It has been almost dead quiet on this board for several months ... however, I do visit almost every day! I would enjoy reading questions or perspectives of new members, especially if they are working through the many issues that those leaving (or even just questioning) the Adventist system of thought encounter. |

Hi My Name is Randi, and I just joined this forum. I am happy to find a place to be encouraged. I left the SDA church after college (just never felt good enough) and actually left God all together. For many years I did my own thing. Approximately 5 years ago God was wooing me and I started to attend a bible based Non denominational church, even though I had not been going to church, it was amazing how my SDA roots reared its head and all the things I learned in my Youth would hit me as I started to see things from a new perspective. I like to say I met Jesus at my church. It has been a time of ups and downs over the past 5 years, reconciling my past beliefs to this new Grace. But it has also be exciting. Man I love Jesus and the joy I have found. Each day I yearn for more and more of him. I look forward to continued revelation through this fellowship |

Welcome Randi! I'm so glad you've joined us, and I share your joy in knowing Jesus. I'd love to hear some of the questions that have reared their heads. I know what you mean. Sometimes it takes years to begin to see all those things...being around Christians who don't have Adventism in their heads brings up all the subtle twists we didn't realize we had! I'm glad you're here! Colleen |

1 Pet 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Eph 2:11-13 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh. . . that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Eph 4:17-18 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. |

Hi Randi, Welcome. Good to hear your story. I've been away on other ventures confronting SDAism but think it's time to get back here on the forum and met the newcomers. I'm a 4th generation SDA who left well over 60 years ago at age 16 but even now find things that need to be processed out of my past. Phil |

Phil, that is so true! I still find things that have to be confronted and processed. It's amazing how this process goes on and on! You've been doing wonderful work in your ventures confronting Adventism, BTW! If anyone here hasn't yet read your piece in the last Proclamation, you should. Hi Randiehm, Welcome to the forum! It's always great to see a new "captive set free." I joined the church when I was 24, and was in for 27 years. We left about 14 years ago, although I was not believing much of it for several years before that. Once again, great to see you! |

Philharris, WOW isn't that crazy. It became evident to me recently how much brainwashing we received. It is so sad. Thanks for the welcome |

Phil I just read your article that Colleen posted above and it is SO beautiful. As I started reading the bible for myself and read all the verses you placed in your article, the light came on for me about these same false beliefs that were ingrained in us. What blows me away is what Bible does the SDA church read???? It became so clear to me when I asked God to speak to me from his word. Isn't God so wonderful, so loving, so gentle, so kind. I am so thankful for my freedom in Christ and what he has done for us. The true Gospel is so beautiful. |

Yes, the true gospel is SO amazing! Not at all like the Seventh-day Adventist "gospel." |

Hi....Im Thirsty for more of the word of God. That thirst is always with me. I know that God has saved me, that happened 29 years ago. I've always understood that Christ saved me through faith alone, and never because of what I've done. Yeah,I went through an early period in Adventism with trying to reconcile EGW,TSOP, and the pioneer teachings, but never could. I gave up after a while and remained in the church as a Sabbath school teacher...teaching the gospel of God while never teaching Adventism. I did that for about 17 years, and finally confronting the pastor and first elder, asking them to reconcile Hebrews 9 with the 1844 sanctuary doctrine without EGW which they couldn't do because it's impossible. That was the last straw, that was in 2006. I left never to return. |

Hello, my name is Mireya and I have also just joined this forum. It has only been a few weeks for me in learning the truth about Adventism. I am a third generation adventist and have often had questions but figured I am just never supposed to understand these things unless I was a minister etc. I have been critical of certain doctrines but never followed through with them. I believe God knew the time was not right for me to learn the truth till now. My struggle at the moment is do I completely cut my ties with my adventist church? I have not attended in a few weeks and have tried attending a New Covenant Sunday Church. That in itself is still difficult as you would all know. I have promised to help in our annual Church Camp meeting but I feel deep down that I do not want to attend?! I am also involved in music and am often asked to play. But I feel I need to make a clean break from the Church as coming and going is quite upsetting and emotionally takes its toll. I would really love any advice!! |

Hi Mireya, Welcome to FAF! It's great to see another person who sees the truth about Adventism and is coming out of it. As to breaking ties with the SDA church, personally I would break the ties. The coming and going that you mentioned, would also be distressing for me as well. Do you have deep connections, or family at the church? That might make it a bit more difficult, but to drag things out seems to be unnecessary and frustrating, if you are ready to move on. |

Mireya, The process of learning the "truth" can be emotionally exhausting; as Foo said, a clean break is probably the best, but difficult if you have family ties. When we realized the whole system of thought was wrong, the Lord led us to a small evangelical church which had good teaching. It took my wife and I a year or more for our minds and hearts to be set free of the falsehoods that we had been taught since we were young. We still attend somewhere about once per year (if visiting friends) but every time we are just more thankful not to be part of that system. Praise the Lord for the truth of the gospel in Jesus, that sets us free from the bondage of false religion. |

Welcome, Thirsty and Mireya! Yes, I agree; cutting ties is best in the long run. The problem with staying is that Adventism teaches a false gospel, and staying keeps one immersed in the confusion of the false teaching. It makes it much harder to "unpack" and sort out the problems. If you haven't done any studies of the new covenant, a subject Adventism doesn't teach and which explains what happened to Sabbath, here are links to a couple things. The first is a link to Dale Ratzlaff's article on the way the Old Covenant was fulfilled and replaced with the New covenant, and the second is a study of the biblical covenants by Chris Lee. It's very easy to follow and clarifies this subject beautifully. http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2016/3/thecovenants.html http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/studies/covenants/index.html Colleen |

Welcome Thirsty and Mireya, Mireya, I so agree with Leifl, coming out of Adventism is very exhausting, because the ingrained doctrine is hard to let go, I think because it is so fear based, it sometime seems to easy to be true, the actually gospel of Grace. Know that you will have emotional ups and downs, but just keep your eyes on Jesus. Grow your relationship with him. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Ask him to reveal his truth to you from his word and only his word. |

Hi Thirsty... I can so relate to your name! I've described coming out of Adventism like coming out of a desert and being so thirsty for God's word, true Biblical exegesis, and hearing sermons and teachings from true Biblical scholars and pastors. I wasn't raised SDA, so I didn't have a life time of indoctrination, thankfully. I eventually knew it was wrong, and I was beyond ready to go! Thirsty indeed! Welcome. |
