I just finished watching the heart breaking show Leah Remini put on titled 'Scientology and the aftermath” I can only say that there was plenty of DeJaVue, having been associated with Adventist, and former Adventist, which the Lord may have, or may not have given me a heart for. I believe he did. In viewing the show, and on the last episode a mental health person, I think he was a psychologist, said this, and it struck me as truth. He said, “There are universal patterns of manipulations in all cults that are the same.” I, as a never been have noticed this too. Probably the reason for the Dejavu. |

Yes, this series was riveting. I have her book as well. Scientologists are ruthless and relentless in their drive to destroy those who leave. As bad as Adventism is, Scientology is way worse, IMO. |

I agree. Her series is excellent, and I also had Dejavu as I watched it...well, perhaps it's more accurate to say I has flashes of PTSD. There was much that "felt" familiar. Excellent series! Colleen |

Until 1980 I lived in the city of Napa which is on the north side of the Bay Area. We had many cults to deal with including the Moonies, Jim Jones, the SLA, the Worldwide Church of God and yes, Scientology. Since my mother joined the Mormons after first becoming a Catholic and we live a half block from a Kingdom Hall I had all those folks to deal with also. It was also the time when Streakers were on the loose. By about 1970 I was a member of an evangelical church and well grounded in orthodox Christian doctrine. At the shipyard where I worked in those days I was confronted by several hard core Scientologist and found them a lot like Adventist but really weird and concluded that many of them were demon possessed. While I don't take the personal credit for it, one of these friends of mine did find the Lord but it was a major struggle for him to get away from their clutches. |
