its notes are so "scholarly" and "thorough". Unless a person really knew the Bible, it would be very easy to be pulled into Sabbath-keeping and food laws, etc., by using those study notes. It seems clear they want to market to Christians in general. Colleen |

I stand corrected--the home page of the Andrews Study Bible has quotes that flash across the screen next to the picture of the three Bibles, and the people quoted are mostly identified as Seventh-day Adventists. Also, if you click on "About", you'll find "committee and contributors" and "Endorsements". If you click on those, pretty much all the names are identified as Adventists. So, it becomes fairly obvious that this in an Adventist product, but it's subtle. It's not up front. Moreover, if you search for "White" on the site, you really can't find it. Colleen |

Go to the link in Colleen's first post above. Look on the right side of the page, scroll down, and click on the item referring to La Sierra and the evolution issue. I just posted a comment that you'll like, I think! |

Whether they are suttle about it or not, too many people don't know what Adventist are. Guess its up to somebody to teach them the difference between a sheep and a goat! |

We've got to get the Word out to evangelicals. I know this Bible is not a surprise to God and that He is in control. Nevertheless, my heart is very heavy reading this. May God lead and show us what actions we should take. |
